I saw this first before I saw original when I was a kid.So when I saw the original because it was so popular I realized they really drop the ball on the second one.I think they shouldve made MCcloud raiden a lighting god like from Mortal Kombat actually.
HIGHLANDER II is one of my guilty pleasures. We know about the various problems and inconsistencies in this sequence, but I can see some positive points. The film has a dystopian science fiction atmosphere that I think is fantastic. The whole issue of the destruction of the ozone layer, the creation of that protective shield for the planet and the decadent, stagnant society, living in terrible conditions under that red "sky"... I think it's very good! The problem was that they mixed this great plot with all the fantasy of immortal warriors! And on top of that presenting them as aliens! The plot could follow in a similar way, with an eco-terrorist group contacting one of the scientists who created the shield. And they discovered that the ozone layer had already been restored. And so, organizing an attack on the corporation that controlled the shield.
So humanity blocked out the sun…everything had a retro futuristic/ cyberpunk aesthetic and everybody wore trench coats? So Highlander 2 takes place in the same universe as The Matrix and Neo is actually the one with the prize? Makes sense to me…
I don't care how abysmal the fight choreography was and how goofy the whole movie was, when i saw this as a little kid I loved it from start to finish lol! Especially the bird dudes lol
recording data: that entire city was built in the neighborhood of Puerto Madero Buenos Aires, it is no coincidence that the patrol car and the Taxi is a 1969 Ford Falcon, since the 60 and 70 generation of the falcon were also manufactured in La Boca until which was moved to General Pacheco
Funny thing, I’d never seen the original (was too young at that point), but I strongly remember the hoverboard clip they used in a trailer and was somewhat interested (reminded me of the air foil from Tale Spin).
Highlander II is certainly not without major flaws and issues, but it's still got some pretty good action scenes including this one. Sure the hoverboards and jetpacks don't exactly fit into the Highlander world but this is still a pretty badass sequence, and I respect that it was done in-camera with nothing digital. Contrast that with the boring CGIfests you see these days. Corda and Reno aren't liked by many, but I thought they were fun and memorable villains. Despite how dimwitted they are, they're both still pretty dangerous and threatening, and far moreso than the main villain. Katana is a fun villain but he sure is incompetant and a bad fighter; these two actually pose a serious threat, and clearly revel in the carnage they cause.
@@joefunk1611 First movie is just a drama of being immortal. And second movie is a ultra-mega-creative show, with anti-cosmic radiation energy shield, dictatorship, dystopia, alien porcupine-men with winged backpacks, and lots and lots of other crazy stuff. And main hero is immortal warrior with a sword, who helped to create that energy shield, using alien technology, because he's an alien himself. That's a top-tier plot and that's why second movie is the best! PS: Nobody's kiddin'. At least, those, whose childhood were during 80's!
Dilemma of the whole Franchise: The first movie didn´t allow a sequel in so far as Connor has been the very last immortal in the outcome, gained the price and turned mortal again. The magic ended once and for all. No turning back, no possible backdoor. There are few if not zero further examples in movie history that made a sequel THAT impossible. There would have been the possibility of a "Sequel" set BEFORE the Highlander finale (semi prequel, if you like).....the TV show, for example, but they messed that up, too, at least in a chronological kind of way. So, the whole Franchise is an incoherent mess, with part 2 being one of the worst and most embarrassing sequels in movie history.
could have easily made a sequel that made sense and worked, this shit just come about because the producers wrote stupid shit in desperation for a massive hit. Highlander was certainly not impossible to make a sequel to that was good and made sense it is a fantasy film after all there are no hard and fast rules if you can make it up you can find a way out of it too!

I still don't get how the same director made an absolute classic in the original but an absolute dumpster fire with the sequel!!!! Some classics don't need a sequel. Exhibit 1......

Sad it's not in English
Highlander II: Things Explode, Because Reasons Everyone acting like this is bad. It’s the funniest thing I’ve ever seen
Ramirez!!!!!🎉
THIS was the highlander movie that should NOT have been made
As a Sci-fi B-Movie it's not all that bad, as a Highlander sequel it's fucking terrible to say the least.
The sex scene in the movie is so short and hilarious
wtf was April O'neil doing out there
This is Micheal Bay pyro before micheal bay pyro was a thing. Overkill much? Lol
De taxis usaron Ford Falcon del año 1966, y el patrullero es otro Falcon de 1962. Los aderezos de la panchería son Fanacoa.

Utter trash

I hope Gladiator 2: The Quickening is better than this.
3:56 apesar desse filme ter um roteiro zoado mas essa cena é muito boa de ver.
A Versão do Diretor é melhor
Thank God, I had my ex-girlfriend‘s ass to focus on while I was watching this movie. She really did have a great ass.
Aside from Ironside's acting, the designs of the henchmen were the only things in this movie done with any heart
Stewart Copeland's soundtrack was pretty good.

I have Connor MacLeod's Katana and it is my pride & joy cost me over £150 for it from Colwyn Bay Wales well worth it there can be only one.
Apart of this scene one, the final fight vs. General Katana was a good scene too, though the audio is in French language.
its 2024, we here
Mistakes were made
I find this very hard to believe that this was actually made by the ones that did the first one.
I kind of dig Stewart Copeland’s soundtrack though
God this movie was awful :D
Such a disappointing mistake of a movie. Suddenly they are Aliens…Sigh.
A True Masterpiece. Movies like this were the strings that held me up as youth. Im 45 now, but there still can be only One!
You are kidding right? I mean the first movie yea but no no no not the second….you are kidding please tell me.

Sorry, I'm still just seeing a blank screen. Everyone knows the Highlander movies went, Highlander to Highlander 3.
