23 years of age and would rather listen to this on long trips, hear this while cooking, than today’s music in some way. Appreciation for the combustion of articulated symphony notes 🥇
Yeah, John Leslie "Wes" Montgomery was the greatest, as far as I am concerned. The true king of the Jazz and Pop guitar. The Michael Jackson of his genre, indeed.
Same for me! I discovered Wes Montgomery at age 18 way back in the 80's. Working around the house? Long road trip? Wes is playing! Along with Barney Kessel, Herb Ellis and Kenny Burrell.
I discovered Wes going through my stepdads albums when I was about 7 or 8. Now 58,I really appreciate his guitar work as among the greats in history.thanks Wes !
Hah! I discovered him too...Wes Montgomery accidental album finds...1999...what a beautiful discovery...Coltrane came a year later...Wes is my favorite...

I discovered Wes while visiting with my father in Brooklyn, NY. I was 16 and unfortunately that turned out to be my father’s mistake. When I left dad when my visit was over I ended up taking all of his Wes albums with me-and I never asked if I could have them. Dad never confronted me over taking his albums. Wes, as far as I’m concerned, is my #1 jazz artist.
We have a neighborhood park called Wes Montgomery being it's black history month someone posted where the name came from I found out all about him and his music and that he was from Indianapolis,in from my neighborhood my hometown! That's what bought me here WOW!! His music is great! It's wonderful to keep learning new things everyday!!!
Un jour j'ai écouté West et je me suis dit"la guitare c'est ça aussi!", je suis tombé amoureux de cette musique et je me suis acheté une guitare pour apprendre à jouer, j'avais 42 ans. Merci West 😌🕊
After listening to and playing jazz piano/guitar for about 4-5 hours a day for around 15 years, I have to say this is up there as one my favourite albums. It is the real pure jazz, you know, the diamond quality.
This guy is good at guitar. His guitar playing is good. I’d like to mention that while you take to time to listen to Wes Montgomery’s guitar playing, notice that he plays the guitar well. In the timeframe that Wes played guitar in history, he was one of the best guitar players in the world history of the world.
You forgot Miles Davis i was listening to my dad's collection when i was a kid and i was listening to his the lonious monk collection too as well and John Coltrane
So many comments and not one mention of his guitar playing. Wes Montgomery was one of the greatest guitar players of all times in all history. His phrasing was inventive and a first-of-a-kind. He influenced everyone including Jimi Hendrix
To me, Wes is by far the most gansta, hard hitting jazz guitarist of all time. The only person I have heard to come close in modern times is Birelli Lagrene, who for some strange reason is widely unknown.
Thank you for the intro to Birelli Lagrene. I love finding new people to listen to. I'll recommend Little Wing, played by Eric Gales, Matt Schofield, and Tomo Fujita.
It is real love story for life. It make us what music is and how will be as a compuetr composer and a photographer. Thanks for God and friends and wifves.
It's crazy... I've been listening to pretty much nothing but Wes Montgomery since the 90s... occasionally whatever my son when he was young and now whatever my granddaughters wanna listen to... but if you leave me to myself, I've got Wes on, maybe some Trane, or some other old Master ... everything else is just too predictable...

Wes Montgomery is my favorite guitarist of all time. I saw his guitar in Song Birds in Chattanooga Tennessee and was very honored to do so.

How can you be so certain that his guitar playing is good? I'd like believe you but I have a feeling you might be trying to hornswoggle me.
I would agree with the former... this guy knew the guitar inside out, and couldn't read music.. the irony of it 😂 thanks Wes
How you say that when he didn't play smoke on the water or stairway even once 😂😂
From a teen I was listening to West Mongomery & John Coletrane from my parents collection.
Imagine our country, our world if more would turn on to those artists today. Might be less killin and more cooking and wine!

Well, it goes without saying that Montgomery is up there with the others gods of jazz guitar!
Hendrix is considered ,,great" only in USA >< Just to let you know.
Wes Montgomery is way ahead of Hendrix.
Hendrix was great. Montgomery was great. Neither would ever have claimed they were the greatest. Comparisons are for suckers.
