"This is war Peacock!!" favorite line of the movie. This is pure theatrical comedy gold with an amazing cast of legends delivering brilliantly some masterful writing. Definitely one of my favorite movies of all time!
"Professor Plum, you were once a professor of psychiatry specializing in helping paranoid and homicidal lunatics suffering from delusions of grandeur." "Yes, but now I work for the United Nations." "So your work has not changed." #TakeBackTurtleBay Fun Fact: The three endings were shown at a random theater when it first came out. All three are included on video. The DVD, however, aside from having all three endings, also offers the option to play the movie with one randomly selected ending. Heartbreaking Loss Fact: The Max Busch House, the mansion used for the exterior and ballroom scenes, was destroyed by a massive fire on October 5, 2005. After the fire, several people left flowers on the front gate and even shed tears, evidence of how much the house was cherished by the local community. Random Order Fact: Wadsworth decides how the guests will be paired up to search the house by cutting matchsticks into various lengths, and the guests appear to draw these at random. Naturally, the partners were assigned by the script and the process could not be left to chance. Before Tim Curry holds out the cut matchsticks to the actors, he was given them in the correct order. The actors acted as if they were picking randomly, but simply drew the matchsticks in order from left to right.
One of my favorite moments in this movie is easy to miss and apparently, an accident they left in. Wadsworth is leading Mrs. White up the stairs, but she stumbles. Madeline Kahn completely faceplants on the stairs. I love it! :)
You laughed at how long the matches were when they were choosing partners. But long reach matches do exist... they're for wood burning stoves or fireplaces. ;)
I did it! I did it and I'm glad, glad I say! I pushed the like button! I subscribed! And I set notifications to all so I'd never miss new content! And I'd do it again!
Surprisingly it didn't do well at the theaters but has become a low key cult classic. The three ending were combined into this version but originally theaters would be randomly sent with one only. Fun concept. Tim Curry has great energy to pull off such a zany role.
Without the IP (board game) trappings, Clue is basically a repackage of a film released 10 years earlier that even had one of the same stars (Eileen Brennan). Murder by Death was a late night TV fixture in the late '70s and 20 year old me remembers it being consistently funnier than Clue despite it having a major star running around in "yellow face" for the entire film. I don't know how much (if anything) that had to do with Clue's lackluster box office but I remember thinking it might have had something to do with it.
@@snowdenwyatt6276 To expand on this a little, Peter Sellers' character, Sydney Wang, was a parody of Charlie Chan, who was commonly played by white actors in yellow face.
@@WukongTheMonkeyKing Undoubtedly. There's definitely a reason for that choice that is a meta commentary on the issue. Unlike The 7 Faces of Dr Lao (from 10 years earlier) or Remo Williams (from 10 years later). All that aside, my main reasons for really liking MbD and being only lukewarm on Clue are Peter Falk and Truman Capote.
@@snowdenwyatt6276 Totally fair, and I'm not diminishing what you said. Just adding a little context to it, for people who haven't seen MbD, who stumble across these comments in the future. Peter Falk is easily remembered for Columbo or The Princess Bride, but he was excellent in MbD, and Robin and the 7 Hoods will always hold a special place in my heart.
This is my number one favorite comedy! When it came out in theaters, they all got a random ending. So you never really knew what happened. Also, I just found your channel recently with your WALL-E reaction, and subscribed. Sorry to hear you're sick, hope you get better quickly.
Murder by Death is a movie just like this one, but older. Released in 76’. Great movie. Instead of a bunch of people invited to be blackmailed, this one has the worlds greatest Detectives. Comedy/Mystery just like this.
I know Murder By Death is also a classic and it's been a VERY long time since I've seen Murder By Death, but I think you get a little more out of that movie if you know the detectives that are being spoofed. But for the movie Clue, you don't need to have any prior knowledge of the board game it is based on to enjoy the film.
I'm so sorry you're not feeling well. Here's hoping for a swift recovery! 👍This may be the movie I have seen the greatest number of times in my life. It's my dad's favorite movie to just throw on when he's bored, and I used to even use it sometimes for background noise when doing homework. My favorite joke in the whole movie though is one that no one ever mentions. I think maybe I just have a weird sense of humor. When they're all discussing occupations and where they live at dinner, Professor Plum says he works at UNO, the United Nations Organization (but he pronounces it as "You-know"). Then he clarifies that he works for a branch of UNO, the World Health Organization. So he works for UNO WHO. I find the subtle jokes like that way too funny. A close second is when Tim Curry mentions during his explanation that "Even a psychiatrist can tell whether a patient is alive or dead." Way to throw some shade at the psychiatric profession, Wadsworth! 🤣 But there are so many good bits in here! Plum tries the lounge door. "It's locked!" Green growls, "I know..." Plum: "Then unlock it!" Green turns to Wadsworth, "Where's the key?" Wadsworth checks his pockets, "The key's gone!" Plum smacks Green in the chest, "Never mind about the key. Unlock the door!" Green grabs Plum and shakes him, "I can't unlock the door without the key!" Green rattles the door. "Let us in! Let us in!" Mustard and Scarlet: "Let us out! Let us out!"
Get better soon. From most I've talked to about getting over this, is REST. We'll be looking forward to seeing you feeling better and recording again soon.
This movie came out the same year as Back To The Future. I had no idea he was so young. The makeup was just that good I assumed Christopher Lloyd was that old
I loved "Reverend" Jim. His scene where he tries to cheat on his license test is iconic. "What does a yellow light mean?" "Slow down." "Okay. What............does............a....."
You inadvertently left out the best bit of the movie. Madeline Kahn, “flames… on the side of my face…”. Apparently, this was the only bit that was improvised.
My bad! Like I said in the intro, this is the first reaction not edited by me. Though even if I did edit it, there are no guarantees I would have left that line in.
Ive actually heard 2 different explanations. It was improvised because she forgot the line and remembered it, or she brought up the idea before filming and they liked it so that's how it was filmed.
Hope you feel much better very soon! Great reaction! A friend of mine who was in college in '85 loved this movie so much that when he found out from a friend of his that there were multiple endings (each theater got a different single ending) he went to different theaters to try to see how many different endings he could find, even traveling to nearby cities to try to find different endings. If I remember right he saw all three endings in the theater. He preferred the "real" one, as many of us did. Apparently the original plan was to have an ending where each character was guilty, just like how it changes every time in the game, but they ran out of time and funds to do seven different endings so we just got the three. Still, it is such a fun movie and I still enjoy watching it. 🙂
Get well soon, Kaielle! It's so cool that you got to meet THE Anakin Skywalker, even at the price of an illness. This review was a fun one to watch. I actually have a "reading room" in my apartment, as I opted to rent one with a little extra space as opposed to renting a smaller one and having to get a storage unit. The extra bedroom became my "library", as I have collected many books over the course of my life. Sadly, there's no cool secret passage in or out of it, though.
There is a Clue game on steam, and its pretty well done. Seen plenty of gamers use it, whether for enjoyment or content (or both). The game has different boards, weapons, and character designs for purchase, but the game is still the same.
My friends and I saw this in three different theaters when it came out, because when it came out that was the only way to see all three endings. Totally worth it. My favorite scene has to be be poor singing telegram girl getting shot because it was just so, so unexpected. Plus, I'm evil. Close second was Mrs White going "it-it- the f - it -flam - flames. Flames, on the side of my face, breathing-breathl- heaving breaths. Heaving breaths... Heathing..."
If you haven't yet go to the doctor. Those same symptoms can apply to pneumonia. I've had it 16 times over the years. 2019 being the most recent. Yes Leslie Ann Warren (Miss Scarlet) was in Pure Country.
The actor who played Mr. Green is Michael McKean. He is best known for playing Lenny in the hit Happy Days spin-off, Laverne & Shirley from 1976 to 1983. He was even a guest star twice on SpongeBob and he's in a political drama series on Netflix. And he is the last live cast member of Laverne & Shirley, because his co-stars Cindy Williams who played Shirley passed away in January of this year, David L Lauder who played Squigy passed away in 2019 and Penny Marshall who played Laverne who also passed away
I enjoyed Martin Mull's performance as Colonel Mustard in this. However, I first became familiar with him when he had a recurring role on "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch" in the late 90s and early 2000s as the high school vice principal. Another actress being considered for the role of Miss Scarlet was none other then Carrie Fisher, who is best known as Princess Leia from the "Star Wars" franchise. Unfortunately she was dealing with a few issues at the time, so she had to pull out.
I think one of Martin Mull's most iconic TV roles was playing Leon on the TV show Roseanne(1988-1996). I cannot quite remember what season he started on, but I think it was about half way through the show.
There were talks of a reboot to the movie with Ryan Reynolds in the lead, and that it was going to be directed by Jason Bateman. However, the FOX Disney merger in 2019 caused the film to be cancelled.
Grew up listening to all the great 90s country stars! I don't listen to country that much these days because nothing beats the wonderful sounds of the 90s and early 2000s!
I’m sure this has already been told but when this movie came out each theater had three different screenings with three different endings. Each one was labeled with a letter A, B, or C. So at least you knew which one you were watching. I was in high school at the time and went to see all three. How smart was Paramount getting people to pay for three movies. You can imagine how underwhelming the third time seeing the same movie except for the last 5 minutes was. I dare you to watch the whole thing three times and just change the ending. Still love it. Just not three times in a short period love.
This has been one of my all-time favorite movies since I was 6 or 7. It is the movie where Tim Curry became one of my favorite actors. Not to date myself (but I will...HaHaHa) I have owned 5 copies of this movie. I literally wore out 3 VHS tapes before they started making DVDs. I now own it on Blue-Ray.
I love the bullet count scene...1+1+2+1😅😅😅. John Mortis did the music. Hd was a gifted composer, that had a long working relationship with Mel Brooks. His music for the gangster spoof JOHNNY DANGEROUSLY is also a winner.
I've always assumed he was undercover and replaced the real "Mr. Green", who actually was gay and worked for the State Department, hence him being a plant. That last line was just meant to show that everything he'd said and done that night had been an act.

@mena94x3 I first saw Clue as a youngish child - Lesley Ann Warren was one of my favourite actors due to a Twelve Dancing Princesses adaptation she was in.
@@zoesumra9152 ... Shelley Duvall's Faerie Tale Theatre, correct? Many of those were super cute, only a couple I didn't necessarily like, but most were fun and quirky and totally enjoyable.
Tim Curry is an awesome actor. Other great movies he did Disney Three Musketeers Rocky Horror Picture Show which was his first movie Home Alone 2 The It Miniseries from the 90s
In the theater when first released you did not know what ending you were going to get. The people coming in behind you on the same screen would have a diff ent ending. All the endings together did not arrive until it hit VHS..
I always enjoyed 'Clue: The Movie' for the silliness of it. For my review of the movie, I recreated many of the scenes, and in a few I added additional scenes, such as explaining "Flames, flames" line, and where Mrs. Peacock got a taste of monkey's brains. I also toss in a dash of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show". More people should watch "Clue", and cosplay/reenact scenes as its characters, it's fun. I'm still eagerly waiting to see the new "Who Done It: The Clue Documentary". I love watching behind the scenes stuff, and interviews.
It seems like you missed it but, when Mr Green says he’s gonna go home and sleep with his wife, he said he was being blackmailed for being gay, he was in fact not gay.
Shame most of the best scenes were cut out of your reaction....But glad you enjoyed it :) NOW I get it though, you just listed your top 3 and no Mrs White who had the best scene in the entire film.....FLAMES, on the side of my face lol....
Hello Kaiielle, That was an awesome Reaction to the Movie Clue. Also, there were fantastic Secret Passages in the Movie. Also, I enjoy the movie Clue. Also, Did you enjoy the moments from the Movie Clue? Also, Hope that you are feeling better.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hope you're feeling better and not feeling so... uh... flames! flames on the side of your face! Breathing... bre... heaving breaths and all that. Madeline Kahn was the best.
Ok, Mr. Green making the claim of being homosexual at the beginnig, and you asking if he was going to "come out" without having done at the end. Oh the irony

The biggest mystery is did Mr Green really have a wife, or is that a coverup?
I've always assumed he was undercover and replaced the real "Mr. Green", who actually was gay and worked for the State Department, hence him being a plant. That last line was just meant to show that everything he'd said and done that night had been an act.
He does says he's a plant, I always thought that the real Mr Green had gone to the FBI and they put him undercover. 🤷♀️

@@zoesumra9152 - YES!!!!! I love that one too!!
@@zoesumra9152 ... Shelley Duvall's Faerie Tale Theatre, correct? Many of those were super cute, only a couple I didn't necessarily like, but most were fun and quirky and totally enjoyable.
Omg all these years I always thought it was Susan Sarandon in this movie 😮
Tim Curry is an awesome actor. Other great movies he did
Disney Three Musketeers
Rocky Horror Picture Show which was his first movie
Home Alone 2
The It Miniseries from the 90s
In the theater when first released you did not know what ending you were going to get. The people coming in behind you on the same screen would have a diff ent ending. All the endings together did not arrive until it hit VHS..
A fun movie of the mid 80's.
Oh wow. Subcribed.
It seems like you missed it but, when Mr Green says he’s gonna go home and sleep with his wife, he said he was being blackmailed for being gay, he was in fact not gay.
This is awesome!!! Subbed.
If you enjoy this movie I recommend you watch “Murder By Death” (1976)
Shame most of the best scenes were cut out of your reaction....But glad you enjoyed it :) NOW I get it though, you just listed your top 3 and no Mrs White who had the best scene in the entire film.....FLAMES, on the side of my face lol....
Prepare for a zany murder mystery!
Good luck figuring out whodunit. 😉
BBC Sherlock TV miniseries has Benedict Cumberbatch...if you're looking for a mystery detective show.
Lesley Ann Warren and Susan Sarandon are commonly mistaken for each other. I remember Susan talking about that on a talk show years ago.
No that isn’t Susan Sarandon. It looks like her. Christopher Lloyd is great in this movie. Mr Green is Lenny from Laverne and Shirley.
Ok, Mr. Green making the claim of being homosexual at the beginnig, and you asking if he was going to "come out" without having done at the end. Oh the irony
Lesley Ann Warren
In my top 5.
If you liked this movie and and love camp you need to check out Madeline Kahn in young Frankenstein, blazing saddles or history of the world part 1
Leslie Ann Warren is Ms. Scarlet
Good reaction
