Happy New Year Sandra! Thanks for all the videos you put out. Always look forward to seeing them. Have a great year trying new puzzles and enjoy the journey. It’s going to be a great year!
Reducing my ToDo pile was also a goal of mine. I didn't note how many puzzles I started the year with. My goal was to get all of my undone puzzles onto my display shelves and use my closet shelves for finished puzzles to sell or trade. I accomplished that by the Spring, then I set a goal to get my to do pile under 200, I achieved that in October, but after a swap and a few purchases I was over 200 again. I'm happy to say I ended the year with 196 puzzles in my to-do pile. This year, I aim to get it under 150 so I can display them more decoratively.
I failed miserably on my goal for 2024 of reducing my to do pile of puzzles. But, I feel optimistic that I can do it in 2025 because I understand better what I want from my puzzling experiences. Great video! Thanks for sharing your puzzle goals! I think I'm going to set a percentage reduction as a goal - so, maybe I'll reduce my to do pile by 25%, for example. So, if I do it by 18%, I can measure my progress in a semi-fun way.
Good to hear that you pretty much achieved your 2024 goals. Most of us will have a to do pile, it's learning to control it that can be difficult. Perhaps you should try sticking to only buying a certain number of puzzles per month. Look at how many puzzles that you have kept that really need to be kept. Ask yourself, am I going to do this puzzle again? If not then it can be passed on. The vast majority of the puzzles I do get passed on as I know I won't do them again. I hope that you will do well for any competitions that you decide to enter for 2025.
The majority of puzzles I complete are passed on either by donation or sale. My keep collection is very small but that to do pile is huge. Controlling the intake of puzzles is always a challenge for me, so that means I'll need to limit my purchases. Thanks for sharing and Happy 2025.
Great goals and you technically hit all of them! You tried new brands, you got better and speed puzzling, and you lowered your stash. They may not have hit as hard as you'd like, but you still hit them!!!! I really need to get my stash under control as well. The last I counted I had over 300. Between swaps and thrift stores, it tends to grow a LOT faster than I can puzzle!
Good luck reaching your goals in the new year . Our to do piles will continue to grow, it grows while we sleep... I think collecting puzzles is as much fun as doing them.... I do not do speed puzzling, but I do enjoy watching the Worlds .... I also like to try new brands.. I will check out Yazz... Happy New Year to you!!!
I did not set goals for 2024. But I am thinking of making more of an effort to try 'new to me' brands for 2025. I have a bunch I've purchased or traded in but haven't done them. Some are newer brands, some from other countries and some are no longer around like Tuco and American Publishing Co.
I just discovered speed puzzling couple months ago, I have been puzzling for years but never speed puzzling. Your videos have been very helpful. I aim to participate in the Canadian nationals in 2025. I live in Toronto and would love to meet you and practice together, learn tips and tricks and hopefully be someone’s pair or team’s partner. Could you please guide me help connect. Lots of love Katy! ❤
I think you had a great year, Sandra! I hope you can now leave speed puzzling now that you tried it. No disrespect to any puzzlers but I think speed puzzling is so dumb. It doesn’t even seem enjoyable and who cares how quickly a puzzle is done. Enjoy building it seems to be the whole point of puzzling.
Thank you. I won't be leaving speed puzzling but it's not my sole focus this year because I won't be going to Worlds. I'll still practice and hopefully participate in Nationals but I want to enjoy more casual puzzling in 2025.
I will continue practicing speed puzzling throughout the year but I'm hoping to have a better balance between casual puzzling and speed puzzling. I will not be going to Worlds this year but will hopefully participate at Nationals.
What a puzzling year you've had! The year was good for me too! I met all of my goals at World's. 😀My goals for 2025 are to keep improving my speed, continue to have a balance of speed puzzling and casual puzzling, and to keep connecting with puzzlers from around the world. 🧩
Happy New Year Sandra! Thanks for all the videos you put out. Always look forward to seeing them. Have a great year trying new puzzles and enjoy the journey. It’s going to be a great year!
Thanks! I'm looking foward to a great year of puzzling. Happy 2025.

That’s a great plan! I hope you achieve your goal of getting under 150 puzzles.

Setting a percentage reduction is a great idea! I think I'll need to incorporate it into my 2025 goals. Thanks for sharing.
@@thepuzzlingcanadian Feel free to use my idea! I'd love to follow along as you track your progress!

I know what you mean in regards to the every growing to do pile. Until I get it under control I am mostly selling and donating puzzles.
Pieces per minute is such a good metric!
It's a great comparison for different piece counts.

I agree, collecting is so much fun. Thanks for sharing and Happy 2025.
Happy New Year and happy puzzling in 2025 from Collingwood.
Thank you. Happy 2025 to you too.

I bet you have some excellent brands in your to do pile. Looking forward to seeing which new brands you complete throughout 2025.

I’m afraid to count mine 😂
I know what you mean.
Will you be doing more speed puzzling on 2025 or more casual puzzling?
I will continue practicing speed puzzling throughout the year but I'm hoping to have a better balance between casual puzzling and speed puzzling. I will not be going to Worlds this year but will hopefully participate at Nationals.
@ what brought me to puzzling was casual puzzling so I am glad to hear you want to balance the 2 types of puzzling 💕
