This is awesome! I love the idea that the blurry presentation in Skinamarink isn't just nostalgia bait, but rather a simulation of the experience of looking back at confusing/upsetting childhood memories. It's interesting that you watched the movie during the day, because I've found that the viewing experience becomes very different at night, especially with headphones. You can create very disturbing feelings in your audience without having to be overt or graphic! This is a great break into video essays. Keep it up!
Not bad at all! You're starting out, give yourself some grace. Its great that you found a love for essays and have DONE something with it. Keep going! I want to watch Skinamarink now
Dude be nicer to yourself, this was great! I like that you talked about the discourse about the morality of using trauma existent in the real world for the sake of entertainment. Maybe I'm being pedantic, but I've always been confused by that because that seems like the _point_ of horror. How could we be scared of a completely fantastical and unrelatable threat? Even something as conceptually detached from reality as the classic monster movie relied on the collective trauma societies imposed on themselves by fearing the "other".
@@elliart7432 thank you!!! yeah it’s a really interesting thing when it comes to real life horrors and such, it’s something that’s always interested me!
