Played this last Sunday. I play 5 and 6 string basses, almost exclusively. Played it in G and walked down to the low C on the chorus and back up to G. That low B string option adds an almost pastoral depth when played with an octave or chorus pedal. The Spirit of the Lord was there. Thanks for sharing your praise and worship ideas. God Bless!👑🎸🎵
Your Channel is a huge blessing to me and I sure many others. Your willingness to dedicate this time and talent will add many jewels to your crown, God Bless You-- Cedar Rapids, IA
great playing just started to play bass at 61 learning a lot form your playing even if I don't learn how to play just getting a blessing listening to song is enough
61! YESS! Way to go Gene! I love hearing about starting out on a new instrument any time (BTW, I began learning cello at 48). Please let me know how I can help you out brother. Thanks for the comment!
OMG! Why did I JUST stumbled upon your channel! Inspired?? Yes I am inspired to play the bass as well as you! Thank you SO MUCH for posting this song! Other people will never understand how amazingly simple yet NOT on how you're doing what you're doing! Thank you so much! God Bless you more! Subscribed!!!
Lol, those tips at the start, it's like you were talking to me. I come in early and I over fill as well. Thanks for this, really appreciate this. God bless.
This reminds me how badly I need to listen to other people play...I just learned a several cool new fills for this song that i never thought of and are way better than the ones I was doing. I get locked into the same boring ideas and every song our team plays starts to sound the same...Not just because of me, but I'm contributing greatly to the problem, because the bass has a powerful role (arguably THE most powerful of any instrument in a band) - our parts heavily influence the feel of a song, as we control basically half of the total beat, and also lay down the most potent part of the musical mode. Listening (to be sure: CRITICAL listening) is almost as important as daily practice...In fact, should be a part of any serious players' routine. Play a little, but then put down your instrument and listen a little.
I especially love your break-in fill (as I call it - coming into the first verse "age to age he stands") "da-do-dadwee-da-do-da-doda-doo-dooo...". Christian or not, you have to admit that was a sexy move, and turned you on at least a little :)
+statikreg thanks for the comment, and the reminder. I agree! Listening should even be considered as part of our practice routine! Let me know how I can help with future tutorials or covers. Mike
Thanks Marlond! I just run my bass direct into my Quick Time video recorder. It's just a good sounding, passive bass! Fender Jazz V American. Glad you like it!
You're definitely a good player but honestly I think the high parts are being over played later in the song and there's a couple places I would've dropped to the low C# on the turned around for greater dynamic impact on the louder sections of the song. God Bless.
+DavidRomeRecording thanks David! Yeah, you might find some more of that in a few of my vids:-). Love the C# idea! Thanks for your thoughts and for taking the time to comment. BTW, looks like you're in Columbus? I grew up in Youngstown. Columbus is a great city!
+Frimpeezzy I'm working on more detailed video lessons, but for now I'm offering lessons through Skype. Shoot me an email if you're interested! mikebrandenstein@gmail.com

What’s your setup when recording this? Having trouble with my Win10 cyclic clipping.
Nice work sir. What EQ do you use to get that quality of sound? Or do you use any compressor of effect to get that sound? GBU
