Im still so mad about the last season. The last couple were disappointing but the last was just so bad. It doesnt even resemble the first. Its a caricature- and Im making myself stop. I will not let myself go full on rant mode about it, even though, after all this time, just thinking about it makes me want to so badly.
This show hit hard for me too. The kind of things you see in the show is what I had to deal with as a kid, except I was an only child. My dad was just like Frank but worse because he acted like an asshole and would abuse me and my mom without being drunk. I no longer talk to my dad at all, but I still talk with my mom. I never really cared for my dad, but my mom was different. She was a good person deep down, unlike my dad, and when she was sober she was actually a really good mom. That scene when Fiona is yelling at Frank to get up and Ian telling her she is going to be stuck taking care of him made me cry so much because something similar happened with my mom. I remember her and my dad were passed out on Xans and I had to carry her to bed and once I laid her down I legit just started screaming at her. They didn't wake up of course because they were so out of it. I remember after I was done cussing her out I just sat next to her on the bed and cried. It's weird dealing with stuff like this, because you are always numb, until all of sudden everything hits you at once. I know after I finished crying I just went to my room and watched RUclips, like nothing had happened. Your brain comes up with weird coping mechanisms for shit like this. Like I said, I am still talking to my mom, but I haven't forgiven her yet. Especially because she is still with my dad even though he abused both of us. I have complex PTSD, Severe Panic Disorder, Agoraphobia, Anxiety, and Depression. Me and my mom still get into fights over him sometimes and we usually both end up crying, and she will tell me how sorry she is and how she knows she messed up, but then the next day will say, 'I don't even know why you are so messed up. Your childhood wasn't that bad.' I literally don't even know how to talk to her about it anymore. Now that I'm older though, I think a part of her just doesn't want to admit how bad of a person he is and how messed up our lives were. Because I have told her things that he had done to me as a kid, I'm not going into detail but it's very inappropriate if you catch my drift, and she flat out just asked me to go into detail of what he did. I told her no because it's disgusting and I don't want to talk about it because it makes me feel weird but she basically doesn't believe me because 'I won't tell her what he did.' When I first moved out of my parent's house, about half a year ago, I stopped talking to her for a while because I just needed a break from their toxic and abusive crap. I'm 19 now and I moved in with my childhood friend and her boyfriend who suffered through the same stuff I did. We all have jobs, don't use drugs except for weed if I'm being honest, and are saving money for the future. I think compared to how I was raised I am doing good for myself. It's still really hard though and I thought after I would've moved out my depression would kind of just, go away. Since they were the source of it but sadly no lol. I'm still dealing with my trauma and trying to cope with what happened. It's weird living a 'normal' life because when you live through stuff like that it becomes your normal. It's so different being able to walk around my own place and not worry about a drunk man storming into my room and not having to walk on eggshells. I'm still trying to get used to being normal lol. Also, I just realized how long of a comment this is, so sorry. I just wanted to say, you aren't alone and we may have gone through the same situations under different circumstances but I love watching your content because it helps me feel less alone outside of my friend group. I’m so so sorry for your story. I can tell we could close the coffee shop talking about stuff. Everything you’re doing is only going to take time. A combination of learning new things out and applying all the good and bad to a new path. Just getting it started is sometime the hardest part so you are well on your way. Be proud of what you e survived and made sure of that you are not like them. You are a survivor, like me. Once you see that, things will get easier. Sometimes even when it’s our family we have to remove ourselves from the fixity of it all in order to heal and move forward. Your mom is not ready to hear your truth but one day perhaps she will be. There are groups out there that you may find helpful on your journey to healing. Alanon being one of them. Many have shared a similar experience as you I have a son who battled addiction for 17yrs. He’s now been sober for two years. Every addict has a devastating impact on themselves and their family. I’ve sought outside help myself sue to my own trauma from dealing with my son. I was grateful for it. You may be as well. You have my prayers. It takes time to heal and to deal with depression that comes from the aftermath of it all. ❤❤❤
first off, i’m so proud of you for your sobriety. addiction is truly one of the hardest things to overcome, and not many people realize it, so we’re all happy you’re still here. as someone whose mother passed away from substance abuse, i can understand why you wouldn’t or couldn’t continue this show, because it does feel very real, but for that same reason, it’s my favorite show on the planet and i’ve rewatched it a hundred times. it weirdly brings me comfort and i’m almost convinced it has contributed to my grieving and healing journey with my mom. if you feel like you can continue watching, i absolutely recommend you do. take your time, take breaks, let yourself feel things. it’s an emotionally draining show to get through, especially if you’ve experienced substance abuse in your life, but it’s so worth it. either way, good luck with your recovery! and thank you for being so transparent.

Both of my parents are drug addicts. I'm 16 and dependent on Marijuana. My dads in prison, my moms sleeping around and I live with my dirt-poor aunt and uncle, and my uncle ALSO smokes marijuana, life is crazy and I've always liked shameless for its perfect mix of awareness and humor factor. Watching you react is like watching someone who isn't just there for the comedy, but for the raw factor of truth that comes with the Gallagher family. Dude Shameless is my comfort show! It’s funny asf yet gets more & more serious & intense. It should’ve ended after Season 7 honestly but i love the characters & it in general 🥹🙌🏼😩
What Ian doesn't understand right now, is that what Kash is doing is wrong. Not because Ian is a boy, but because he's a BOY. Ian is 15 and Kash is a grown man with a family.
It’s a hard subject to talk about for me. Trying to be understanding of Ian’s position but at the same time really not ok with Kash, no matter how nice he seems. This kind of stuff has been really present in this show and euphoria. And, they are being presented in different ways. But one feeling remains consistent for me throughout all of them. Anger, towards the adult. It’s just hard to express that on camera. Scary really. I’m not good at angry 😤 😂

I haven't watched this since it aired. I can't believe how young all the kids look. Your reactions are great. I love this show. It’s my favorite and I relate to it a lot because I grew up in a family with addicts and had to kind of take on that role as caregiver for my younger siblings a lot of the time. Definitely keep watching, because it only gets more drastic from here
It's weird, I can't cry with real life problems but I cry very easily when watching shows or movies. I feel maybe it's because I'm empathetic to other people so i cry when I watch other people's problems and situations but can't cry with my own problems. Also, I think its fairly different when 2 underage ppl in euphoria have relations vs a minor and an adult have them like Kash in shameless haha

2 months ago I realized I have an alcohol problem and it's been rough to say the least lol... but i've been trying to get sober and its really hard but now im 2 weeks sober now !!! I've talked to my therapist about this because of course addiction is a criteria for borderline personality disorder so it makes sense and she was so proud of me and happy for me i cried. She's the first therapist that actually cares about me so i'm very lucky to have her. Also i wanna say thank you because you helped me realize as well what i've been going through. I don't know you but i love you and are grateful for you. (i will say this, if at any point this show or ANY thing that you watch is triggering please pause or stop because YOU are more important than anything else!) Best of luck, a 28 year old with bpd

This show is so wild, the season where Fiona goes to prison after finally getting a good job, a good relationship and finally some form stability absolutely was gut-wrenching to watch, like watching the start of someone’s spiral of self-destruction and you can’t do anything about it.

The children also deal with substance abuse themselves as they grow up and develop their own relationships with drugs and alcohol throughout the serise... it's phenomenal. i definitely suggest watching it all
shameless is probably one of my favorite shows of all time, it kinda fell off after the 7th season but the last 2 seasons kinda make up for it. its just such a real and vulnerable show. just found your channel and love your reaction to it! love sheila so much. i think the line delivery of "Whose been eating my porridge" has to be my all time favorite of the show. Franks character is so unique because he's constantly making horrible decisions, and some how still insanely funny and charismatic in such an odd way, but ultimately you cant help but feel for him. The episodes where they go into his upbringing and his life previously to the kids hit insanely hard. The acting choices made by William H Macy truly make the character so special. This show does a great job of balancing humor with more serious plots in a way I've never seen in a show before. It handles such serious topics like addiction and mental illness amongst other things so well, especially for its time (in the earlier seasons specifically).
I feel like I should have read this before starting it 😂 well said on all points. Frank is going to test my patience for sure but I know you’re right when I comes to feeling for him in the end. My fav character ever was Sheila and since she was gone it just was a little bit less fun. Idk the shows from that time period were just so *shameless* and careless. The newer seasons just dont have that oldie vibe anymore

I did not realize how much this shit still affects me until I saw the kids pooling money to keep the electricity on. It was never voluntary for me, they just stole it, but that doesn’t change how it feels. I had to turn it off. Need a little more distance before I revisit this one.

I recommended this show to a friend and she couldnt even get through the first episode for how much it triggered her desire to smoke. Ever since Ive been especially aware of just how muc they do smoke on this show.

What Ian doesn't understand right now, is that what Kash is doing is wrong. Not because Ian is a boy, but because he's a BOY. Ian is 15 and Kash is a grown man with a family.
It’s a hard subject to talk about for me. Trying to be understanding of Ian’s position but at the same time really not ok with Kash, no matter how nice he seems. This kind of stuff has been really present in this show and euphoria. And, they are being presented in different ways.
But one feeling remains consistent for me throughout all of them. Anger, towards the adult. It’s just hard to express that on camera. Scary really. I’m not good at angry 😤 😂
@@7DeadlyBananas I definitely understand. This show does take a series look at these types of relationships (and other very toxic ones) multiple times, some better handled then others. Sadly this isn't even the worst we're shown.

Oh man I love Shameless! Excited to see someone reacting to it! I’m actually 5 years sober myself, started doing pain killers at 17 and up it to heroin by 19… so went a good few years addicted to that among MANY other drugs.
The term I’ve heard is “trash can junkie” 😂 we got our preferences but anything works.

I’ve seen all 11 seasons and as much as I try to I can’t hate frank, he has his moments, and the show only gets better and funnier than season 1, I can’t wait for the next episode reaction.

I love this show. It’s my favorite and I relate to it a lot because I grew up in a family with addicts and had to kind of take on that role as caregiver for my younger siblings a lot of the time. Definitely keep watching, because it only gets more drastic from here

It's weird, I can't cry with real life problems but I cry very easily when watching shows or movies.
I feel maybe it's because I'm empathetic to other people so i cry when I watch other people's problems and situations but can't cry with my own problems.
Also, I think its fairly different when 2 underage ppl in euphoria have relations vs a minor and an adult have them like Kash in shameless haha

I finished the show today, and im broken. It feels like ive lost family, feels like an era is over. I ugly cried for an hour and a half in the last 2 episodes.
Love these reactions. You add insightful commentary on each show you watch especially euphoria. Shameless and Yellowjackets are 2 of my favorite shows and it’s rare to find reactions for them lol.
I enjoy the dark topics that shameless introduces and speaks on. Like grooming, addiction, teenage pregnancy, growing up in poverty, etc. Its a great show. Carl and lip are my favorite characters

2 months ago I realized I have an alcohol problem and it's been rough to say the least lol... but i've been trying to get sober and its really hard but now im 2 weeks sober now !!! I've talked to my therapist about this because of course addiction is a criteria for borderline personality disorder so it makes sense and she was so proud of me and happy for me i cried. She's the first therapist that actually cares about me so i'm very lucky to have her. Also i wanna say thank you because you helped me realize as well what i've been going through. I don't know you but i love you and are grateful for you. (i will say this, if at any point this show or ANY thing that you watch is triggering please pause or stop because YOU are more important than anything else!)

It's funny hearing your intro music sample! If I'm not mistaken, it's from the original batman show and that's ironic to me because Ian the gay brother played the Joker in the TV series Gotham a few years back. Actually he played two different iterations of the clown prince of crime. He did an outstanding job in my opinion! Imagine that sweet little baby face playing such an evil B**tard, lol!

My whole family loves this show. We could name each character as a member of our family. I grew up in this choas and this show just hit all the emotions and humor of all of it when you look back at your life. Lol
🙌 😂 RIGHT?! It’s cool for me to see the differences in east coast vs west coast 😂 that’s just about the only contrast I can see. Everything else is totally comparable. And you are totally right. Looking back at my life isn’t all about the bad times. There were tons of good times too. While some folks may see it all as chaos, it was just life to me. I realize now that obliviousness is bliss when it came to my younger years 😂 the less I knew, the more I was able to be a kid. But the situation was too drastic for that to last long.
Still, the comedy with this show really pairs well with the rest. And there’s a realism there that’s warm for me.

This show is so wild, the season where Fiona goes to prison after finally getting a good job, a good relationship and finally some form stability absolutely was gut-wrenching to watch, like watching the start of someone’s spiral of self-destruction and you can’t do anything about it.
Ooooooo someone might get you for spoiling 🤣 I’m not worried though. Not only will I forget this but I can almost predict something like that will happen down the line anyway.

The children also deal with substance abuse themselves as they grow up and develop their own relationships with drugs and alcohol throughout the serise... it's phenomenal. i definitely suggest watching it all

shameless is probably one of my favorite shows of all time, it kinda fell off after the 7th season but the last 2 seasons kinda make up for it. its just such a real and vulnerable show. just found your channel and love your reaction to it! love sheila so much. i think the line delivery of "Whose been eating my porridge" has to be my all time favorite of the show. Franks character is so unique because he's constantly making horrible decisions, and some how still insanely funny and charismatic in such an odd way, but ultimately you cant help but feel for him. The episodes where they go into his upbringing and his life previously to the kids hit insanely hard. The acting choices made by William H Macy truly make the character so special. This show does a great job of balancing humor with more serious plots in a way I've never seen in a show before. It handles such serious topics like addiction and mental illness amongst other things so well, especially for its time (in the earlier seasons specifically).
I feel like I should have read this before starting it 😂 well said on all points. Frank is going to test my patience for sure but I know you’re right when I comes to feeling for him in the end. This show is going to hit all the strings and I’m looking forward to it.

My fav character ever was Sheila and since she was gone it just was a little bit less fun. Idk the shows from that time period were just so *shameless* and careless. The newer seasons just dont have that oldie vibe anymore

I did not realize how much this shit still affects me until I saw the kids pooling money to keep the electricity on. It was never voluntary for me, they just stole it, but that doesn’t change how it feels. I had to turn it off. Need a little more distance before I revisit this one.
