This is from June 1993, filmed at the BBC studios in west London on the afternoon of 12 June. Later that day the band played at The Forum, their only UK gig that year, and played a set mostly from their third album.RIP Tom.
It's weird how Richard Lloyd's playing here reminds me a lot of my own style, Strat and everything. Even his tone is the kind I'm always going for when soloing. Yet, I only ever listened to Marquee Moon a bit growing up. He and I must share some of the same influences.
only the right side is working but television still sounds great. brilliant songwriting and great performance from a legendary act. it's quite obvious that they inspired notable bands that came ofter them.
I'm sure that Tom felt intensively awkward when they told him "you are going to play a little introduction with all the other bands". And boom! The introduction has Richard Hell's Blank Generation chords.
En México fue transmitido unos tres años en Canal Once (una televisora universitaria) y sí, doblaban la voz de Jools y también las entrevistas. Era una medida ridícula, pero la música compensaba semejante dislate.
@@jejesus To me, Jools Holland dubbed into Spanish sounds cool as all Hell! But I don't know Spanish, so for all I know, he might have been reading off of a Chinese takeaway menu...
Everything else great but if anyone says Tom may he RIP is a good singer they are just ignoring honesty. I have to ignore the vocals the enjoy Television and a lot of Tom's solo stuff.
2023-01-28 we lost Tom Verlaine. It's great that we still have performances like this to remind us of his (and his band's) greatness!
whoa John Cale and Tom Verlaine in the same building together 😍😍😍
ruclips.net/video/3_H24Z6ux4A/видео.html performed this in the same ep
don't overlook the bass! he is another monster. The interplay between bass and the 2 guitars is fantastic. And the drums is amazing.
Groove to sell

Rip Tom Verlaine
Richard L can sure play guitar. He's so good.
He's a monster and I mean that in the best way.
Whether with Television, Matthew Sweet, John Doe or on his solo albums, he's a certified six-string sorcerer!
Richard also played with Chris Stamey and the DBs, and was amazing then
Didn't know Jules Holland was fluent in Spanish, talented guy!
😂
a great band...really great band ..Lloyd just knocks me out of my mind
This is astonishing
Grandissimi television, adoro, i miei intrecci di chitarra preferiti

I'd love to see this entire show...in English since I'm a monoglot!
BIlly Ficca is such a sick drummer.
and as solid as a human being as well. Uncommon in the music world.
He has a truly unique style that I’ve never heard before or since
seems to have recovered!
jools and his damn boogie woogie... however, the dubbing so effing hilarious..!
You can see where Thurston Moore got his style from.
And some David Byrne seems to have liked them too
@@fabienh3943 **(just randomly throwing references to appear cooler to the eyes of the the online public)
@@fabienh3943 apparently, during the CBGBs days, David Bryrne got pissed off because he thought his singing style was being copied.
"Television" sencillamente sensacionales.
Billy Ficca, great drummer (camco)
Man, do I love this album.
Came directly from a live '79 version of Dire Straits' "Sultans of Swing" to this. I'm in Fender Electric Euphorialand
Fuck this is hilarious, the overdubbing I mean ha ha ha....

Well spotted...I was thinking Teddy Bears Picnic!
This has to be the only time Tom Verlaine wore a baseball cap.
I remember watching this when it was on..think it was 93..fuckin ell it's 20 yrs ago!
Now is 29!
You're pretty old now mate
@@markewings7525 🤣🤣 Too right pal, turned 50 this year but still feel 21 ….with grey hair…but strangely fitter than I was 20 years ago

Man, did Echo and the Bunnymen love Television or what? Sounds like a eatb track.
I never really thought about that, but you're totally right.
They did a spot on cover of Friction. Verlaine loved it.

¿De donde es este doblaje? Suena latino, pero no recuerdo que algún país de latinoamerica transmitiera a Jools Holland :0
En el Film and Arts lo pasaban pero no me acuerdo si doblado o no.Programon.
