I had the greatest of opportunities to meet Heath Shuler. the University of Tennessee Medical Center held their annual Christmas party for children with lifelong kidney conditions. In December 1993, Heath came there personally to meet me one on one. Heath was incredibly kind and friendly. He is a true Volunteer legend and a better human being. What a thrill for a 7 year year old kid.

And soooo bad as a pro. In particular his stint with the Redskins. And he held out for 19 million. Now there's some chutzpah.

Yep loved watching Heath play at UT. He had a gun for an arm but he was accurate. Defenses were just a step behind thinking he would beat them on a scramble even though he didn’t have any long runs in game…..something about him definitely got in their heads. It was obvious. Man they had some above average QBs for that stretch. Kelly, Shuler, Manning, and one of my favorites T Martin! Those analysts and announcers continued to backhand him about his arm strength and decision making…..it was crazy be 3rd and long and he’d move the chains with his feet over and over. Undefeated in 98 and as loaded as that team was, you can’t get there without a really good QB. Anyway loved HEATH SHULER, he reminded me of a more athletic **** ***** the gunslinger. 😆 left out the name didn’t want to offend thin skinned fans and be attacked for comparing. GO VOLS!!!
Give the like and a sub for doing this one. 👍

I grew up in the Greater DC Area so I remember when he was drafted and Gus Frerotte wasn’t much better but was drafted in the 7th round of the same draft as Shuler for the Washington Commanders and ended up being the better pro

I live in Manassas VA, but a diehard Vols and Cowboys fan, and when the Redskins drafted him, my heart broke. Talk about being thrown to the wolves, the o-line for Washington was horrible!! Idk if he went to a better team if he could have developed into a solid NFL QB, but his impact on Tennessee football is undeniable. One of my all-time favorites, and I appreciated the content.

    Look Heath was good in
College. But also with the line he had protecting him and the backs and receivers I could have pretty good numbers and I’ve never played QB!!! Don’t get me wrong I’m a fan but those teams were very talented.

No lie on the running back corps. James Stewart, Charlie Garner, and Aaron Hayden all played in the NFL. Mose Phillips was a beast a fullback, and we all saw how good Jay Graham was a couple of years later on.

Peyton Manning and Andy Kelly also played on talented Tennessee teams like Rick Clausen as well

My memories of Heath Schuler consist of a bowl game in which we were seriously behind (Penn State I believe) and he was on the sideline laughing and cutting up. I'm not a fan!

It was 21-17 going into the fourth quarter, Shuk=ler threw for a total of 4 passes that entire season, there's a 100% chance the way you remember it is wrong.
      Also, you're dumb.

You should have showd some of his hand off fakes, dude tricked the camera men multiple times a game. I remember one the camera man followed the running back till Shuler was out of the frame and then he had to pan back. LOL.
