goes to show how a good portion of FOB's fan base is a joke. hahaha seriously. pete is a lyrical genius. but you always see comments on youtube about his appearance about how he acts on interviews and while they're performing. imagine being objectified while you put your heart and soul to songwriting.
pete wrote it about himself and about patrick. he wrote it as a promise to patrick that he’d never attempt suicide again and also to tell patrick basically how great he is. people think “i’ve got troubled thoughts and the self-esteem to match” is in patrick’s perspective kinda and it’s pete’s way of telling him he should love himself. (this is based on everything I’VE seen so i could be wrong)
***** well, the mic is irrelevant, autotune is applied to the sound once it's at a mixing desk probably. But the reason he's is autotuned here is because patrick could not consistently hit the notes before the haitus. He was not a healthy guy, they were partying too much, touring for years, he was overweight and his body was not good. Look at the incredible improvement as soon as he takes some time off to improve himself, halfway through the hiatus he's in his damn element, had some time off to get better. He's damn brilliant now but he was not good live before the hiatus. For the record, listen to any live performance prehiatus and if you know what to listen for, you'll hear that it's almost certainly either autotuned or bad
the whole band just drifts to the background so it's patrick up there, singing his heart out, singing words that were meant for him and him alone. is anyone else crying cuz i just
This song normally never fails to make me cry but with the way Patrick's glasses and hat cast the shadow on his face that look like the >:) thingy I can't stop laughing. This is too much rn
I agree with everyone else, Patrick is flawless here. Also, so nice to remember a time when 90% of people in an audience didn't have to have their cellphones out at concerts.
Despite the pitch correction, this song is so gorgeous to listen to. I remember Patrick talking once about how Pete was writing from the perspective of a character, but the words somehow managed to capture the emotions that Patrick felt so well, as if it were his own words. That's how much of a lyrical master Pete is, and Patrick's music writing complements it so well. The dynamic duo that have been blessed with musical gifts from Heaven above.
Especially in this song, Disloyal order, Coffees, Alone together, and young volcanoes. The ones from believers never die less so, but the vocals from Folie definitely hits you like a damn brick wall
IF ANYBODY WANTS TO KEEP THEIR HEARTS DON'T READ THIS, YOU KNOW THAT INTRO IN THE BEGINNING THAT PETE DID. HE WROTE THIS FUCKING SONG ABOUT PATRICK. I'M DYING OF FEELS.
+Xx † xX actually he did write it about himself, but in Patrick's point of view. He's comparing himself to Donny, and Patrick to Roberta, the songwriting duo just like them. And Donny actually killed himself so this song is like a promise to Patrick that Pete will not try to kill himself again and whatever they face they'll face it together (Pete attempted suicide once)
+Lucy Hagan +Xx † xX actually he did write it about himself, but in Patrick's point of view. He's comparing himself to Donny, and Patrick to Roberta, the songwriting duo just like them. I love this song and it is a wonderful performance, but one my favorite parts is when at the end they sing grand theft autumn, sugar we're going down, dance dance, this ain't a scene and thanks for the memories. I was looking forward to hearing that at the end. Oh well. Still amazing :)
Everyone needs a Patrick. Shared this with mine. In the beginning of our friendship we bonded over FOB. Over a decade later, we’ve seen some real shit together, and this song becomes more of a best friend anthem every year. What a catch, Pfanzy.
I recognize the individual work of each one of you ^ ^, if they are happy as they are want to be more. But you pass me a different emotion when they are together, not only for me, for all the fans who still keep you in the heart. Time passes, you are happy, we live our lives and never forget you Fall Out Boy S2 S2 thanks for the memories S2
What A Catch, Donnie is a beautiful ballad which requires a high falsetto during the chorus & deep vocals during the verse. Patrick has both :) The mild auto-tune makes some of the high notes sound robotic, but it definitely polishes up the performance to near flawless :D
So I watched this video for the first time today. It literally made me cry. Not ever have I cried solely on an artist's voice. I've always loved Patrick Stump and his voice. But this is the first time I've ever cried. The way he sings it in here is amazing and I have the highest respect for this man. He will always be my favorite singer and this will always be my all time favorite band
God this performance takes me back 💯🔥🎸🤟🏼🥁 Patrick's voice is phenomenal live also I'm that friend that Pete mentioned in the beginning I feel like a loser
@TheDapsen Agreed. Though it's not quite noticeable on most parts due to the fact that Patrick has an amazing voice and can hit most of the note, when he fluxuates, you can hear it.
one of the best fall out boy performances ever. i love u guys! and i have to admit when the backing tracks all play in the original song, this song's ending almost turns into some kind of bittersweet goodbye...
“Uhhh you know when you have that friend who thinks they are a loser and you know they are not a loser and you just wanna be like, hey idiot... yeah this song is about them” 😂😂
Good GOD!! Before I came here, I was looking up some pre-FUtCT live performances, and I remember thinking Patrick would never be a live voice ever. But Jesus Christ this video just blows me away... Even though I'm nowhere near being a fan of FOB's direction since FUtCT, this is for some reason speaks to me and is one of my favorite FOB songs.
What a voice, Patrick
You just made my day XD
Laurine Brisy right??❤️
Laurine Brisy 😂😂😂
absolutely - within the first seconds
The illumination makes Patrick looks like he has angry eyebrows.
Thought I was the only one who noticed
Ahaha! I know right? It looks really weird!
Gonzalo Folli once you see it, you cant unsee it
Gonzalo Folli yes. I was watching every video of this concert and couldn't figure out where his real eyebrows were
pensé que solo yo me habia dado cuenta xD
This will forever be the most underrated fall out boy song
This is like the goodbye song from the emo years and their genre.
Underrated?
What about "The (After) Life of the Party" or another Folie song, like "Tiffany Blews?" Just saying.
Well..

FireFlies Exactly.
AGH
Chemical Prisoner Pete partially wrote it about his own struggles but he said he wrote it with Patrick on his mind.
Then all the people that said Patrick sounds bad live suddenly died...
+Kylie Ryckman he sounds like T-pain here....
+MonkeyTurtle100 well, you gotta do what you gotta do

Isn’t the pitch correction amazing here -_-
@@kimberlykitty3449 wym
Prejudize while his voice is amazing, definitely some auto tune going on
@@waffleskater8 I'm putting 2 n 2 together here and I'm realizing that that performance sounds alot like the album, so thx 4 pointing that out

This is too much rn
I thought I was the only one who noticed that lol.
I CAN NOT WATCH THIS VIDEO THE SAME WAY AFTER READING THAT
Crash Queen kkkkk its true
This is my favorite comment
Crash Queen I was just going to comment that 😂
I agree with everyone else, Patrick is flawless here. Also, so nice to remember a time when 90% of people in an audience didn't have to have their cellphones out at concerts.
And Im commenting on my comment cause I have played this like 40 times in the last 2 days. Thanks for this upload OP.
OK BOOMER
Yeah
If anyone ever says that Patrick isn't very good live, show them this video.
Patrick has the voice of an angel.
Alecia Ramsay He just IS an angel

That intro alone makes me wanna cry omg if I could be there live seeing 2009 Patrick sing this I would break down in tears for 12 years
Delphine Joyce agreed
Patrick's eyebrows are on fleek 👌😂
Its the shadow from his glasses 😂 But it still looks amazing
me: don't cry don't cry don't cry don't you dare fucking cry
brain: why don't we do it anyway? (but craft also)
The whole time I was like craft, craft, craft more.
I'm laughing through the tears at Patrick's glasses shadow
Sophia S this is so emo
Patrick is one of the most underrated vocalist, his voice just hits you like a fucking brick, you feel it in your soul...

JOE NEEDS TO SOLO 200% MORE IN ALBUMS
No guitar solos? I've taken shits with bigger rock stars than them
The shadow of his glasses are making me cry X'D
4:04 i was waiting for the medley =( that's my favorite part of the song.
Me too
Same
He never seems to do it live which is understandable but I'd just love to cry myself to sleep hearing that medley live 😂
holy cow, patrick's vocals sounds so flawless in this performance!!!!
Everytime I hear this song I cry so hard
Damn so good. I just can't stop thinking that the shadow from his hat makes him look like he has evil eyebrows.

HE WROTE THIS FUCKING SONG ABOUT PATRICK. I'M DYING OF FEELS.
Not exactly. In the beginning , Pete was talking about himself. He wrote the song about himself, for Patrick to sing.
Pete has said in an interview that he wrote it about Patrick. In the song he is comparing himself to Donny Hathaway and Patrick to Roberta Flack.
Oh interesting. I knew Pete had depression so it seemed to me that he wrote this song about himself for Patrick to sing.

Truly the work of an angel.

I HAVE A SOUL VOICE -Patrick Stump, may this quote always be remembered as the start of something great
This is such a flawless vocal performance from Patrick, it's beautiful
Pete is such a beautiful human being... also, wonderful performance :)
Awww. cx Pete wrote this about Patrick, and he said that at the beginning... best friends forever
The only time I cry at songs is when I can relate... I cried and I couldn't breathe.
It's impossible to get sick of this song
this song is a try not to cry challenge
I definitely failed then
Pete was talking about Patrick in the beginning. I'm crying
“you know when you have that friend who just thinks they’re a loser and you know they’re not a loser? and you just kinda wanna be like, ‘hey idiot’?”

those were all song by different people (elvis costello, brendon urie, to name a few) so it might not work

Holy crap! This is the greatest I've seen Patrick live and it sounds so amazing.
Patrick just finished the first line, and I think this is the best FOB live performance I've ever seen already
i can just hear the brendon urie singing ‘dance dance, we’re falling apart to half time’ during the medley even though it’s not there
Perfect. I miss them
What A Catch, Donnie is a beautiful ballad which requires a high falsetto during the chorus & deep vocals during the verse. Patrick has both :)

Fucking Pete, he has a way with words. 😂
“Uhhh you know when you have that friend who thinks they are a loser and you know they are not a loser and you just wanna be like, hey idiot... yeah this song is about them” 😂😂
I'm really enjoying, though repeated... the main guitar riff.
