Vile and evil russia, behaving like any big criminal: attacks a peaceful neighboring country. Starting to murder and demolish, to hurt, wound, lie, steal, rape and torture.
UE: starts to help the neighbor to defend itself. Decides to not buy stuff from the criminal any longer.
      How is that blackmail?

Germany always over promises but under fulfills when it comes to helping to defend Ukraine against Russia. It’s understandable that German energy needs depend on its cooperation with Russia. However, if Russia overruns Ukraine, only Poland stands between Germany and the Russian invasion.

You must be an expert for German politics and economy. Superb! Ever thought about a collapsing German economy and the results for Europe? Many large companies here rely on gas and oil and if they shut down their production lines and release enployees, all Europe will feal this! And we talk here about 10.000s maybe 100.000s of unemployed. And our economy is already bulged in by the pandemic and interrupted suply lines. And now this!
Yes, we have to do more in terms of help. But cutting off all gas supplies from 100 to 0 is suicide!
And btw- where did we over promise anything and under fulfilled these promisses? We delivered what we promissed! We even delivered more- see MARS 2 and PzH2000! And what about 1.2 billion Euros for weapons we gave Ukraine? I didn´t hear anything about weapon orders so far (except 100 PzH2000)!

Germany trusted, that russia would also see how it benefited from mutual trade. But russia lied and betrayed all trust given. That's not Germany's fault, is it? Though it was a bit short sighted and Germany was warned for the claws of the bear. Now it pays the price for that.
But in no way is Germany sponsoring russia. It's trying to end it's dependence upon certain russian goods as fast as possible. And taking hard hits for that.

If only vile russia had not started this evil and brutal war! But it did. It's behaving like a huge criminal. We cannot have him roam about unrestrained, now can we?
So, we take the smaller hit and feel the cold. It's not nice. It's not deserved either. But it is necessary and nothing compared to the hurt done to the poor Ukraine.

@@jerrymiller9039 mate, I'm the last person defending Germany, but that list is far longer and extensive than I expected. Especially if you consider, that Germany's military is down bad and needed this 100 billion € package. They're sending what they can and you don't even know what they're doing under the hand. Be happy with what they give and ask for more, but be nice while you're at it. The SPD and greens are literally the party for pacifism and that they have to deal with Russia and weapons is blowing my mind. Scholz has to be careful with what he does, to not split his party and make ruling impossible. Because, as you can see on the internet, there are still many, that dislike the idea of being part in any type of conflict whatsoever. Be it the misguided love for pacifism, give Putin what he wants and he will let us be, or some type of thinking, we've done so many bad things to the Russians, we can't kill them now (or help Ukrainians kill them with our weapons), the anti American doctrine, or Russian propaganda, they've fell for... Etc. I'm not saying that any of those ideas are right. I hope, that in the future Germany gets it's act together and steps up to the plate, as a country with an economic power like Germany should, but until then, it takes a lot of time and a different population, i fear. Plus the idea, is a nice one. Imagine, we need no tanks, no weapons, no military. There's no death in war, we have to deal with and wars are only something far away, unimportant to us. A nice though, for a time gone now. And the idea of getting close by economic ties is one, i think would've worked if it wasn't for Putin and his ways.

@@jerrymiller9039 most likely because: A) we can't really send equipment from our military directly, since we simply don't have much, B) we don't really have soviet era weaponry left in Germany to begin with & C) thank Chancellor Scholz for taking so long to send hardware in the first place, since he is the one blocking everything, lying, finding and hiding behind excuses and giving empty promises.
That said our weapon industry does have quite a bit of military equipment and hardware ready and is also in the process of repairing stored heavy weapons, mostly older IFVs & MBTs. But if Scholz and his party keep on blocking those companies from actually supplying Ukraine with what they can send, well... If we wouldn't have our Foreign Minister + her party we probably would've send way less.
While it is, in the end, way less than I would like to see Germany sending to Ukraine, it's not as little as people r making it look like still, especially since, like I said, our military simply has pretty much sent what it can by now.
Simply the result of 16+ years of conservatives leading Germany while being good friends with Russia, leading us into the situation we r in rn while ignoring all clearly visible signs of what was about to come + forgetting our military & its problems (since it's not only a "not enough money" problem, but a big structural problem, which will not be fixed by the extra 100bil € pumped into the military).
It has its reasons why Russia interfered in our last vote, to prevent our now foreign minister to become chancellor, with Russian bots fueling fake news campaigns against her and her party, while the right and conservative scene teamed up playing perfectly into Putin's hands and jumping in on that witch hunt. The Greens have a pretty clear stance against Russia since quite a few years now, which is a risk for Russia of course, since only a weak Germany is a good Germany for Russia. And weak we became indeed, with our dependency on Russian gas, oil and coal and with a Kremlin backed fascist party receiving way too much attention over the last years, while the conservatives led us right into Putin's trap.
