I love the model 71, but wouldn't want to alter my original Winchester deluxe model. Yet I'd love to play with one of the wildcats that've been done on the .348. Had considered finding one of the Browning Miroku made ones to rechamber or re-barrel, but I think I'll wait for this one. Great idea!
Those little bitty bullets in a bottleneck cartridge...don't know. How about 500 S&W, or 500 Linebaugh, or 50 AK? Real interested to see what you do, Mike. Always admired Winchester's Model 71. Thanks for keeping the ol' girl alive.
I don't know a new bottle neck cartridge in a open sights configuration will be hard to launch. Every eagle eyed open sights shooter I know running a lever action for hunting is fairly happy with 30-30 Winchester. I think that knowing the caliber is a little light and that a absolutely perfect shot is necessary and practicing regularly to ensure you are able to do this ethically is half the fun. A handful upgrade to 45-70 with custom proprietary loads for extremely large and it dangerous game but most stick to 30-30. There's a few in between cartridges like 35 Remington and 32 win special are probably the only two worth mentioning but I really am dying to know what this gun will be chambered in.
This is Pure Americana!!!! What is more American then big powerful lever action rifle. It looks like a 348 Ackley improved? And make one 50-110!!!! Same case can used to make both. Put me on the list I want one.
I would love both caliber's. If you don't already know theirs a RUclips channel called Lever guns 50 and he has 2 50-110's and they are awesome. I'm a revolver and lever action guy and I'm addicted to them, along with several 1911's and 1 from Cimarron. Another good channel is The Adventure Cowboy and he review's Cimarron gun's along with Pedersoli firearm's. He doesn't post very often, but when he does it's always good content. Lever guns 50 hand load's his own ammo and most of the time he gets around 5,700 ftlbs of energy. A month or two ago he loaded a hot one that got over 6,400 ftlbs of energy, if I had shot that my shoulder would've been 2 counties away. Have a great day my 2A friend! Sincerely Ruger Rich
@@richardcolligon4277 I know Lever guns 50-110, great channel. He had to customize his rifles by rebarreling the rifles to 50-110 and the 348 Ackley improved. To get a rifle from the factory in 50-110 and 348 Ackley improved would be outstanding. And save about 1000 dollars on custom Gunsmithing.
@@hungarianhillbilly4144 absolutely! I know he made one out of a 45-70 and I'm not sure about the other one. I love his channel. I'm a big Henry fanboy and I thought I knew a lot about lever action rifle's until a couple of year's ago when I started watching him. Then I knew I didn't know crap. FYI back in 1976 I was driving an airport limousine out of Philadelphia and one night on my last run I got to take one of my hero's to a hotel in New Jersey. It was Chuck Conner's the rifleman himself and he was my only fare. I was 19 and he didn't know me from Adam and he was such a nice guy and we talked for 1.5 hour's about our favorite subject baseball. He had played MLB for a little while, he also played in the NBA for the Boston Celtics and had broken several record's. Finally we sad goodbye and he shook my hand and only 2 week's ago I got feeling in my right hand. ( Lol ). Ruger Rich
I’ve boughten two Cimarron pistols, and they’re both dogs. The 73 has a bc gap of .011 and the Tuco is impossible to breakdown, and impossible to get the barrel assembly on tight. Enjoy your vintage collection Harvey ... that I helped you buy. Never again.
Awesome TY for sharing
Very nice rifle to remake cant wait
I love all of these videos! I love learning about all of these firearms!
Love it!
Very nice.
You don't have to worry about that action. It is super strong. I just picked up one (.348) at auction made in 1954.

Hey I'm located in Kentucky and I want to buy one of your guns. Do you have any stores in my area?
I didn't hear what caliber? Is that to be announced, too?
He talks about the (potential) caliber in the description box below the video.

I saw several of your videos and was going to subscribe until I saw some of your political shirts, now you are blocked.
Boo hoo
