One of my favorite songs on the album. It has the same "You're crying now but it's good crying" quality that Spirits Will Collide does for whatever reason
There’s nothing that is meaningless. Everything happens for a reason regardless of whether or not we understand. We’re here to have humility and humble ourselves before Him, not to extrapolate meaning from what goes on around us. This is in effect a dress rehearsal, not a search for truth. Looking at the night sky and feeling insignificant isn’t selfish… it’s lacking in faith that God is who He says He is, and in spite of our seemingly insignificant role in all this, He still values and loves each of us.
Listening to the demo, I can definitely see why the official Lightwork version made the changes. It sounds much more uniform for me, it outshines the demo.
man... this song is so beautiful. As I traveled around Portugal, I listened to the entire album several times. and this song still reminds me of every wonderful experience I had there. I thought I could stay in Portugal until the show in March, but I had to go back to Brazil first. You could come to Brazil someday.
Talk about synchronicity, I just met a friend who is visiting my town. We have Devi tickets booked in November, on the way home my last album played was transcendence, this song came up and I thought, wait a minute I know this, it’s not on this album. So I found this video that explains it was a demo on that album! We were chatting about his friend having one of those inverter chairs for your spine because I wanted one. Weird 😂
I've been waiting for this explanation for a long time and now that I heard it, I understand why I love this song so much. I love the stars, I love the universe and this reminds me that I need to spend a bit more time admiring the beauty and the majesty of the universe. Just imagine listening to this song under a starlit sky with the Milky Way going across the sky. Thank you Devin for this wonderful piece.
Thank you for making such beautiful songs. Everytime i'm feeling bad, your heartouching music gives me hope and smile. Makes me feels like there's so much beauty to watch, listen, touch and smell in this world, even if everyone tell you there's not. Can't wait to see you on tour in Paris on 26th March. Greetings from all the French fans Mr TOWNSEND ! 😍
I don't think we can ever really know, he's spoken about it before. We are too small to comprehend the infinite. He tried haha It better to just be amazed by it all, I think in that, there is a sense of understanding, but not knowing.
We're like a 2gb USB stick trying to load 500TB of information. We're just not built to understand the whole universe lol maybe if we integrated with technology or something we may be able to understand and process it all but that's some deep future stuff 😆 I like to think we can just appreciate the vastness of it all and enjoy being a part of it, understand what we can, and be content with that..
Thank you for sharing your humanity with us so candidly, Devin. It comes through in your music, and I (and many others) are enriched and better for it.
This song is many things to me. It’s a genuine moment of vulnerability in the most epic way imaginable. The demo on Transcendence was great… but this final form is otherworldly. Thank you as always Devin. I try not to have heroes, but you’re on the short list ❤️
I felt moved to share something with you because of your comments on religion. (not that it was anything bad.) This has been on my mind lately as I read comment sections on news stories about something awful people are doing in the name of religion, especially politically lately. Regardless of anyone's perspective on religion, people shouldn't just give a blanket dismissal to religions in general based on their life experiences with the people practicing their version of it. Sometimes the (sorry, had to) Celestial Signals folks could be getting from the Spirit of whatever faith it is they are looking at gets eclipsed by focusing on the actions of the people practicing it. That doesn't make the religion itself bad, or even the people twisting it to their purposes. We are still after all human beings & flawed. ANY group of humans is going to have a mix of positive and negative people in it that do good & bad things. It is easy to just casually dismiss a faith by saying "Everyone's a hypocrite", but that's just being intellectually lazy. As in most things, if one really wants the truth, one must put some effort into doing some research & find out what is good and bad about the precepts & doctrine they are SUPPOSED to believe & evaluate that. If you were going to start watching the NFL but all you see are Raiders fans (for example) & a bunch of whiny millionaires, you are going to go check out soccer. A wise man once said "Ah yes, religion. It always seems to be conflict between whose interpretation of the same things are correct.". Seems like it was in a video... It'll come to me. )) This is so true though. So many unfortunately use their interpretation to give them a reason to justify their prejudices, hate & fears. It doesn't have to be that complicated. Look to the crucial basics, don't get bogged down in minor doctrinal differences. Sometimes the easiest way to evaluate these things is "If it's a bunch of lies, hate, anger & fear, it sure ain't love.". For example, when it comes down to it, Christianity's core message is "Be excellent to each other!" Love your neighbor. Don't cause harm to others. Do all the good you can. Peace is a good thing. If those simple rules are followed, it's a great way to live. However, when people see folks being ugly toward each other, twisting these lovely concepts 180 degrees & the blatant hypocrisy of "Yeah, but ... not THEM, right? They're a different (fill in the blank)", they get hung up on that, stop objectively evaluating & extrapolate the observations of a few inconsistent people to include everyone in that group. Problem with people like that is the loudmouths, clowns, charlatans, drama llamas & con men get all the press, because that's what sells. "(some church) had a day where they went into the community and fed people, helped them fix their house / car & took care of various needs" does not work as internet clickbait on today's web. Stories about extremist evangelical groups advocating using violence to impose their version of morality on the nation and force everyone to believe as they do (or else) is far more interesting to most, sadly. I think this says what I am trying to say best: "2 people read the same Bible (or anything else) One sees reasons to love / The other reasons to hate One sees unity / The other division One finds prejudice / The other equality One discovers compassion / The other indifference One goodwill / The other malice Two people, One book, Two views. *The Book is a Mirror. The reflection is you.*" So, sermon over. I would pass the plate, but someone stole it. Sigh. Sorry I ran on a bit there. It's kinda my thing. )) Anyways, I love this song. It is one of my favorites on this record. Love you too, Devy. Thank you again, my friend. You are a great light in our lives. Bless you all, give peace a chance - and be excellent to each other!
Dude I wouldn't normally make these claims, but according to the statistics I'm one of your number one fans, and that's only last year's statistics 🤷♂️😁🦧
Also the thing that I understand about death, is that idk what makes everyone think they are the thing that dies. Your body does, your spirit might, but to hell with it. Gotta move on at some point lol. At the end of your life, there's nothing left for you but suffering. So just leave life in the best way you can. I know for Devin it will be a beautiful rapture. Void of suffering of course. Pure clarity. Makes you think, do we have qualitative and quantitative differences swapped around. To some degree I do think so lol...

I absolutely agree @RubyRoks

When Devin says Heartwork : D
True words, 100%
Transcendence version will always be deep in my soul and imho the perfect version, but Lightwork is a beautiful journey as well!

What he said.
This is my favourite song of the album. I am currently on a strange path of life but there is also beauty in it and this song resonates with me.
Well done to the producer on that amazing suggestion.
It’s my favourite song on the record
4:55 "I don't think that any of us know..." Do you know that any of us don't know?
Love your latest album! I wish I had 1/100th of your voice.

Always was fond of this track ever since it came out like what, almost seven years ago. Fits the album like a charm!
Edit: that haha Carcass got me!
The demo version of this song was an immediate favorite for me. The Lightwork version is an already amazing song made more so. ❤

My fav song off Lightwork, it’s an anthem ❤
I could listen to Devy for hours. 💯❤️🔥
One of my favourites on the album. It’s had me in tears a few times. Really beautiful
I think that you are a very deep thinker Devin and I very much enjoy your contributions !
Easily one of my faves on the album
Ties as my fav on the album with equinox.
Just amazing. Brilliant. Perfect. I love it so much
Suffering may be a part of life, but I'm damn tired of it. Time for some buffers to be installed into this construct.
Wow, that gave me a LOT to think about and a wonderful new perspective! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on this! ❤️
Devin can you please come and do a show in Ireland 🇮🇪 🙏,
Favorite track on the record! So so so good
Love hearing how you worked your magic thanku so much for sharing much love an God bless always x
Love your music! Glad to know you're still hard at work creating!
“Heartwork…hehehe, Carcass…”
This song is so good!
I knew that chorus/bridge swap was Garth’s fault. I’ll admit it was a letdown when that glorious chorus never arrived, but I’ve gotten used to it.
Well the Transcendence demo is always there for us to listen to. I think I prefer the demo as well, but this version is pretty okay 👍
💕🤘💕🤘💕🤘
😻💖
Carcass?? 🤣🤣 Nice one!
