Do you think that being turned down by Sainz, Alpine and/or Renault (together or apart) will now reject the bringing in of Merc engines and perhaps find an excuse to boot Briatore? He's failed at his (apparent) task of getting Carlos on board, and seems to be causing some problems behind the scenes. Just a thought. But then again I've been watching F1 since Graham Hill was concluding his driving career (actually undoubtedly earlier, on the odd occasion a race was shown on TV, sitting on Dad's knee lol), and as a result, my cynicism is unbounded. ╮(. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)╭ Another thought, Fred has got to be regretting his "lifetime" signing for AM. I'm convinced he only did it because of what happened with Lewis and Mercedes ("I can get my team to give me what I want. You couldn't!") I know that sounds a tad childish, but it wouldn't be out of character. What do you think? Something to ponder during the downtime? (◠‿◕)
Carlos really had no choice but to sign with a "back marker" team. Talking about you, Red Bull, Mercedes. Audi hasn't done anything to make the Sauber any better and Alpine is in managerial chaos. No, Williams isn't very good, but they're stable and very hungry to move up the grid and even world championships. James Vowles is bringing Williams up to the present. Williams will be a better team with Carlos and Alex. I'd be happier if Carlos was retained by Ferrari but that ain't happening. Vamos Carlos, vamos Williams.
Im ready for a williams comeback, they are dedicated to improving and have spent a lot of money improving their facility. Audi is talking big game but they have no experience in F1 so that means nothing. Mercedes deserves whatever crap they have coming, they should've scooped up carlos immediately. Really Antonelli over carlos???
Maybe he can go back when Hamilton retires... Charles is obviously cursed to stay forever for selling his soul to win in Monaco, so maybe they could be team mates again later?
I love how Law can actually see the truth with the whole Logan situation; really shows how in-tune Law is with everything F1 (unlike many others). But, Logan's never been given a true chance to show his full potential and its sad to see most people just write him off based off of looking at a name next to some numbers without looking at the context of them. While he was never given the tools to show what he can really do, I have respect for Williams giving him two years and not cutting him early this year. I cant wait to see what he can get up to in the future, looks like INDYCAR will be best for him, maybe he can get a good reserve driver role somewhere and maybe even get close to Andretti for a possible F1 entry.
Williams have accepted that this year and possibly next year are right offs. Vowles has told the team this is a great opportunity for them. Because they can try anything they want to see how it works because they are not chasing a championship. They can do crazy things, take risks to find new and better performance. Right now they are more of a skunkworks. Vowles level of thinking and ability to think longer term and how to maximise results from even bad situations is exceptional and incredibly mature. The guy is seriously brilliant.
Williams got him because they're the only one's that would accept his exit clauses, Carlos does'nt trust any of them but Williams made it the easiest to leave
Williams got him because they are on track to be a front running team soon. They have laid out a clear plan to get there and are well down the track. 2026 they will be front runners. Before the end of this decade they will own at least one Constructors Championship.
At least Sargeant got to be replaced by a great driver and not someone washed up or a project. Being dropped for someone like Mick would've been brutal.
I don’t think so.. I personally think it’s going to fail the first couple years.. maybe not fight for wins until 2028 or later.. Williams however should be able to in the next yr or two
I'm always being told, when it comes to Logan, that the stats say he must go and well that's what's happened. If that's true then judging from the stats, Carlos should be the primary driver for Williams. I honestly can't see him yielding to Alex. Five podiums, one being a win and 162 points. The choice is clear. It was nice to hear kind words about Logan. His time at Williams was tough to watch.
Keep in mind that James Vowles got a tremendous education from Ross Brawn when he was at Brawn GP. They were able to extract a lot of performance from that team with a tiny piggybank.
Carlos is one of my favourite drivers and I’m happy he will be a #1 driver at a team. I don’t quite know got Alex will handle being effectively relegated to #2. Williams is an up-and-coming team with a good Principal and owners who want them to be winners (or at least sustainably mid-table). I’m very happy to see Sainz there!
This is what happens every so many years. A full grid with only one or two "retirees", but generally few to no seats available for F2 top racers to take over. Then there's a couple of years when the teams can't find enough experience and/or real talent to fill their seats and so take on the best pay drivers they can for a couple of years, hoping someone better will turn up. It's ever been the same, particularly when the limits of team entries were reduced to avoid pre-qualification etc. 🤷🏻♀️

One company has already sorted out management, hired loads of great technical staff and has the financial backing. Audi fired and hired new management and alpine…yeah…. I would go to Williams too.
I think the only reason Carlos went to Williams is his exit clause there. Audi didn't want him to leave so they didn't gove him the option to leave of they suck and alpine... well alpine is blue ferrari... but without the success and prestige... Carlos still thinks he deserves a top seat so he takes 25 on the chin, watches who is best in 26 and the moment it's not williams he will be gone. Williams was just smart enough to admit that they will not be competitive enough to fight for a championship in the next years so I guess they accepted being a stepping stone for Carlos. He stays relevant, they get a solid driver maybe a few more sponsors, it's a win-win
Maybe he feels like nothing will truly change until 2026, and will bide his time at Williams until everything kicks off! Carlos is a smart man, he probably has an idea of how things will develop these coming years. I hope that his knowledge and experience can help Williams, so we can see an exciting championship next year!
I feel team leader or not isnt a big deal, it wasnt THAT bad at Ferrari and thats a team in the front meanwhile Williams is in the midfield which is a much more relaxed enviroment I guess it will end up being similar to his time at mcclaren
honestly, why didn't audi just pick mick up like to be honest, the thing is that audi must need to lay down a solid foundation first (which could be one of the reasons why they lost carlos) even they admit that it will take them a couple more years after they enter to be competitive. which means that's audi must be realistic and need to find somebody who's willing to stay at audi to help lay and build their foundation, which is where I think mick comes into play. as we see mick in wec, he is a pretty fast driver, and with the stint he had at haas, it means mick does have knowledge about how to build a team that for sauber that is what they need right now. beside they also have nico, who has proven himself that given the right car he could finish in the points while mick would focus on help build the team and extract everything out of the car. I see mick as a good canadate for that audi sit
@samiraperi467 here's the thing mick when he was in f1 did not have the environment that could allow him to relax .I will argue if you put mick in the williams or alphatauri he would have perform better than he did at haas .yes I understand that mick crash a lot .but I think under the right management in the team mick could try to improve and understand where the cars limit better
I am just glad that Mick is actually getting recognition now in WEC, where he is outperforming other former F1 drivers that people praised, especially in worse machinery lmao Mick is a driven person.
Won’t matter if the car is terrible. Wonder who will get preferential treatment when they have upgrades for only 1 car. Williams is the problem, it’s not a driver issue.
Times change. Marko wanted Carlos but Horner canned it. Horner has been doing the opposite of what Marko thinks for some time now. It seems that's how he makes his decisions. Ina small minded way.
13:01 Exactly! This is what I thought too, it will cause a SERIOUS disservice for the brands, both Renault and Alpine. Aston Martin can get away with it, because most of their road cars are powered by Mercedes units since a couple of years now, but for Renault this will obviously hurt a LOT!!!
Wouldn't be ironic if a British engineer now on vacation doing "what was never able to do before" would be tempted by nostalgia and sweet talks to pair with an "old friend? That would be sweet. For Alpine rumors are saying Hitech in contention to buy it.
I think that the Williams team has been one of the ultimate tests of driver skills, especially getting more out of the car than the car should be capable of. Sainz has a opportunity to show how great he is at performance extraction now. In my eyes: only Audi would have given him a better chance to do so. There is no reason to see this as a bad move. It could only be bad if his performance differs negatively from the way he was performing the last 5 seasons. And even then I think people will blame Williams for poor performance before they will blame Sainz
14:25 - Isn’t Alpine an EU company? And regardless, Ocon is an EU citizen, and a French citizen, both have laws on the books preventing employers from tracking employees like this.
Mercedes is pulling an all or nothing here. I mean, how good can antonelli be to warrant an immediate mercedes seat ? His F2 performance is great, but i dont see how one or two season more of experience in lower team/ f2 isnt a better option. Is it possible they believe if antonelli wouldnt work, they can treat williams like a second team even though williams has come out to say they wont do that again ? Overlooking carlos will be something they came to regret, a lot or less, because not giving championship contending car (crazy how that change in half a season, huh) the best driver it could have when your opponent blinks is surely a mistake.
I'm just wondering now if Alpine do go for the Merc Engines, that Toto does a deal with them that they can get a discount if they Put Mick in the other seat.
I've made the "Carlos Painz" gag a few times, but it really does make the best sense. His other options are, to be perfectly frank, an absolute shower of shite
“The driver market will crystallize” Yes! Now that an f1 RUclipsr has said this we’re gonna get another Lewis to Ferrari grade bombshell (max retires? Andretti gets a 25 entry!)
I think Audi could use that money to get Newey instead and have him also design a car for Audi they are already showing their wind tunnel lately for some odd timing.
Are they really? Next year is still mostly Sauber, and I wouldn't expect anything from them. 2026 with the new regs I'd say they're still on back foot. Now, 2027 onwards, that's anyone's guess.
I hope Mick gets the Alpine seat. He matured a lot in WEC and outpaces his teammates by almost half a second. His junior category pedigree is also better than Doohan's. It would be a no brainer but recent rumors seem to be in Doohan's favor.
Genuinely though, what’s stopping Sauber/Audi from getting a young driver on loan or even trying to poach one with the promise of an immediate seat? Someone like Drugovich?
He picked the slowest Merc on the grid. I would have picked Alpine because I think they will sell to Andretti soon and that would be a fun team to be a part of.
I'm not worried to much for the Williams Academy. At least they got 1 or 2 more year to proof their worth and development for F1. Hope more for Colapinto than O'Sullivan
Have to disagree with you there laws about the williams Academy, it allows Franco and Zak to get another season in f2 to challenge for the title. We don't want rookies being rushed into seats, let them develop their race craft and get some run time in the older machines
I may be a little bit bias but i think Mick should get that seat at Alpine, he showed is Haas that he actually can be good and fast. And if he's grown like Toto and Mercedes say, i dont see why Mick shouldnt get another shot at F1
When I started watching F1 my favourite team was Jordan but after them it was Benetton/Renault. I usually was a fan of their drivers, Fisichella, Trulli, Alonso. When they won in 05 and 06 (and by which point Jordan was gone and Renault was my favourite team) I was a very happy fan. They continued to be my favourite team until Vettel went to Ferrari and I became one of the tifosi. They lost my fandom almost completely when they dropped the gorgeous yellow Renaults for the grids 10130101480th blue car. It is seriously sad what has happened to that team. The state of them is absolutely shocking and they dont have the money excuses that Williams have had since they fell off. I'm at the sad point where I really wish they'd sell just to see the last of all this toxicity.
I like your formal content alot more than the new livestream content. Oh wait i don't have to watch it, nevermind. Also when you become a famous youtuber and land a tv role or something, please remember us commenters/fans from the start :)
I didnt watch the video yet, but I want to share my hot take. I think Alpine should roll the dice and sign Theo Pourchaire for their vacant F1 seat and keep Jack, their academy driver as a reserve. The reason? I think Theo has show that he has more upside than Jack in F2 and in their overall junior carrers. Hes also still really young. I think Theo could develop into a number 1 driver for a championship contender if given the chance while Jack, I think his sealing is number 2 driver for a championship contender. Now, I dont know the data Alpine has on Jack, maybe that data shows he can be a number 1, but from the perspective of another person who likes to yap, Theo is a better prospect than Jack.
So does this mean that Alpine's only option is Doohan? Because I doubt they'll go after Zhou or Bottas, Ricciardo is off the table, Checo will either retire or stay ar RB, and if Lawson is available I think Audi is the better choice for him
Carlos Sainz is probably the first experienced driver to take a look at the current Williams car. Just his feedback alone is going to get more pace out of the car.
Carlos lost the plot, worst option possible, just listen to albon radio. Williams will be parked in back as long as JV is in charge. There is more hope in Alpine under Oakes, Audi under Maria or Haas under Komatsu.
If Carlos consistently outperforms Albon and he gets maximum out of a Williams Car in ways other drivers would not, Carlos will only come out stronger and more desirable in thr driver market.

Alpine , the blue Ferrari, priceless!
Sainz in for Sargeant might be one of the biggest driver upgrades ever.
Do you watch Rocket Powered Mohawk?
Maybe he feels like nothing will truly change until 2026, and will bide his time at Williams until everything kicks off!
Carlos is a smart man, he probably has an idea of how things will develop these coming years.
I hope that his knowledge and experience can help Williams, so we can see an exciting championship next year!
I'm just really hoping lawson gets a seat next season.
I feel team leader or not isnt a big deal, it wasnt THAT bad at Ferrari and thats a team in the front meanwhile Williams is in the midfield which is a much more relaxed enviroment
I guess it will end up being similar to his time at mcclaren
honestly, why didn't audi just pick mick up
like to be honest, the thing is that audi must need to lay down a solid foundation first (which could be one of the reasons why they lost carlos) even they admit that it will take them a couple more years after they enter to be competitive. which means that's audi must be realistic and need to find somebody who's willing to stay at audi to help lay and build their foundation, which is where I think mick comes into play. as we see mick in wec, he is a pretty fast driver, and with the stint he had at haas, it means mick does have knowledge about how to build a team that for sauber that is what they need right now. beside they also have nico, who has proven himself that given the right car he could finish in the points while mick would focus on help build the team and extract everything out of the car. I see mick as a good canadate for that audi sit
Mick hasn't exactly proven to be a good F1 driver.
@@JustSomeDinosaurPerson At the same time he is getting absolutely cooked by pure GT drivers who race the same type of cars.
@LawVS it would be really cool if you had the bandwidth to start doing Indycar videos!
Won’t matter if the car is terrible.
Wonder who will get preferential treatment when they have upgrades for only 1 car.
Williams is the problem, it’s not a driver issue.
Ready to see where checo lands in this
"Maybe we've been a little too hard on Esteban."
Um, no. Ten second penalty to Ocon for thinking he has a chance.
Ocon is great. For me Gasly was the problem compounded by a poor Team Principal in Famin.
Helmut Marko labelled the partnership of Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz at Toro Rosso as “toxic”. No question why they wouldn't want him
Times change. Marko wanted Carlos but Horner canned it. Horner has been doing the opposite of what Marko thinks for some time now. It seems that's how he makes his decisions. Ina small minded way.

Exactly!
“The driver market will crystallize”
Yes!
Maybe Albon's damage numbers aren't higher than Perez's because of how heavy the Williams cars are, they can withstand more damage?
Audi is being underestimated by everyone. I bet he ends up regretting this.
Checo's Monaco $2.1M crash was mainly KMag's fault as well.
Red Bull still had to fork out for it.
Ferrari and Williams are my 2 favorite teams so this is a dream driver transfer for me lol!
Audi and Alpine bringing in talkers like Binotto and Briatore respectively definitely deterred Carlos
Alpine with the Ocon LoJack...what a bunch of creepers! 😆
Imo Mick Schumacher should go to Sauber/Audi and Jack Doohan gets the Alpine seat
He picked the slowest Merc on the grid. I would have picked Alpine because I think they will sell to Andretti soon and that would be a fun team to be a part of.
14:17 *sigh* Famin Blast
I'm not worried to much for the Williams Academy. At least they got 1 or 2 more year to proof their worth and development for F1. Hope more for Colapinto than O'Sullivan
What are the odds that Albon would move up to Merc’s empty seat and make way for Colapinto to give it a go? 🤔
If Bortoleto manages to become F2 champion this year, Alpine should seriously consider "stealing" him from McLaren.
It would be Absolute Cinema.
I get the joke but I don't know if Romain has any bad feelings on Ericcison, that was his engineer
An "I hate Marcus Erickson Club" lol
Have to disagree with you there laws about the williams Academy, it allows Franco and Zak to get another season in f2 to challenge for the title. We don't want rookies being rushed into seats, let them develop their race craft and get some run time in the older machines
Oh I am not questioning Franco and Zak at all! Franco especially is doing really well. I just hope that there is a chance for them in F1.
Sauber needs to get Checo back and also the good old dependable pairing of Hulk and him.
Remember? What crazy popular racing series went sideways when Mercedes became the majority of the field🤔. Worrisome signs
William 0:04
Why would Theo give up on Sauber/Audi?
@@tombassett because they wouldnt give him a seat at their F1 team and he wants to be in F1
Paul Aron to Alpine Maybe
It certainly has become an option rather than a hope.
@@LawVS He definitely deserves it
So does this mean that Alpine's only option is Doohan? Because I doubt they'll go after Zhou or Bottas, Ricciardo is off the table, Checo will either retire or stay ar RB, and if Lawson is available I think Audi is the better choice for him
Doohan or Mick
Mick Schumacher is there as well. He has more experience does well in wec and is a f2 and f3 champ
Appendix-Free GP!!
How many drivers can brag to have driven cars powered by the four different engines on the grid?
Any chance Lawson goes to audi?
Audi and Renault is like choosing between instability (Audi) and chaos (Alpine)....he choose the escape route....
at this point alpine needs to sell and andretti needs to buy
If Carlos consistently outperforms Albon and he gets maximum out of a Williams Car in ways other drivers would not, Carlos will only come out stronger and more desirable in thr driver market.
Alex Albon seems only best at crashing cars. Carlos needs a real partner. Or at least one close to the same talent.
