9:15 I can’t really remember a slow motion shot that I felt “unnecessary” and I am very picky about that kind of things. I think each shot made the work of enjoying a moment.

Thanks for your review. How was the tone of the movie? Did it take itself seriously? Or was it MCU-ish?

    • @4NerdsNetwork

It was kind of a mixture of the two. It was mostly serious but did try to add some light humor. It wasn’t terrible though

It take it self very seriously… yet there is a lot of fun. Most humor comes from lack Adam being so serious. Like, basically there are no jokes, it’s just funny to watch how things happen and how the characters interact.

10:30 I think this movie is mostly fun and action but we have to acknowledge there are plenty of serious topics in the plot to have fun debating about, even if the movie didn’t explored those topics extensively.

10:10 that rank is actually pretty good… all those are great movies of the genre. This movie lacks the epic scale of Aquaman but in some angles it’s a better film IMO. I’m eager for an Black Adam 2 and a JS movie.

By the way thoughts on James Gun on being co show runner TV and Movies on DC properties? I think its very interesting hire. I think DC got desperate all candidates they probably wanted said no thank you. So they went with somebody that know and trust. I can't fault them for that. But it's got be disappointing if all the candidates that they wanted say no and they run back to James Gunn. That tells me that James Gunn was not a candidate to begin with. So basically they had to settle on what was available to them. I am guessing that James Gunn was their backup plan if nobody the job.

"By the way thoughts on James Gun on being co show runner TV and Movies on DC properties?"
It means that superhero movies are dead. James Gunn was a Geoff Johns hire. His Suicide Squad garbage was exactly the movie that David Ayers didn't want to make. James Gunn like almost all MCU directors and writers go against the original tone of the comic books and turn everything into a silly parody of itself. The original Guardians of the Galaxy comic books actually took themselves much more seriously. Star Lord was not a bumbling clutz. I cannot believe they gave Gunn the keys to what was supposed to be an alternative to the MCU nonsense. The genre is dead.

6:00 I don’t think every movie has to explain everything every time… I mean there are many times that the presence of the FBI or the DEA or CIA is really important in a movie and we don’t get a Wikipedia bio of those organizations and we have to Google later or maybe people already know them… even if it’s just because other movies 😅
I hope we get a Justice Society movie and we get more info only reason because is fun to know backstory… in this movie the main focus was Black Adam so we don’t get to know much about the JS.

But see, the directors clearly intended for us to care about these JSA characters but didn’t really even bother exploring them and helping us get to know them so that we actually do care. And again, as a Snyder fan, I appreciate a good slowmo shot, but this movie had way too many of them haha. Watch it again. You’ll see what I’m talking about in regards to that. And this movie did approach interesting subject matter, but as you stated, they didn’t explore them enough to make them impactful or worth even bringing up. It’s an OK movie, but fails in several ways to take that next step to being a great movie

@@4NerdsNetwork in second watch I was even more into the slow motion shots though. Each one was worth it. I would compare them to the use slow motion has in 300, the power of the protagonist through appreciation of the mighty movements. Or in the crucial dramatic moments when stakes are at the highest.
I think JS got just good enough attention, I surely would have loved to see more but it was good enough, certainly we hear that people liked Hawkman and Dr Fate, and I think Atom smasher and Cyclon are just background characters and that’s ok for now (wishing for a JS movie and I never was a JSA fan before).
I think the story wants us in part to acknowledge JS is an external force (policemen, CIA) and maybe not the main heroes of the story but Teth Adam. They are even linked to Amanda Waller who hasn’t being the hero before.

@@4NerdsNetwork I do think the lack of background info in a superhero team in a movie must be a first in a movie (there is always an explanation or origins tale), but I still think it can work fine (for now). Though I would have loved 10 minutes of exposition for JS, but that’s the nerd me… I really wonder the JS existing means for events like the Black Zero event or Steppenwolf invasion. We wonder why Martian Manhunter didn’t go into the fight and now also I wonder why JS wasn’t present there… maybe the reason of lack of JS info was because it would be too much for this movie.

I don’t personally think this is an “instant classic” if anything for me, it’s just the flavor of the month. I don’t hate the movie, but I don’t really have a burning desire to see it again

@@4NerdsNetwork yeah I’m in the complete opposite then. I watched it twice and liked even more in the second occasion. As some other guy said “if I was 10 years old I would watch it many times in theaters”… it turns out I liked it in that way even as an old guy.

Good movie not great. The overly used exposition felt like lazy writing, shocking to see three people wrote this

Absolutely. A lot of the writing in general for this movie felt lazy and uninspired

    • @manart6506
      @manart6506 Год назад

Actually I always find that the more writers a single script has the more issues can come in a movie, maybe various people on the overall story but it seems to work better when one sole writer pens the screenplay… though I liked the movie at the lines of dialogue level. Simple story buy every line wasn’t a throw away unless it meant it (a few jokes).

  • @duanejackson4430

I thought movie was good enough for what it needed to be. But the problem for me was half way during the movie the story tends to collapse on itself. Especially when he wasn't intended to take up the mantle to begin with. A little misdirection in the story with his son. It became a story within a story. The writing was lazy. But you know I wasn't a fan of the end credit scene. I am in the minority. Superman should have used for Shazam 2 to make up for the mistake in the Shazam for using a headless stand in Superman. And have the wizard appeared in the end credit for Black Adam explaining to Black Adam I have a new champion. That's how Black Adam should have ended.

@@4NerdsNetwork ok but that’s not fair. If you really hear it I think you would have appreciated it. I was really into the story and characters and loved all Teth Adams lines and for sure there are a few diamonds in there.
