- I love movement in my photos. Using long exposure is a means to capture more than a fraction of a second into a frame. That freezes movement and crates exciting photos.
For that, I used slow films:
-NoColorStudio #5, rated ISO 5; www.nocolorstu...
-Kentmere 100 pulled to ISO 25; www.ilfordphot...
Off subject but I would like to see/hear about your approach to contact printing large format negatives. Of interest to me are; the printing paper(s) you use with particular attention to fixing, washing and drying prints. Thank you for the interesting content!
Ok. I'll keep this in mind!
Your "Rodinal Phase" made me laugh. But seems to be working looking at your innovative imagery.
😅 it’s in the water - it in Rodinal?
The later images in particular are really beautiful
Thank you, thank you
Those overexposed photos have kind of a pinhole look with the slight fuzziness. Interesting. My favorite films are ortho or blue sensitive, with a strong nod towards IR as well. Your use of long exposures also gives a view of the world that we don't see with the naked eye. There's a lot to think about. :)
Yeah you are right. Some pinholiness in them.
Upeita kuvia, taas kerran.
I'm thinking of your adventure with 127 backing paper and 35 mm film. Would the backing paper provide the same effect as the antilation (?) layer ? Sorry I'm late to this. Great video as always.
No it doesn't. The backing paper prevents light from behind. The anti-halation layer from within the film. Thanks for watching :-)
Again very interesting & good photographs! I use the Arsat 30mm F3.5 Fisheye lens on my Pentax 645 with an adapter from the Ukraine & really like the results.
Yeah it’s a great lens. To my understanding Arsat is just a newly manufactured version of Zodiak.
Great video, as Allways. I have the same setup camera-lens and I use a lot Svema film, 64 iso. I can send you some film if you want. BTW, great music!
Thanks thanks. I’d be very curious to try it. Never shot Svema.
Very nice video. Makes me want to go for a stroll with my ND filters. :)
Regarding the blurriness of the overexposed pictures, I wonder whether this is due to the high blue/UV sensitivity of the film. Just as the plane of focus of a lens shifts for the long wavelengths of infrared light, I guess the same is true for the shorter wavelengths of UV light, unless the lens was specifically designed with extended bandwidth in mind.
Thanks thanks. Interesting this wavelength theory of yours. Could be ....
diffraction oft light with a very small aperture and long exposure. Could it be the reason for the pics "out of focus??"
Hmm -- undoubtedly possible, but with F22, I don't think so. I get more focused pictures with minutes exposure with my pinhole camera F160 :-) instagram.com/p/C5vziaRgJ7x/
Love your wooden tripod. I have one just like it and it has served me well for the last 15 years. Had to order it from Germany since it wasn’t available in the U.S. Great video as always.
Yeah, it seems this is now it its forever home :-)
How did you develop to ISO 25? I don't see any data for that on the Massive Dev Chart...
Rodinal 1/50, 6 min 20 degrees Celsius
Ari as usual great video and awesome pictures I thought.. 👍
Thanks!!!
Can it be your filter?
Do you mean the blurry images? There was no filter ....
Pure class. And I appreciate the music, too.
Thank you, thank you.
Nice work. I love the way you were able to create movement in the horizon that complimented the boat’s wake.
Thanks thanks
Great pics. Really a wonderful look.
Thank you! Cheers!
kase makes a 10x10 cm ND. Thats's not big enough?
Nope 11cm. Also, the glass extends quite far from the edges ...
@@ShootOnFilm must be something. an nd used for Imax in a matte box. 100 x more expensive as the whole set. or Lee Filter roll nd. I have the same setup and will try that at work next week
@@noudsmeets Awesome. I'd be very interested in putting a filter on this. Also, btw, the filter at the rear end of the lens is absolutely stupid. Say, you had an ND 1000 that you cannot see through. In a typical case, I would first compose my picture on a tripod and then put the filter on. Here, you'd need to remove the lens to add the filter after initial composition. :-)
@@ShootOnFilmmaybe its possibel to have another glass inside the filter
It's great to watch you having so much fun, maybe it's the "Rodinal phase" you're in. Maybe I should try Rodinal? I in my XTOL phase these days, but it doesn't seem to be as much fun as Rodinal, or maybe I just need to stop watching the news for a while.
Is is an awesome idea to reduce your news intake.
Wow I never knew there are 5 iso film stocks! I loved the outcome, but really loved the long exposure of the bow of your boat sharp and the bridge blurred. Thanks for a great video and now I am wondering how I can make a similar picture, but without a boat haha
Glad you enjoyed it!
Another fine set of images out on the water … thanks! The shapes and texture of the wake surrounded by a smooth sea surface are magical. You’re definitely pushing the boundaries of nautical photography … especially the picture looking forward with the throttle wide open … and nobody at the helm! 📷🚤🙂 PS: Perfect piano accompaniment as always!
Many thanks!
As always, a joy watching your clips, and hearing your piano playing.
Thanks thanks :-)
I really like the photo at end. Curves and balaced composition.
Thanks thanks.
I really like the Kentmere 100 shots at the end on the corner
Thanks thanks. It is a nice and versatile film.
Wonderful Tonight
Thanks for coming
