This is a quick guide to changing the battery in a Texecom Veritas alarm panel. There a number of factors to understand when changing a Veritas alarm battery, including making sure you have the correct replacement alarm battery and making sure you don't disturb any wires / create further faults when changing the alarm battery - as the insides of alarm panels can be a spaghetti mess of wires.

To do this without the alarm going off: Enter the Engineer code (Default = 1234) then press PROG, 0, 5, 6. When you press prog after engineer code all zone lights will light up to let you know youre in programming mode. Then after 056 Zone 2 will blink to show the strobe on the bell box is strobing 3 times and then zone 6 will be solid, indicating the bell box is in its engineer hold-off mode. You can now open the control box without the alarm sounding at all to replace the battery. Just press reset twice to go back to unset/normal operation. Boom. Took me bloody ages to learn this 😂 Enjoy.
Good straight talking video, never mind about the details that people are requesting. That's like asking a mechanic how to fix your car. Well done !
If I take the battery out and don’t replace will my alarm system turn off? Including the outside siren and any beeping coming from inside? Would really appreciate a response alarms are so stressful
@@Tieupp no , but in a power cut it would be useless , when the power comes back on it will make a continuous beeping that you can stop with your user code
Thankyou!
Hi, I have the Veritas R8 and just a standard keypad. I currently have the tamper alarm going off randomly set or unset. Do you know how I can workout which sensor/bell/main box device is setting this off.
The job of replacing the battery could be made more simpler, all you would need to do is to put the alarm in engineer mode and then You would be able to open the control panel to replace the battery without the alarm going off
Depends if you know your engineer code.
If your alarm is on a service contract then you shouldn't be replacing the battery yourself because this will void your warranty and terminate your contract.
Will this procedure be the same for the veritas excel keypad? Thanks
Is there a way of changing the default code?
i must have missed you checking the charge voltage and testing the replacement battery and marking the results on it with the date .
i assume the aux and ho were both ok .
was this not filmed or did you not upload it . ? do you have a battery tester and dvm.

It's a video on how to change a battery for the average householder not a booster rocket on Apollo 13

Great video and info 👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Hello , how do I know if it needs a new battery? Will it make a noise or chime ? Thank you
turn your electricity off to the alarm , then if the alarm goes off you need a new battery
It will chime every 1 minute when the battery is low, you reset it the normal way (Code + RESET) to knock it off, it'll do it again after 30 mins, reset again then press the chime (Musical note button) button twice and it'll disable it for a long while (like 12-24h) gotta keep doing that til the battery is replaced.
How would you remove the cables from the battery terminals if they appear stuck?
Try moving them slightly left-right as you pull
What is the name and model of that battery
This one should be 12v 3.4ah , this panel can take up to 12v 7ah if the wiring in neat inside
How do yo stop a buzzing sound coming from the box after the batter has been changed
Enter your code and click reset ?
Remove cover and let the bee out maybe

It’s called Tinnitus, see a ENT doctor.
This DID NOT help me!!!!! My electricity went and my alarm wont stop foing off. I have removed the battery but the outside alarm wont shut up!!
Two posters, two questions and yet no response four months on?! The manual states to reconnect the positive (red) terminal first, whereas you connected the negative (black) terminal first in this ‘tutorial’. Come on guys. It’s always positive connection first on reconnect!
You're right connecting red first is usuall practise on automotive to avoid sparks, on alarm though if it's already connected to mains you wont have any sparks as there is already voltage in those cables before connecting new battery
my box is making a loud buzzing sound whats wrong with it ? I can feel a vibrating sound in the ceiling whats wrong with it?
Its just the alarm I think, enter your code and reset
Usually it's the transformer inside the panel, has 4 screws try tighten them up
@@stangf make sure you disconnect the power before touching the transformer!!! I think it's too late now but...
