I don’t think it’s irrational to prioritize my own quality of life over the production of wage slaves. Not wanting to rip my genitals isn’t irrational, and wouldn’t be seen as irrational if it was men rather than women that had to carry and give birth.
Well tokophobia is only a problem if it bothers you. If you don’t want to have a child and it doesn’t bother you, you’re ok. Although some women with tokophobia (like me) thought I would never want a baby anyway so it didn’t bother me at the time (consciously) but I’ve changed my mind.
We don’t need an intervention unless we personally wish to give birth and somehow Tokophobia is preventing that. most of us with Tokophobia will never wish to give birth, so we don’t need interventions. We are perfectly happy being child free.
as in, there is no conflict in my life for me having severe Tokophobia. I am terrified of getting pregnant, so I won’t ever willingly choose to get pregnant. Problem solved. No interventions required. this phobia causes absolutely zero distress or lack of functioning in my day to day life, there is no need to cure my phobia when i am perfectly happy with never having children. the most important part of a psychological disease is the distress it causes in the patients day to day life and if it hinders their functioning in work, academics, or/and relationships. Having a mortal disgust and aversion to my own body becoming pregnant does not affect any part of my life and doesn’t need to be fixed.
