Wow, that sunset was just awesome. Props to you both for making it up there, and especially Mike for being a big guy. Those porters who carry stuff up are another level though. Man, they must be as hard as nails. Amazing video mate. Thanks.
So fun, I studied in Bangkok in 2017. I took the cheapest night bus to Loei (I still was a bit hungover too), and then climbed Phu Kradueng together with a Thai girl and some other Thai people in the morning. I had no clue I had to walk for hours, it was definitely a challenge (even though I'm fit). Slept a few days on top of the mountain, and explored the area. ALOT of walking, and waking up early, but such a good memory, just being around Thai people and lovely nature. A true local experience for me. Also made some amazing photo at the plateau at sunrise!
Amazing, just amazing. My hat off for the people who carry stuff up-down that place, hard working people. Happy travels and stay safe. God bless you guys👍🏿.
Great video thats a good hike I have to admit I would have been disappointed to get to the top and find out there was no beer available a couple of ice cold bottles of Leo's would have gone down well with that view 👍😎😃
It was tempting to carry some beer up with us lol. Or even better pay a porter to carry it up lol. I've done that hike 3 times now and it's tough but rewarding
That's pretty amazing karl the hiking that you do also the camera angles where you set your camera down to show you walking ahead then you have to walk back and then back again to get to where you stopped, you're racking up a lot more frequent flyer mileage.
i remember going up the trails when i was 275 and it sucked so bad now I'm 214 far fitter and loving life tell mike to keep it up nutrition is 75% health i had tons of gym memberships.
Great hike karl , your mate thoroughly enjoyed the experience, porters are amazing,.its like you guys have hiked up to an escarpment, being flat again? Thais are very clean people, all camping gear clean as 😊 👍. Cheers karl from frank😊👏👌🙏
Glad you enjoyed it Frank. Yes, we hike up to the Phu Kradueng Plateau and in the next video we explore the plateau itself. It's a tough hike that one but rewarding
Awesome video. I climed it 5 yrs ago during new year eve( dec suppose to be dry and cold)and it rained in the night !!! Spent 3 nights doing stealth camping by the waterfalls as campsite was way too bright & noisy.
Thanks for this video Karl. This brings back some great memories from almost twenty years ago when we did the climb. It is good to see that it hasn't changed much and I feel the need to do it again soon.
Brilliant, Karl. I stayed in tent 101 when I was there; you stayed right next door. The walk to the campsite is a bit of a killer, especially just having conquered the mountain.
Yes, I have no idea why they made the campsite so far away but it forces you to get about while you are there. Great coincidence about the tents we got
What a great place to live Brandon. Pha Nok Khao is spectacular and looks so different from the other side. The monks turning up when they did for the Morning Alms was a real treat
Another very impressive journey and exceptionally well documented as usual. Miraculous feat of engineering on those many sets of stairs on the way. Where I'm from in Northern New Jersey, we joke that there are so many rocks you can't push a knife into the soil. Different geological history but the same effect... digging those anchor points in for the stairs and rails must have been epic. I'm not sure how I feel about all those snack bars on the way up. For one I would want to support all the vendors but yeah the hike is a mission and not a lot of time to stop. Funny those people all walk to work every day probably. Karl, your journeys make me think of the movie "Point Break" and the "Ozaki 8"... yeah it was fiction but an echo warrior created a set of 8 challenges in nature. Maybe someday you will have disciples in Thailand following the path to complete "Karl's 8". lol Thanks for the tip on "Decathlon". Maybe they might sponsor some of your adventures.
Karl’s 8 lol. I like that. Yes the work that goes into it is impressive and you’re not the first person to suggest seeking a sponsorship. I will probably try at some point soon
@@karlsthailand I havent been there yet, despite living in P'lok in 2004. My bad. I am living in Phang Nga these days and will try to go up there when I have a chance. Again, your videos are an inspiration and a reminder how beautiful this country is.
Great video Karl. I'm glad Mike enjoyed it, he seems like a laid back guy...Up to 40 kilos? They are strong guys, with great balance as well. See you soon.
That’s a shame, I must admit that I don’t seem to suffer much for it. I’m pretty sure the sunrise at the beginning of this video wouldn’t have looked so nice if it wasn’t there. You do get some spectacular sunsets in the burning season here which is probably the only good thing about it
I am considering applying a bit of audio compression on my videos. I like a full dynamic range myself but I guess with so many watching on mobile phones it might be a good move to bolster the sound a bit
Looks really tough and arduous until you see the young thai girl in her mini skirt and flip flops merrily skipping down with her boyfriend without a trace of stress or strain…..nevertheless, good vid

It's a very unique place. The local Thais almost see it as a right of passage. Unique micro-climate up there and lovely like you say. Cheers

Talk about a well-planned hike. But it's probably hard as it is. Good job boys 💪🏻👍
No matter how well laid out it is Anders there’s no escaping the actual ascent lol
Amazing, great video thanks Karl
Thanks again Paul
Great video mate 👍

Thanks again Karl I’m loving the new videos. I’m back in October to Chiang rai, Mai and Koh Chang, the December to Samui, koh Phangan and Krabi.
Cheers Marcus, sounds like quite a trip you have planned there
I have to admit that your videos are huge inspiration what to visit here in Thailand! Greetings from Chiang Mai! ^^

Another very interesting video, Karl. Beautiful sunset view. Thank you. 🙏

Where are you fighting? Cheers

Entertaining video with stunning views. A tough walk but well worth it. Your mate did well for a big lad lol
Cheers Owen, I’d wanted to vlog Phu Kradueng since I started the channel. I did once but somehow lost the footage doing an iPhone upgrade lol

epic climb guy"s , Thai music great trance tunes to get to the top.. chheers..🙏
Thanks very much and glad you enjoyed the soundtrack
i’m guessing the music must be public domain or low cost alternative. i 100% recommend music by harold budd for your “deep” sounds.
Yes, it’s from the collection available for free to all RUclips creators from the RUclips Studio
Brilliant stuff, I’m off to Chiang Khan tonight!
I first went to Chiang Khan in 1991. It’s a beautiful place with a great atmosphere. Have fun!

Another fantastic hike, well done😊
How many hours was the entire hike?
It took about 5 hours from the bottom to the campsite LT
Ok, that's not too bad
On to the next adventure!!
how long did it take you
I think it was about 5 hours. I’ve done in less than that before but families might take 7 hours or so. Plenty of rest spots anyway
Most of mountain ranges in Thailand are in national parks or reserved areas, no development for commercial purpose like ones in Vietnam or Malaysia.
That’s true Thana, Thailand has so many National Parks
Great vlog and spectacular sunset view at the top. By the way, unlike Barry, I can hear your commentary perfectly. No need to “sort out the audio “.
Thanks Malin, I am considering applying a bit of audio compression to future videos. It can help for people watching on mobile phones for example
Love what you do Karl but I wish you could sort the audio. Most of the time I can't hear fxxk all.
I am considering applying a bit of audio compression on my videos. I like a full dynamic range myself but I guess with so many watching on mobile phones it might be a good move to bolster the sound a bit
By the way, I had no difficulty hearing the audio.
Thanks for getting back to me Karl. Maybe it's only me but I honestly struggle to hear.
Keep up the good work.🙏
So sad to see Thailand become Butlins on a mountain top….is there a McDonald’s and a Starbucks there as well?….probably
It gets pretty crowded at weekends in the Cool Season Dave. The 'secret' is, like most Thai National parks to go mid-week
