5:00 you don't need to unsolder anything. You can unscrew the magnetic pick up (2 screws) then you can separate the two boards and access the belt area.

Thanks for the time you took to show this. I have one of the latest models, 2001 Sony, and it also had a circuit board and small Phillips head screw in one corner. A bit tight, but able to slip the belt back on track for now. Working, but may for future use avoid the rw and ff buttons.

Hey man thanks for sharing this. Before you mentioned it at the end I was already thinking about conditioning the rubber parts w/ any kind of Armor All type products, that will help extend the life of any rubber parts, not just car tires, but also; V-belts, serpentine belts, vacuum cleaner belts & the belts you show here. So go for it man, you can soak these little belts in a small container w/ any kind of Armor All type product & it will makes them last a LOT longer. (the "303 Aerospace" is supposed to be the best, & most $$ pricey) Thanks again, take care from TN.

on the "insccessible ones" you likely can depress the trans inside the cassette slot. that should unsnap it and allow you to open the backside. Did that with a sony i found at a yard sale but i did break one of the tabs ., didn't matter since the screws still hold it together. Made good use of my $2 find

So it's not an issue with the headphone jack, volume, or speakers.

I found another video where the guy is working on the circuit board and has tools to check if each little silver connection was working and he made the Walkman have sound again by fusing a pathway that had broken off. But this guy way to solve a complicated problem is "just throw it out it's not worth it!" What if I want to learn how to fix a complicated problem? The other video doesn't explain what tools he was using, I was hoping this guy would help us out. Nope.

I'm in the same boat as you. It baffles me that he wouldn't even try it when there is already a video of someone fixing the "complicated" Walkman posted two years before this guy made this one, so it is definitely possible to do without any desoldering.

Yeah I was really going with pointing someone in the right direction for simple repairs for this video. I did make some more detailed videos about the belt type sony Walkman. The models I didn’t repair were because to fold the top sandwich board back I would have to have de soldiered some very small ribbon cables. It’s possible of course, I just found no need after all of the other ones that I had repaired.

Where can I regulate the motor speed?

There is usually a tiny hidden hole on the back of the walkman or the side somewhere, it can even be under the belt clip. you slide a micro screwdriver inside it and turn it to change the speed.

I recently made another video addressing this question. Check out Walkman speed adjustment on my channel.

I have a wm-fx195. I haven't had to change the speed on my model and it's slightly different but there should be an internal knob. You can find the manual online and it will give you a breakdown/schematic. In fact, there's a RUclips video detailing the breakdown of the WM-fx193.

      thanks , i found it
but now the speed isn't stable
sometimes it goes fast and sometimes slow
is it because of the belt or the motor ?

Hmm... I don't know. Perhaps someone else here has the answer. I'm in the same boat with you, I'm trying to find out how to service my machine if it ever does break.

Akram Rahardi Rosyadi , There may be a miniature potentiometer for motor speed/pitch either on the board or close by the battery compartment.
