The system commenced service in 2015 after partially opening the first phase of the project. The current network consists of two colour-coded lines covering a length of 54 kilometres (34 mi). The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL), a joint venture between Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu built and operates the Chennai Metro. The system has a mix of underground and elevated stations and uses standard gauge. The services operate daily between 05:00 and 23:00 with a varying frequency of 2 to 8 minutes.

When i came to chennai for job i was amazed by the metro price 100rs kulla traffic ilama adhuvum AC la travel pannamudiyudhe nu. My native is pondy anga 100m thali iruka edathuku ponum nale they will charge more than 100 for auto. Local bus la era kooda mudiyadhu. Adhela paakimpodhu metro train price here in chennai is much much better.

Greenline la , travel Pani, airport layae poyi vitrum.. apdiyum option iruku.. so, we don't want to change green to blue line on our own. From airport, One train koyambedu valiya central pochuna, next train blue line vazhiya wimco nagar pogum..

There is an interchange track section in alandur where greenline metro trains can either go to st. thomas mt or airport. However, with the phase two red line, there is a plan to terminate the greenline in alandur (cut st. thomas station) and join track in level 4 (now greenline platform, with an additional platform in the east side as a third platform) to red line in phase 2 which will again run through st. thomas mt etc...

Why laying Metro line at the same spot as in Thiruvanmiyur (Beside Tidal Park) where already there is this "Parakkum Rail" mRTS is there.. Why not lay a Metro line (Or extend the line) from Thiruvanmiyur upto ECR.. Instead of connecting Shollinganallur on the OMR to Madhya Kailash..There is already a great Bottle Neck Traffic Jam on the ECR during Peak Hours compared to the OMR.. A Pillar Metro is suitable than an Underground for this route..
OMR has large number of companies than ECR. Many be that's the reason for this
