Jungwon touched it (the river), so he forgot his life before. He was probably protecting his own soul prior to committing the act, the sphere. They were loosing themselves, which makes me think about the Sacrifice obvs, the reason we're here Niki somehow protects Sunoo's purity/goodwill but I guess Jake is the one who has consumed the most (of the River Lethe) so he betrayed everyone multiple times or forced them/took advantage of, maybe? It's very complicated but that's just a general theory.
