When I did the sublimation like this on my black sublimation changing color mug, it worked when it changed colors perfectly. However, when it was straight black, I could kind of see the image is that normal?

Yes, we've found that most sublimation paper will work great on our mugs. TexPrint-R, TexPrint-XPHR, TruePix Classic, Jetcol DHS, and more will work great.
