To be fair, everything zoro did against kaido in the anime, he does in the Manga as well. People like to ignore it, but you do clearly see zoro deflect kaido attacks multiple times before then slashing him. Even see the little Klang, klang sound effects.
Also while promethus going under water is odd, we do know devil fruit powers work underwater, just the holder themselves are unable to move. So just like how nami was able to stretch luffy neck while he was drowning during the Arlong saga, big mom homies should still be able to move even though Big mom herself can't right? I mean she did make a homie out of water before also didn't she?

I never interpreted those sound bubbles as deflections but I can understand that after the fact. But to act like it was shown in the manga is just untrue. Oda could have shown atleast one panel of them clashing but it was never drawn.

My assumption is Prometheus is creating enough heat to evaporate the water around him to essentially create a gas/steam barrier so the water is never actually touching him

Being able to block a few blows doesn’t mean he could beat Kaido. He attacked him with everything he had at that moment and barely managed to slice him open. Now he could probably do more now that he has learned conquerors haki infusion but he still isn’t Yonko level.

@@1in10million No YOU do not understand. Ashura does not last long enough to take down a Yonko. All he could do was give him a nasty cut. He needs to be able to maintain that form indefinitely to take a Yonko therefore it is not Yonko level because it is a temporary last effort power up. Also, Zoro usually fights while heavily injured. He actually gets stronger the more injured he is it seems. You actually read/watch One Piece?

If you drop a bead of water on a super heated plate it will sorta float and slide around without evaporating completely

Df powers? No only zoans have been shown to be the same underwater. Howver logias aren’t shown to have the same effect. A paramecia like robin shouldn’t be able to use her powers in water either.
Aside from that Prometheus shouldn’t have gone in the water, because it’s not canon. Oda clearly didn’t let big mom hit the water for a reason. Prometheus bring fire based wouldn’t be able to survive it and have strentgh to do anything.
