I Have never been robbed on any beach or on the boardwalk in rio. Been copacabana, leblon, recreio, barra da tijuca, vidigal favela, rocinha favela, catete favela. Just beware and of your surroundings as you film and watch other people who look dodgy coming near you.

Sorry guys, but there are many places in the world that are similar but much better and safer.Nobody should be getting robbed at gunpoint or knife point EVER. There’s something wrong with the culture when people start accepting gunpoint robbery as ok and normal. It’s not worth it. Yes it’s more expensive to live in first world beach countries, but not that much more.if your looking for a brazil vibe go to Portugal or Spain. Way safer, cleaner, and not that much more expensive.
@@antons2975 I have been to Portugal and it is not comparable at all. Neither the climate, nor the culture nor the food and landscape variety of Brazil exists in Portugal. I love Portugal and their wine (season) but the people are waaay more reserved than the ones in Brazil. Hard to connect to people in Portugal. Ladies immediately assume that you are a weekend tourist and avoid getting to know you altogether. No such problems in Brazil. :) Also, while the food is awesome in Portugal, the variety and options are just on another level in Brazil.
Looking for a 3 weeks long vacation end of this year over New Year, the choice is pretty simple for me: Brazil due to the climate. Portugal doesn't get that hot during December :).
However, Portugal gets all the points for safety!! An important factor. No doubt.

@@antons2975 hahaha are you really comparing portugal to BRAZIL in terms of people. Rio de Janeiro is what is worse in Brazil. Most Brazilians avoid Rio. Brazil is like a continent with several different countries. I have never seen a robbery and you can sleep with all doors and windows open, and leave your keys in the car here where I live.

I’m going there solo for carnival, kind of nervous but I’m street smart lol. I’ll also be staying at a hostel for the weekend so when I go out partying I’ll be with a big group. First few days I’ll have my own place on the beach
