I didn't know anything about, or to be honest was particularly interested in, RAW photos. However, as a subscriber to your channel, I know that your videos are always excellent, unbiased and detailed so thought I would educate myself, without any expectations. Within moments of your video starting I was drawn in as it was so interesting and gives such a clear and concise explanation of RAW that I am so pleased I did watch it. Absolutely brilliant video, thanks!
Incredible video‼️ Watched on my iPhone which was great but later wanted to watch it again and did so on my TV, it was even clearer on the comparisons you demonstrate. Really impressive, useful review, so interesting and completely engaging review-appreciate the effort and skill involved.
Wow this was super informative thank you! If understanding you correctly, you can shoot in proraw, then edit the pic, and when you’re happy without doing more edits-you then saved it as a jpeg or other file type of choice. Does it maintain the image quality?
Thank you! Yes, you can do this. You obviously won't have all of that information saved in there (especially for future editing, you'll want to go back to the original .dng file). But you can definitely shoot in raw, capture that extra dynamic range and all the rest of it, make the edits and then save as a jpeg with the smaller file size!
I think the normal HEIC photos would be fine for instagram. The instagram tools will let you build on the Apple processing to give photos a lift. If you go down the ProRAW route, you'd need to spend a lot more time editing all of those processing adjustments yourself first, and then apply the instagram edits. Some people take instagram really seriously and would want to spend the time doing this i.e. for professional situations. But I think normal HEIC + instagram edits gives you more than enough!
I would say that it enhances the Pro Max's edge when it comes to night time photography. The larger sensor, combined with RAW, means that you can rescue the shadows with less noise. The Pro tends to raise the exposure to compensate for the lack of light, whereas the Pro Max is happier to capture the true darkness of the scene (so when you raise the shadows in post, you don't have the same level of noise). Otherwise though - pretty much everything else still stands from the review!

@@insidetechltd wow that’s awesome thanks so much!!
Great vid!
Thanks a lot!
Does it mean that if i shoot with my 13 Pro Max in ProRAW, the image wont get that horrendous sharpening???
You’ll certainly have much more control over it!
what's best to shoot with instagram editing tools? proraw or normal heic photos?

@@insidetechltd yes yes i am not talking about professional editing surely on this case Lightroom is the least you can use.
How does the ProRAW format affect your comparison of pro and pro max?
I would say that it enhances the Pro Max's edge when it comes to night time photography. The larger sensor, combined with RAW, means that you can rescue the shadows with less noise.
