Claire, not only is your channel a joy to watch, I'm still taken aback by how youthful you look. I'm sure it's the care you take but it's also your attitude and your smile! Thank you for all this priceless information

I use the same amount of sunscreen the doc does, except I add my neck and ankles/feet. I wear long sleeves and pants when I’m out. It’s easier for me to cover up.

Excellent discussion. Thank you, for sharing this information. I had not seen that old press release and am interested to know if the results of FDA mandated research changes which filters are still available in the US over the next decade. As an aside sportswear brands are making a larger variety of UPF rash guards and (even) swim leggings now.

Glad you enjoyed the discussion! I’m not aware of any changes since that research was published.

Thanks for another great interview! I don't know where else to put this question, so I'll it here. I've been looking forward to the OneSkin OS-01 review (based on your mom's usage), but I haven't seen it. Are you planning on posting it soon? Thanks!

I’m so thankful that I found Asian and European sunscreens this year! I have always tried to wear it but it’s so unpleasant especially on my face… I wish I would’ve found them 10 years ago and known how important the UVA rays are to my face aging bc now I’ve got 10 years of damage showing up!!! But I won’t go another day without it LOVE YOU and I’m so glad I found your channel!!!! Love your content!!! 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍

I'd love to know if there's a minimum/maximum amount if recommended sun exposure depending on skin type for Vitamin D benefits (e.g. 10 minutes per day). There's been research showing deficiency in populations where people cover up (e.g. Muslim population with 100% coverage), with a need of over 2000IU of VitD per day (if I remember rightly).
P.S. thanks do much for this content, it's amazing

Use of daily high factor SPF encouraged by cosmetic industry is focused on anti aging more that skin cancer prevention. I live in England where UV index is low most of the year so risks vs benefits she is taking about is not applicable

This British oncologist makes the case for wearing sunscreen daily even in winter in the UK surgicaloncology.co.uk/dont-forget-to-wear-sunscreen-this-winter/

I do agree with you that many cosmetic companies emphasize anti-aging. We know that UVA rays cause the fine lines, discoloration and other changes consistent with “photoaging.” But do know that there is more and more evidence that even low energy UVA rays cause cancer. Do yourself a favor, apply your sunscreen!

    • @jumpingbee4717
      @jumpingbee4717 Год назад +2

Same here. I don't apply in winter unless the uv index is superior to 2. Also, most of us working a desk job don't even spend that much time outside so... Let's not be ayatollahs about sunscreen...

Great video, v appreciated! Chemical sunscreens all sting my eyes. I have to rely on mineral. Niod survival 30 and Dr Sam's Flawless Gossamer tint 01 are my go-to's for aesthetics. xx

Everything that was good is now bad and visa versa. Im waiting Tretinoan to be bad but im not stopping that and im no stopping sunscreen. If id have known how dangerous going without spf was id have used it daily 30 years ago. Very interesting subject again x

Thank you for this podcast. I also would point that for last 30 years numbers of any type of skin cancers grew innormously. DNA damage have commulative effect and will never show immediately.
And it is mostly happening to people using SP creams for last 30 years.
Also it it's blocking natural vit D penetration that explains pathological low levels of this important vitamin even in ppl who live in very sunny climates.
And of coarse endocrine disruptors in Sunscreens that will show on blood tests 20+ years later.
Also there are many supplements that ppl can take before Sun exposure and it will be safe to have suntan without extra lotions or creams. Thank you very much for all that job you do:)
