I think I’ve bought the 6, 3 times. In my opinion it’s like a light weight hiking shoe. I wear them for everything. Work all day then go for a hike or bike ride. Super durable shoe. I even hiked on muddy trails and no wet feet. When the tread wears out I still mow the lawn in them.

I loved the 6 too, have worn them for years, bought the 7’s and also hated the laces. I kept having to stop to tie them. I’m going to try the 8’s now. Thank you for your review

Really not a fan of paying premium prices for shoes when I'm going to literally run through them in a few months anyway

You are so funny, speaking so passionately about sneakers. Venture 6 has been my favorite for the last couple of years. However, looking at amazon before reading your review, I saw that the eights are cheaper than the sixes. I thought maybe there was a quality issue and I was thinking maybe I shouldn't be such a cheap blankety blank. Now that I've seen your sincere, detailed review, I will indeed go for the Venture 8. Thanks a lot!

Thank you for this video! I am not a runner but I do a lot of walking. It took me a long time to get to the Asics brand, and now I love the gel Venture series. I liked the 6 a lot, but the round laces kept coming undone, and I don't like tying double knots. I was going to order another pair of 7's, but after your review, I'm going to try a pair of 8's. Thanks again!

I'm in Croatia, I ordered 6 today again for very small price, I wanted something new but I'm pretty satisyfied with this trail shoes, sturdy comfortable and for my very wide feet and toes perfect match. I have one pair of Under Armor, Charged Rogue, that is also very comfortable shoes but not trail one. I recommed Asics Venture 6 to buy for everyone with big wide foot. After two years and maybe 1500 km they are stil in good shape. Thanks for your review!

I found a pair of Asics Gel Venture 7 by the side of the road. Not only did they look like they were in new condition, they were in my shoe size. But, what I found most interesting is that Asics was selling them for $70 at one time.

Thank you for such a detailed review, I'm about to purchase a new pair of Asics and this was the video I needed to feel I'm making an informed decision. I hike daily with my dogs, rain or shine. Durability matters, and I like the support I feel with my Asics 6. I was debating with going back to the 6 as my 7 did not last. I bought them in January and they are coming apart at the toe. I will give the 8 a try. Many thanks! Happy feet! Happy life!

Hi! Thanks for the work! I'm thinking of changing the old pair of 7th series (because it's worn out) to the 8th series. But I see that the 8th series has more mesh fabric above the sole. Will there be more sand getting there when running in terrain (lots of sand too)?

  • @StromBugSlayer
    @StromBugSlayer Год назад +1

I've owned the 6 and 7, and I ordered the 8 but had to return them. The 6 and 7 are awesome, with extremely long and evenly wearing treads. The laces for the 7 don't come undone like those on the 6, and otherwise the quality is the same. Both were rugged and looked good. However, when I ordered the 8 in the same size, I discovered that because they eliminated the notch at the heel for your achillies, the shoes no longer fit me.

Recently i bought 2 pairs of Asics trail shoes at great discount. Trabuco Max for about $65 and Gel Venture 8 for about $30. Tested both on a moderate trail approx 10km length over soft ground and rocky terrain.
Trabuco Max is clearly superior. It is very responsive and bouncy and you can go fast. However, the stack height is kinda high and you risk injuring your ankle. Venture 8 are basic trail shoes. The midsole cushioning is just decent. Wont say it is that good. But both shoes performed admirably and the grip was fine. If you are trail running more than hiking, i recommend something with more cushioning. If you mainly walk or hike, gel venture 8 is perfectly adequate and is very good value esp if you get them at deeply discounted prices.

You are wrong when saying that venture 7 are not gonna last. I bought them 2 years ago (in deep green olive color) and after heavy use they are still like almost new. Not to mention that they were among the cheapest shoes that i have ever bought. Really VFM.

Have some Gel Venture 6 and 7 (2 pairs of each).
Love the price, look and they are very comfortable. HOWEVER, I will never be buying them again since they are DANGEROUS on even slightly wet floors / surfaces and it feels like being on an ice skating rink on wet surfaces. EXTREMELY easy to slip, even if one has good balance and recovery skills!
Trying to find the best non-slip sneakers now...

I had many pairs of 7's, they have always been good to me right out the box. The 8's feel like the toe box is...smaller? Narrower? Something about it, doesn't feel right around the toes. Maybe it's just me...

    • @StromBugSlayer

Look at the other end. The heel notch is gone on the 8, pushing your foot further forward in the same length shoe. I had to return my 8's after having worn multiple pairs of 6's and 7's.

I prefer the "6" to the "8". The laces on the "8" are terrible - something one might expect when purchasing cheap replacement laces. The "6" seems more rugged and robust, and has great laces. (PS - I don't run -walker)

To me, your rooting for the 8 is not convincing for the simple reason that you haven’t TRIED them as much as the 6. You tried the 6 well, you ignored the 7 but leaning towards the 8 based on its looks and construction. But thanks for spending the time I still found the video useful

You lost me when you said the Gel 6 was a good shoe. Have to strongly disagree, the 6 is so cheaply made, terrible! My first Asic was the Ventute Gel 5. That 5 shoe is simply amazing. Really opened my eyes to Asics. Unfortunately that did not last long.
Full heartedly agree with all of the reviews on the Gel Venture 5's vs. the 6's. I was so impressed with the Gel 5, I purchased 2 pair of the Gel 6, thinking they would be the same or better. Unfortunately not the case at all. Asic destroyed the gel Venture appearing to cut as much cost out of the shoe as possible when making the 6. The shoe is heavy, hard, stiff, with little cushion. The front tread started coming apart at the toe within months.
Just happened to be searching Google to see if Asics finally fixed their errors with the new 8's. Trying to see if the 8's are back to the quality of the 5's.
Agreeing with all past reviews in comparing the Venture 5's vs. 6's, the 5's fit your foot like a glove, were light, flexible, great foot support and traction. Very durable. Simply the best tennis shoe I've worn. Have been a Nike person forever. Will keep digging on the web to confirm reviews of the new 8's before going back to buying Nike again.
