From Articles of Confederation to the U.S. Constitution (Part 6 of 9): Treason Against the United States
After Americans won independence, they faced challenges that threatened the existence of their infant nation. These pressures motivated a change in government structure from the loose confederacy of states formed during the Revolutionary War under the Articles of Confederation to a more united nation under a new constitution. Saul Cornell addresses specific clauses of the United States Constitution shaped by the experience of the war and the weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation. He closes with approaches in constitutional interpretation today.
Professor Saul Cornell is the author of two prize-winning works in American legal history. He is one of the nation's leading authorities on early American constitutional thought. His work has been widely cited by legal scholars, historians, and has been cited by the U.S Supreme Court and several state supreme courts. Professor Cornell has also been a leading advocate of using new media to teach history and is the author of a new American history text book, Visions of America. This path breaking book uses visual materials to illustrate the competing visions that have shaped American history.

      (R) 2012) easily identifies the nature and penalty of treason as defined in the United States Constitution. Those in political office who have taken the Oath Of Office and do nothing to defend the U.S. Constitution against anything that attacks or diminishes its ability to protect our god given rights have committed treason. AMERICAN CITIZENS ARE PROTECTED BY THE CONSTITUTION, NOT THE GOVERNMENT.

It's disgusting you would even say that ... violence .. your blinded by your own personal brain washing . Grow up ... as your politicians strip away any and all ability's given to us by the constitution .. if only the founders would have know modern evil they would have made that treason and anyone who willfully goes along with the striping of constitutional right is a traitor

    You have it backwards.
There are multiple mechanisms that allow the people to overthrow a government that comes to destructive ends.
Yet the government is not allowed to interfere with the peoples life, liberty, property, and pursuit of happiness.
Constitutional restrictions apply only to the government, not the people. We hold power over the government, NOT the other way round.
It's why the constitution starts with "We the people", NOT "we the powerful elite".
