I've lived through some of nature's most intense moments-from the earthquakes that shook Los Angeles in the mid-'80s, narrowly escaping the Northridge Quake by just two weeks, to facing tornadoes in Nashville, and now, experiencing my first hurricane, Hurricane Helene. In this video, I share my personal story of survival and reflection on these life-changing events. My heart goes out to all those affected by these devastating forces of nature. Here's my account of living through them and what it means to be one of the fortunate ones. Stay safe out there. 🌪️🌍 #Survival #NaturalDisasters #NorthridgeQuake #NashvilleTornadoes #HurricaneHelene #PersonalStory

Within a 12 month period, '97-'98, I experienced a minor earthquake in Seattle, the Nashville tornado while briefly living on 2nd Ave above Lazer Tag & The Melting Pot, then experienced my first hurricane on South Beach, Miami. I actually loved it! Was going thru my Sht & gave me a rush to find the will to survive!😅
SoBe was great. Since man-made isle for WW2 Air base, the old housing all "concrete bunkers" so when they'd evacuate 2 or 3 times a yr for hurricanes we locals would have the place to ourselves. Same with Nashville tornado. Had National Guard trucks rolling down Broadway telling drivers over loud speaker tornado blocks away, get out out & hit a hole!😅 People jumped out of their still running cars & hit Tootsies & other dives along strip. About 30 mins afterwards power was back up for us. I remember the bars took bed sheets & made "After Tornado Party" banners & was "Happy Hour" block party for rest of day for those of us stuck downtown. We had a blast!😅
    Rock On!
    🤘🌎❤️

Weather events can be devastating, especially when u see them first hand and survive it. Awesome forces of nature. Ur in a good spot in Fla considering where the hurricanes typically go. Be safe brother, hurricane season goes though Oct. Sandy back in '12 was late Oct. Destroyed NJ shore. U do get the occasional tornado and I'm sure you've experienced those wild thunderstorms there. You can set ur clocks by the daily rain. Screw down the wig!

Hurricanes, earthquakes and tornadoes... oh my. Like you, I've done all three. A hurricane is a relentless multi-hour gig. Kinda like a Dead concert on acid. It just keeps going and going. A tornado is a punch in the face power chord at max volume and gain way up. Earthquake... a full on rumble of a fuzzed-up bass, jarring at first with feedback, then echoing out. Everything shakes, rattles and rolls.

I reckon you were there for the Landers quake in 1992. And then the aftershock was the Big Bear quake a couple of hours later.
Early morning. Woke me up. House rattling. And I had no idea how much fun it was until it was over.

We had a 4.8 earthquake about 20 miles away across the state line back in 2012 or 13 in NW Louisiana. I had just made a cat door in my camper van so she could get in and I thought she trashed the place because I was passed out on Evan Williams. My first near-death hurricane was Betsy in New Orleans in 1965. My dad had to secure a job site and we got stranded when gas stations closed.
We lost his truck to the storm and all the windows blew out in our hotel and a demon thing (glowing red vicious head witnessed by multiple people) followed us home and haunted us until we moved in the 80s. Spirit/demon sightings were very common after Katrina too. New Orleans is dangerous! Laura was very bad here in 2020 with no power for 3 weeks and 80 mph winds. I`ve been in a lot of hurricanes and tornadoes since the 60s. Close calls.

Wow incredible story. Katrina was something else. Can’t imagine that.

@@badbrad A bass player came over to my house to practice in 1982. I was the drummer and singer. He had heard about our haunted house and laughed about it and said outloud in the house, "There`s no such thing as ghosts." I told him that was a big mistake. Later that night whatever this thing was threw about 20 old heavy nursing shoes at him and hit him right in the chest. He apologized and it never bothered him again.
Another guy I knew got very rude one morning about it in 1986 and called me a liar about the red glowing head. It came up to him about 10 minutes later and scared him half to death. He described it as an "evil pumpkin head." I saw it in the 70s. It didn`t look human and was putting off heat and looked vicious. I got out of the house by 1988. I refused to go back in there and even left some of my drums.

Here in Upstate SC still 3 days so far with no power saying it can be a week or longer,no gas, most restaurants and grocery stores have no power and have lost a lot off their products. Instead of holding a guitar in my hands this weekend I been running a chainsaw and a 10 LP shouldn’t be a issue after this. Me and my wife were talking tonight how it seems everyone still has a smile on their face and very pleasant. Thanks to Helene We got 21 inches of rain and 69 MPH gust. Yes, you can imagine the havoc that wreaked on those trees, rivers and streams and unfortunately lives were lost. The worst this area has ever seen. But with all that has happened we still are blessed it still could have been worse. The area will get cleaned up the power will get restored and the stores will get restocked and life will continue.
    SALUTE

I know some people don't want to come to California because of earthquakes- but I have never wanted to "twirl", nor be in a hurricane, with so much rain, and swells from bodies of water; nor forced flooding from those events.

Good morning yeah those are some crazy stories..relieved your family are more inland ..I don’t want to live in fear of tornadoes or quakes either. I’m not a fan of snowstorms or below 40 temps (from most of life in Colorado), or earthquake tremors & dreary weather( lived in San Francisco), dreary weather & rain & freezing cold living in England . I’m 1 mi from Clearwater beach bridge now but out of evacuation zone. Our generators are still on (power went out at 2am last night ugh)

Brad, did you ever see the footage the crane operator filmed from his perch in downtown Nashville, in 2020? Imagine the fear/adrenaline that dude had knowing he had no choice but to stay in his crane and pray the twister didn’t head his way! It’s on YT if you’ve never seen it
