Here is the fun part. Luka 25, Gafford 25, Washington 25, Green 23, Hardy 22, Lively 20... 6 of our 9 current rotation players are 25 or younger. Means this team isnt just good right now, they have plenty of time to grow together and get even better. Ad O-Max as another lenghy (6'8, 230 lbs, 7'2 wingspan) and athletic 3&D talent (probably to replace Maxi in a year or 2) and Dallas is perfectly set up for the future. All we have to do is open up the cap space to sign DJJ (also only 27 years old) with the 12 Mio MLE long term and we are more or less set for the forseable future. Or to say it short, get rid of THJ's expiring contract to a cap space team, cause he isnt needed anymore. Right now I am just happy, looking back at last years team. The turnaround is remarkable and to be honest, Harrison shouldve won the GM of the year! Its easy to make a Contender better. Its not easy to turn a team that missed the Play In into a contender while completely changing the roster.

Without the trade exception we do not get Holmes + O-Max, without Holmes and the OKC 1st we do not have the matching salary and asset to trade for Gafford. Its crazy that the Thunder gave us everything we needed to get the Center rotation that helped us beat them in the Playoffs.

This postseason every player on the Mavs has totally outdone themselves. Luka wasn't the greatest for a while cause of injury, and Kyrie wasn't the hottest either, but the rest of the team stepped up when we needed them. Absolutely incredible!

Kyrie during the Clipper series, which some people seem to suddenly forget, averaged 26.5 PPG and shot %51.4 FG and %45 from 3PT, and scoring 30+ in half the games in the series, coming up clutch again and again. While locking up Harden in multiple games on the defensive side. He shot %42.3 from 3PT this series too, although his scoring output was roughly -10 below his averages, taking only 14 shots a game. He seemed to be pacing himself at times and have been giving the stage to Luka and other teammates to shine, which Luka did in the last two games and PJ did in the previous ones (and DJJ). It is a long journey to a championship and everybody on the team needs to feel confident to succeed as a team. If it all comes together, anything is possible.

In reality Luka is easily a top ten all time best player, with an extremely high IQ. So, not really a shock that when he turned his interest to Defense he is great at that too. He is Mister Fundamentals.
Hopefully the era of top heavy superteams is done. The Mavs, Nuggets and Wolves have shown that you need depth and players that complement each others' styles. That's how basketball is meant to be played.

To acquire PJ Washington Mavs first also gave up an unprotected swap to the Spurs to get Grant Williams. Mavs don't have only 2 fantastic lob threats. Besides Gafford and Lively, Washington and Jones are also fantastic lob threats, and Josh Green can jump as well. Damn, even Kyrie caught a couple of monster alley ups.
Keep in mind the Mavs tanking was a snowball effect. So they tanked to get lively, but they also traded back which landed him the ability to trade for another pick (omax) and rischaun Holmes who then turned into Daniel gafford

The Wolves have enough perimeter defenders with length to throw at Luka and Kyrie that it’ll keep ANT fresh to get at least 30 per game. OKC has already played their 81st game the day before, Apr 6, and won. OKC were at 39-42 at that point. Even if OKC lost in their last regular season game, that would bring them to 39-43. Then, assuming the last DAL game was won, that would also bring DAL to 39-43. That means there will be a tiebreaker, and the first tiebreaker was who won the season series. OKC won the season series already by January, a month before the Kyrie trade was even made. So even if DAL didn't "tank", they'd still be in the lottery anyway. If that was actually "tanking", IDK what POR and DET (among other teams) were doing then.

luka is good in on-ball defense situations but off ball sometimes he lacks, but his offense does makes up for it

OKC has already played their 81st game the day before, Apr 6, and won. OKC were at 39-42 at that point.
Even if OKC lost in their last regular season game, that would bring them to 39-43. Then, assuming the last DAL game was won, that would also bring DAL to 39-43.
That means there will be a tiebreaker, and the first tiebreaker was who won the season series. OKC won the season series already by January, a month before the Kyrie trade was even made. So even if DAL didn't "tank", they'd still be in the lottery anyway.
If that was actually "tanking", IDK what POR and DET (among other teams) were doing then.
