  • 1966 Plymouth Belvedere II 426 Hemi Convertible Muscle Car Of The Week Video #36
This one reminds us of the Big Bad Wolf dressed up in Granny's nightgown... a 425 HP 426 Hemi V8 under the hood of a 1966 Plymouth Belvedere II convertible wearing color code 661 Metallic Mauve. Yeah, it's pink. And yeah, it's a baaad machine! Plymouth made 10 '66 Belvedere II Hemi drop-tops, 6 automatics, and only one in this color, making this one of the rarest Mopars in the Brothers Collection. It's been perfectly restored, but it still features its original driveline. And because it's a 1 of 1, it's been restored to it's original Metallic Mauve. Would it be more fun in black or red? Who knows, but we wouldn't turn it down!

" The big bad wolf in Grandmas clothing" -- best analogy ever regarding mid 60s hemi cars.

It didn't matter about the H.P. if you can't make the tires hook you are going to lose some races against cars with a lot less H. P.
That being said, I love the GTX !

I've beat some much more powerful cars with my 67 Buick Skylark with a Chevy 327, 4 speed. The 327 was a 300 HP factory. I did some head work, better Cam, of course the normal Intake, Holley, Quality Headers. I should of been hitting the 375-400 HP mark. It was quick revving, 7,000 no problem. But, it would hook and go. They were spinning while I was leaving.

Great old Mopar, but I don't go for sleepers, Ford, GM or Mopar! Give me a flashy Viper GTS any day! Ram Air Trans Am! Vette Z06 and ZR1 and Ford GT!😁

in 1976 a guy I worked with at a dodge dealership sold me one of these, for 550 dollars it was a rust bucket,i ran the vin while it was going to the crusher,so one of these is missing you will not find it,it was beyond restoration, the hemi was gone,it was an automatic car with a 361 wedge in it,for power,it was lifeless as power goes,it was rusted so bad the undercarriage with dangerous, quit looking for it,its gone,i think I still have the title somewhere, bad rust, bad luck

It would look better with wider tires. And ANY other color.

This hemi powered car were mostly all myth and no real speed on the street.
Chrysler build fat, obesely heavy over weight car. They were quick but the too heavy hemi was a cow and was not fast on the street. My 440 Charger always shot them down, without fail.

stoplight is where the 440 was at home, i owned 7 440 b-bodies over the years
the highway is where the hemi did its thing in my opinon & i've been in a 67 gtx with 426 auto & 3.54 at wot.

Watch the MCotW video 10 Quickest Cars of 1970. 3 out of the 5 quickest 1/4 mile times as tested by magazines were 426 Hemi powered Mopars...a Hemi Cuda, Challenger R/T, and Roadrunner. The other 2 cars in the top 5 were an LS6 Chevelle and a Buick GSX 455 Stage 1. Even a Hemi Cuda convertible made the top 10 and they were heavier than a hardtop/coupe. A 440/6 Challenger R/T also cracked the top 10
