Matt Barlow will always be my favorite Iced Earth vocalist but stu did a phenomenal I repeat a phenomenal job on the song...he is also a brilliant lead for Iced Earth.
Man....this is so good. I've loved this song for so long and I love that they still play it live! Listen to the crowd! This is an all time, beautiful classic song!
That guitar playing is as good if not better than any other that has played this magnificent song. As for the vocals , nothing can match the version from 'Alive in Athens' In fact not even the version from 'Festivals of the wicked'. So Stu has done an exceptionally good version of this song and again as proved to be up to the job of being Iced Earths vocalist. The great Jon Schaffer has picked the right man.
exactly... i'm a big fan of matt barlow and he'll always be for me the "demon" and true vocalist of iced earth... but STU is definitely a brilliant replacement!

@@N0rth3rnP1k3What? As much as I like Iced Earth's albums with Block, he absolutely butchers most of Matt's songs live, and this one's not an exception. Just listen to those fake highs at the end. You may learn to tolerate it in pieces like Wolf and Dracula, but it absolutely ruins songs like I Died For You and Watching Over Me.
And as usual the tone deaf fanboys are out in force, claiming that Stu can't hit the high notes despite the fact that he clearly hits them much more consistently than Barlow himself did.

Writing and performing something doesn't mean you can hit the notes, which is evident when you listen to pretty much all live recordings of this song with Barlow, where he struggles immensely and hits 1 really high note out of 10 at best. Stu has much more control over his voice and is much more consistent, which anyone with some knowledge about singing will tell you. End of story.

Stu just can't really manage the last few lines of this song. Matt would fucking rip this song apart at the end, the power he placed on those last lines were out of this world. Nothing comes close. Still, Stu is doing pretty well in IE.
Yeah , Barlow would fucking rip that apart but Stu's screams and stuffs at Declaration Day , Ten Thousand Strong , Burning Times etc. is a lot better than Barlow
Barlow rarely ever nailed the ending live, let alone even attempt the highest part. The only time I ever heard him attempt the high note since the mid 90's was in '08, and he botched.

Please admit that this was technically far better than Barlow's live versions. But Barlow is still better overall on this particular song.
