I had almost the same problem with my Russell hobbs kettle. The switch also didn't work properly anymore, but I managed to fix it. Great work my friend, now you can enjoy the toasted bread again.
Nice job Jan, now you can have your morning toast. The star looks like new once again. Enjoy these next few days before the New Year. Take care my friend
Always nice to see an appliance saved from the dump, a guy in Strand recently managed to repair my 43 year old Pioneer amp, works like new. Hope you and the family had a blessed Christmas Jan.
Years ago here in the U.S., we had small appliance repair shops. If your toaster acted up, you could take it in and get it fixed. In modern times with the advent of cheap import appliances, most people just throw the broken appliance away and buy a new one as it would cost more to fix it than replace it. Consequently, the small appliance repair shops no longer exist. Watching you work on this toaster was a refreshing reminder of days gone by.
Thanks for the kind comment Matt, and yes it is very true, I guess in 90% of homes this would just be scrapped, I am to old school to not at least try and look for a simple fault
Good evening Jan. As Matt said, used to be many appliance repair shops, they would repair anything from a toaster to the oven and refrigerator.. but anymore, parts and labor costs more than buying a new piece of junk... But you know, there are still many of us that tinker and hopefully fix stuff anyway 👍😁

That is true Ed, on this toaster it really needs 3 technical brains sells to repair, on other academic skills I did not have one brain sell lol
