Quality content Richard, just stumbled across your channel & love how you put this together, awaiting my drone to arrive then going to head up here myself some day for a spot of wild camping and footage.
Thanks 👍 I go for a trail run 3 times per week (roughly 3 miles per run) and cycle about 10 miles per week. I try to go hiking in the Mournes once every 2 weeks. I find all of that keeps my fitness levels quite high. Hiking isn't favourite though. It's a good physical workout but it also is great for clearing the head! Thanks for watching and for your comments. I appreciate it. All the best, Richard
Hi Richard, stumbled upon this and really enjoyed it. I've hiked quite a bit in the Mournes and love the Binnian Silent valley area. Quick question if you don't mind, where can you park overnight that's safe? I've wanted to solo camp in the mournes for ages but have always been nervous of leaving the car overnight. Thanks
Thanks... glad you liked it. I have the same concern about leaving my car in the Mournes. There's only a handful of places I am happy to leave my car overnight... Meelmore Lodge is the main one (I think they now charge for overnight stays... about £8 or so). I like staying there because there are showers and a good cafe too... It's not particularly convenient for Slieve Binnian, although you can hike up to Hare's Gap and then take the faint path down to the end of Ben Crom reservoir where there is an idyllic wild camping spot on a flat piece of grass beside the water's edge (where the Kilkeel River flows into Ben Crom reservoir)... There is also a little used trail (rough in places) that hugs the Eastern edge of Ben Crom reservoir, all the way to Ben Crom Dam. From there, Binnian and Silent Valley are close. If I was starting from the Silent Valley / Binnian side, I would arrange to be dropped off and collected by a friend (or local B&B owner who might do it if you are staying one night with them before wild camping)... One other thing you might want to check... The Carrick Little Cafe (very handy to Slieve Binnian) and Carrick Little Glamping Site both have private car parks....you could phone and ask whether they would let you park overnight (maybe they have a set fee). Hope this helps
@@richardrambles6259 that definitely helps Richard thanks so much. I've done Meelmore before it's a great aul spot! I'm heading up the weekend so I might nip into the gramping spot and ask them if they'd take a few quid for overnight parking. Thanks man and keep up the videos, really good work

Another great video. Do you do any cross-training to supplement your hiking fitness? Jogging or running?
