In 1964 I was assigned to the 379 Trans co 36 trans Bn. From Ft Bragg . The entire company convoyed to West Point Milt Academe to train and explain to cadets there about all factions of a transportation unit. One of the major things we did was drive our 2 1/2 trucks completely submerged with only our heads above water and the 2 snorkels . One for intake and the other for exhaust. What an absolute amazing experience.
@@gaberobinson8210 Imo only problem is the parts are heavy as hell, depending on what you're messing with, other than that everything is easy to get too
Yes, this is real. No, this is not an M35A2, it's a M34. The M35A2 has a turbocharged multifuel engine. It will run on diesel, gas, kerosene, jet fuel; just about anything, including waste motor oil. Mine gets 14 mpg on the highway at 50-55 mph and 8 city. With recycled oil (fuel), the cost per mile is nil. Mine has a 7 foot snorkel: deeper water, longer snorkel. America sure did design and build some amazing machinery.
Just bought a 1954 M211 Deuce a few weeks ago. Get big waves and thumbs up everywhere I go. :) Fun truck. Everyone keeps asking what I'm going to do with it and I say its going to be my pickup. Don't really need any other truck once you have one of these lol :P
love the old training film great stuff to watch with the old ball n chain! just what Uncle Sam ordered! Son, I think you're gonna Make Sgt. someday! lol
I have always wondered why military's of the world did not do this more often and why they don't still do this. There must be some in reality thing that got impracticable
The amount of side pressure you get on a vehicle in only a foot of running water is absolutely insane, so you often don't want to do this even if you can, and if you've no idea what the river bottom is, you're better off waiting for a barge or going around.
My dad drove these with diesel tankers on the back through the rubber plantations in vietnam. He said snipers were always taking pop shots at the tanker thinking it would explode.
That is an early 50's M-34 not an M-35.This was just before the M-35.The M- 34 had the raised wheel wells as seen in this clip singles on the rear axles gasoline engine.produced from 1950-51,m-35 in production from 52-93. Really like this old clip.
You're way off on the M35.The M35 truck was made from 1950-1988,not 1952-1993.1990-1999 was when they had the M35A3,which had the 3116 Caterpillar. The M34 was made roughly around 1949,and both including the M35A0 had the OA-331 Gasoline. The M35A2 didn't come out until 1967,because 1961-1966 you had the M35A1 with the LDT-427,and those from 1950-1960 were all Gassers.
+joebulls1 it's not weird for non athiests dude, get the fuck out of here and stop fucking worrying about my comment, I can say God bless anything I feel like
Come along with the Snorks Swim along with the Snorks So much to see waiting for you and me Have some fun with the Snorks Play along with the Snorks Sing along with the Snorks So much to see waiting for you and me Have some fun with the Snorks If you can breathe underwater Where would you go You have friends underwater Who would you know? M34,not even a M35.M35A1's were made from 1961-1966 and had a LDT-427-1A. The M34A0 and M35A0,being the M35A0 from 1950-1960 were all Gasoline and had a OA-331.
Only in the minds of those late 40's early 50's would people think to toss in a "mermaid" or to just to make it look cool. Stupid crap. Cool test of the truck. I can see almost no value to it on all vehicles, but cool test none the less...

14 MPG? Mine and all others I previously owned only got 10-11 MPG at most.Any other time I'm getting 7-8 MPG.
