I am getting goose bumps from it, as they are! It is not why they do not give credit, but that We Stand Up and Claim Our Treasures! Take Possession of Our Culture and Protect it.

I find this presentation extremely insensitive. Gede Nibo is a prominent figure in Haitian Vodou, associated with sexuality and those who die young. Slaves brought vodou to Haiti and were forced to convert to Catholicism by white colonizers. Having a majority white choir sing about a sacred Haitian religion that they are not apart of (as well as acting as slaves, which is completely disrespectful to one of the ugliest parts of human history) that was and still is demonized by the rest of the world is misrepresentative and absolutely audacious. As Lyne Blue has mentioned, white people utilizing a song from a religion that they have denigrated in history for the sake of "exotic" entertainment without taking the time and consideration to authentically represent a nuanced religion is shameful.

Thank you for your perspective. We embrace music by many cultures, and do our utmost at all times to perform with the greatest possible respect. We are heartened by the many enthusiastic comments this video has received from Haitian viewers, but we nevertheless acknowledge your concerns.

While it might be a bit weird to hear and see this piece performed by White Canadians , the intention was to honor Haiti, which you insensitively refuse to comprehend. The composer of the music was called a Black Chopin, since Ludovic Lamothe favored Chopin above others he studied. Lamothe is a great composer.

Actually it is black christians especially black africans who denigrate Vodou today. I appreciate the work of these white people.
