    I am on 200mg for bipolar 2. For side effect, I have blocked nose. No worries..just use nasal spray. Best part of this med is that I sleep peacefully. I am less irritable, angry and more self aware. 3 years now. Better quality of life and self determination. My 2 cents worth.

    • @antisuz183
      @antisuz183 2 месяца назад

      I used the same dosage for the same reason for many years. And yes, it helped me sleep. All the goodies went away last year. Sleep disturbances like sleep paralysis and nightmares, insomnia despite dutyfully taking my Seroquel and hour before sleeping time, aching muscles and involuntory movement of arms, hand and fingers, mood swings and ugly anger outbursts, irregular heart beat, palpitations, sudden low blood pressure and fainting, clumsiness, bad co-ordination, cognitive impairment, falling, high cholestrol, hypothyroidism and yes, a blocked nose the moment I lied down. Did you know that it can cause sudden death from a heart attack? I am now sickly. Stopped the damn pills by tapering the dosage slowly as directed by my GP. The mood swings dissappeared within days after I took the last 25mg, but now I have insomnia so bad that I dont sleep for even a few minutes 3 nights in a row if I dont take a sleeping pill which I dont want to do. I stronly recommend that youdo proper research on the internet on the long term side effects and go tell your doctor to take the seroquel himself. You dont need to use a anti-psychotic drug, you do not suffer from hypermania if you are Bipolar 2. There are many non-psychotic drugs that you can use for your Bipolar Depression. Good luck with your illness. And please, I fully understand your need for medication, but do not blindly accept what the dr. say, they only mimic what the manufaturer's rep told them. (There were several court cases in the US against the manufacturers in I think 2007 for not declaring that Seroquel can cause diabetes, and they had to pay out millions of Dollars.) It also came out that the reps offered incentives to doctors who prescribed seroquel). Do your own homework first. I am now at the stage where I take no meds before I have done my own research.

    I started lactating and lost my period and was incredibly itchy. It turned out that the tiny dose I took for sleep gave me a pituitary gland tumour that gave me menopause at 30, the endocrinologist said I had the hormones of an 80 year old. I had to take Dostinex to shrink the tumour and spent every weekend in bed throwing up from it. The first time I took seroquel I fainted in the shower, I was 22 and I phoned the doctor saying I don’t want to take this stuff. She told me I had to so I did what she said. She also put me on Effexor 150 and that eventually gave me seizures. Then Lexapro and that gave me seizures too.

      @@Adam_mohammed_ I still use 50mg for sleep, I did go down to 25mg but that amount didn't help me sleep at all. For me it's not so much about getting to sleep I can usually fall asleep at night without medication, it's staying asleep and having a nice long relaxing sleep that I have trouble with, if I don't take seroquel I wake up multiple times during the night and have trouble getting back to sleep and I wake up very early in the morning feeling tired like I had a rough restless night, if I take 50mg of seroquel I sleep deeply like a baby for a good 8 or 9 hours and wake up feeling well rested.

I kind of don't mind it I have generalised anxiety disorder which is why I use seroquel to get a good sleep, anxiety destroys my appetite I can go days without eating anything and feel absolutely no hunger and I've lost a lot of weight as a result, so seroquel giving me the munchies at night is good in that I actually get hungry and eat, except generally it's not the best time to eat most of the food I'll eat for the day, late at night right before sleep, it's a good way to get fat, but at the moment I'm not getting fat so I'm ok with it 👍

      Everyone is different, so I would definitely talk to your psychiatrist about it, but also wanted to share my personal experience, in case you were interested.
      I was diagnosed with Bipolar 1 disorder at 29 (I’m 36 now). My psychiatrist actually started me off around 100mg because I literally couldn’t sleep more than an hour or 2 at a time, often staying up for 2 or 3 days straight and then crashing for a full day. I was almost always in a state of hypomania (I would dip in to a deep state of depression or have mixed episodes every few months as well). That’s why she started be at 100 mg, but my ideal dose ended up being about 200mg, which she had upped me to within the first 6 months. I stayed on that dose for quite a while.
      I’m currently at 400mg a night (7 years after starting it), since my body got used to each dose, the longer I have been on it.
      I’ve been on that dose for about a year and a half to 2 years now and usually still have break through episodes once or twice a year. When that happens, I will generally up my dose 50mg-100mg, but have been able to go back to the 400mg dose after an episode and be fine.
      This medication has been a life saver for me and I’m so grateful for it. But like I said, everyone reacts to medications differently, and this may not be the right drug for certain people. I hope you find what works best for you, whether that be a higher dose of this medicine or something else 💕💕💕
