Lyrics:
I only got you in my stories
And you know I tell them right
I remember you and I, when I'm awake at night
So give it up for fallen glory
I never got to say goodbye
I wish I could ask for just a bit more time
Every step I take, you used to lead the way
Now I'm terrified to face it on my own
You're not there
To celebrate the man that you made
You're not there
To share in my success and mistakes
Isn't fair
You'll never know the person I'll be
You're not there
With me
Though I know that you're not there
I still write you all these songs
It's like, you got the right to know what's going on
As I struggle to remember how you used to look and sound
At times I still think I can spot you in the crowd
Every step I take, you used to lead the way
Now I'm terrified to face it on my own
You're not there
To celebrate the man that you made
You're not there
To share in my success and mistakes
Isn't fair
You'll never know the person I'll be
You're not there
With me
Time can heal your wounds if
You're strong and standing tall
I've been doing all of that, it didn't help at all
They say, "You'll grow older, and it'll get better still"
Yes, I will, but no, it won't
They don't get it, 'cause
You're not there
To celebrate the man that you made
You're not there
To share in my success and mistakes
Isn't fair
You'll never know the person I'll be
You're not there
With me

His songs are so emotional.....
“The hardest part of growing up is realising our parents are growing old.”
After losing my dad to Covid and not even being allowed to visit him in the hospital to say goodbye, this song hits too close to home. I can’t even finish listening to it
Isn't it strange that you don't care about someone but once their gone you regret everything bad you ever did to them
Thanks to this young man's lyrical genius I'm now talking to my dad again after a very long time.
I lost my father 2 days ago now due to suicide. If you’re reading this just know you’re enough and you are loved and there are people who want you here. My father meant everything to me.
My grandmother passed away in the hospital yesterday. Now it feels surreal.. having this playing in the background helps.
Please guys remember that Lukas Graham is a band. Lukas is not a solist - his name is Lukas "Graham" Forchammer. The band name is Lukas Graham and they deserve recognition and respect, not only Lukas.
Almost certain this song is about his dad being dead and how he misses him.
My father died last year of cancer. Now I’m 23 and this song definitely describes perfect my feelings and emotions, especially the last lines. As time goes through, I realize that it’s something that I’ll never get over. I’ll learn how to live dealing with it, but not getting over it. Greetings and a warm-hearted embrace to everyone who has lost a loved one💫
Anybody who lost someone please I pray for better days and comfort for u all 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
You never realize how much a person means to you till you lose them 😞💔
This song should've been a #1 hit. I don't understand why it didn't get the support it needed. Such a beautiful song, and one of the best ever released.
I lost my Mother at the age of 7 I am now 22 and this song is absolutely everything and reading these comments I just want to tell you all that I love you and your loved one does as well
Just lost my husband of 20 years 4 days ago. His passing was very sudden. This song both comforts n gets me crying at the same time. I’m hoping what Luke says is right. Time can heal if I’m strong.
I really miss my father. where ever you are i love you!
Did anyone else notice how they started playing "Funeral" at
Just lost my dad last night, this song gives me comfort even when I feel like my world is collapsing. Thank you. He was supposed to watch me graduate college, get married, and have kids😭
this song reminds my dad. he took his life when i was little and my mom wasn’t in the picture so when he left i had no one. i get choked up when i listen to this. i spent many years hating him for what he did but now i’ve realized how much he was going through. i always felt like it was my fault bc he was so young (18 when i was born, mom 15) he took he life at 22. i thought i ruined his. i feel sorry for him, he missed out on a lot. i just wanted to put write this comment for anyone who is thinking the thoughts my dad did or if anyone went through what i did, it will get better. life throws things at us for a reason. stay strong and overcome. there’s a reason for everything!
