  • The new helipad at Brigham and Women’s Hospital opened today. In this video, Boston MedFlight (BMF) made a training landing to assure safe operations into and out of the helipad.
Approximately 500 medical flights arrive at BWH each year, with approximately 30% of those going to Boston Children's Hospital. The new helipad is 262 feet high, 50 feet higher than the old location. It is bigger than the previous helipad, can support a Coast Guard Jayhawk helicopter, and is heated to melt the ice and snow away during the winter months.
The helipad was relocated due to a construction project at Boston Children’s Hospital, which is adjacent to Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Construction of the new helipad began last October and took about a year. The helicopter in the video is the Airbus H145. The H145 provides significant safety and performance improvement over older models, and is the quietest mid-size helicopter available. BMF is only the second air ambulance company in the U.S. operating this technically advanced model.
Some of this video footage was shot by James P. Rathmell, MD, who not only is the Brigham’s chair of the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine, but is also licensed to operate a drone.

Sweeeeeeet! Do you by chance recommend any good LUTS for editing in post production? I just got the DJI Mavic Pro 2 and I'm excited to see how the footage turns out! I'm trying to find some great LUTS for the drone footage. 😀
