I think WVU is very underrated
We will see because they did have a cupcake schedule last year.
Overrated before last year Neal brown there coach was on the hot seat I I think he still on the hot seat..
@@cjboyer4355 WVU had the 3rd hardest strength of schedule in the nation last year and they played 11 power 5 schools.
@@daltonlogan7320 Baylor, Houston, Texas Tech, BYU, TCU, Pitt, Duquesne we’re not good teams! You played 7 of the bottom 8 teams in the conference. You got smashed by every decent team you played other then UNC who had players opt out of the bowl game.
@@cjboyer4355 3rd SoS in the country. I didn’t play anyone. I’m not a WVU fan, they’re underrated and played with a backup qb for half the season. You very obviously don’t know football if you think they had an easy schedule
How is WVU not at least in tier 2
As a kstater I agree
Yes Avery Johnson can throw. There is a reason he was an elite 11 finalist.
Highschool stats for three years of highschool ball.
Passing yards: 7426 yards
TDs: 74
Ints: 6
Career completion %: 68%
Dude is a baller and is going to light up the big 12.. He accounted for 12Tds in two games worth of playing time in 2023 lol.
1. Utah
2. Kansas St.
3. Oklahoma St.
4. WVU
5. Kansas
6. Iowa St.
7. Arizona
8. UCF
9. Texas Tech
10. TCU
11. Colorado
12. Baylor
13. Arizona St
14. BYU
15. Houston
16. Cincinnati
Assuming all teams stay healthy and players returning perform to the level we know they can ex. Cam Rising and Jalon Daniels
If Daniels stays healthy KU has a legit shot at the BIG 12 title.
@@cjboyer4355I’m not saying they don’t, but top to bottom I like the 4 teams above them better
@@tmcobb04 I’m not sold on WVU yet but the other 3 yes.
@@cjboyer4355 That’s understandable, but I have them there because they were a Hail Mary and a 4th quarter fall apart from an 11 win season, they return essentially all offensive production and have drastically improved their defense. If Daniels is healthy and plays how we know he can, I like JD over Garrett Green but as for the team as a whole, I’ll take the mountaineers
@@tmcobb04 Kansas returns Daniels, Devin Neal, Highshaw, there 3 starting receivers who have been the starters the past 3 years, and a ton of production on the o-line and defensive side. This season is the one Kansas has been building too since Leipold took over.
WVU on the other hand didn’t have a single good win in 2023 every good team they played they got demolished I think they played 7/8 teams at the bottom of the Big 12. The UNC win would’ve been impressive if all of UNC’s players including Maye had played in the bowl but they didn’t.
It feels impossible to predict what's going to happen in the new Big 12.
I think that's a fair assessment of Texas Tech. The ceiling is pretty high IF they can keep their QB healthy. That however is a huge question mark though.
Everyone is sleeping on WVU. Again. I love it. It’s gonna be a rough season for our opponents.
the perception wont change until WVU starts winning some big games, against ranked teams. they get another chance in a few months.
@@Central_Media3656 you’re so right
@@TheYates27 I think they got a real shot against Penn State. Wont be easy tho.
@@Central_Media3656 yea just like last year that’ll be a pretty good gauge for well the teams gonna play the rest of the year. Personally I have this feeling they’re going to blow a lead and lose. Or make a comeback just to lose close. Idk hope I’m wrong
OU fan. I’m going to miss the Big12. It really felt like a bunch of teams were opening up and it would have been awesome to start playing teams like Utah and AZ on a regular basis
Kansas State and Avery will show you who he is on week 3 Friday night vs Arizona. Can’t wait for the local boy to show everyone why Will Howard chose to transfer.
Not to correct you on KState but klieman is a defensive coach, more specifically D Back. Our OC is the o-line guy. Great coach. Love KState and hope we win the conference. I think the first 5 teams all have a case for #1
Alan Bowman in 2023, while on the same team as the nations leading rusher and splitting reps in the first 3 games, put up 3460 yards in the air. That is more than any of the other current XII QBs have ever gotten in a single season (at P5 level, *Shedeur). Also, he is 1 of 2 current (21 all time) QBs with a 600+ yard game in his career. This will be his 7th season, and he has spent plenty of time in high offensive systems at Tech and Michigan, gaining a lot of knowledge and experience. Also, this is his second year in the program and Gundy has always been adamant that it takes at least a full year to have the offense down as a QB in his system.
Also, Garret Rangel has made serious improvements. But QB2 is expected to be Zane Flores, who might could be QB1 even by the time conference play comes around.
Bowman lost some weight and got straight on arm. He sat for 2 years. Keep the big 3 recievers healthy it will be a 4000 year.
I'm really, really anxious to see how good OSU's offense ends up being. This feels like one of Gundy's best-ever offenses. I have a gut feeling that Bowman will surprise and Gordon will underwhelm a la Chuba Hubbard's 2020 after leading the country in 2019.
Wow ! This conference is something ! Football is like the basketball…..very competitive and all teams are pretty damn good !
If all schedules were created equally, WVU should be in the top 3-4. However, WVU's schedule is one of the more brutal schedules. KState, Kansas, & Utah's path to Dallas is far easier than WVU's. That said, if WVU remains healthy, I believe they have the talent, skillsets, & experience to make it to Dallas. We got some great portal additions on both sides of the ball, we return some of the highest snap counts in the league, and I think both sides of the ball take healthy steps forward from how they played last year.
Defense was rated in the top 15 until after the TCU game, after we lost a few critical players to injury. With far better depth this year, I think with our portal additions and getting everyone back, our defense should play better than they did during the first half of last year.
Offensively with all we have returning on OL(6 of our starting/rotating 8 returning), WR, RB, & QB, we should play better than how they did near the end of the season. Esp now that Greene isnt dependent on a bunch of true freshmen at WR. Something most people overlook from last year, as Clement, Ray, & Gallanger were all true freshmen, Jaheim White too.
With as many home run threats that WVU will have on the field, allows them to be incredibly diverse in how they attack opposing defenses to reduce predictability and maintain superior ToP, further improving Defensive play.
We have a few tough road games, Okie St, Arizona, & Texas Tech, but we do get KState, Kansas, IowaSt, & UCF at home. Still, its a brutal schedule and will require WVU to remain healthy in order to make it to Dallas. WVU doesnt play any of the bottom teams, tho who knows how a few of these teams play this season. Maybe a few wont be as tough as we think.
The statement of Tech not having a healthy QB for two straight years is half true. Tech hasn't had a healthy QB for 6 straight years. They've played 3 different QB's because of injury for the last 3 seasons. They have a high ceiling ONLY if they can stay healthy.
Very much looking forward to the new look Big 12. In my opinion we are at the point where winning is more important than expansion. You win, you get viewers, you get media money, you get stability.
Avery Johnson didn’t excel at the Elite 11 camp because of his running ability. He’s a very gifted passer.
Chris Klieman was a DB. You’re thinking of newly minted OC Conor Riley.
yeah, they're confusing him with CR.
Coach Riley though is a top 15 OL coach in FBS, so KSU has no worries about OL. they added some dudes from the TP and have recruited some really, really big guys. The average size for the OL room currently is 6'6" 300lbs.
Big 12 strength of schedule ranking a segment you’ve done yet? Thx guys!
Oklahoma State is the best team in the new Big 12. They will dominate.
My list: OSU first, Kansas State second, Utah third, Kansas fourth, Arizona fifth, Iowa State sixth, Texas Tech seventh, UCF eighth
Tell me you know nothing about Arizona without telling me you know nothing about Arizona…
Cam is healthy and ready to go!
I just read you have WVU in the 3rd tier. You get no like from me and I refuse to finish the video.
Butt hurt much???
Boo frickin’ Hoo!!
They played a cupcake schedule last year.
@@cjboyer4355 They were also mostly first and second year starters. When we pound salt in all your asses this year you’re gonna have excuses too. Highlight that.
WVU is a contender this year. I don't get why people are high on Arizona sure you have a good QB but what else? Even the coach is new and we have no guarantee the QB works in a different system.
Tech hasn’t had a healthy qb since Mahomes was a sophomore
Ok, I am willing to overlook the fact that you put us at 8,we like being the underdog, but calling us Virginia Tech….. just be happy we are generally good people.
"KSU has OL issues and their QB can't throw so they're my number one because they've done it before" is the dumbest analysis I've ever heard.
KSU has zero OL issues. They lost 4 guys to either graduation or the draft, but they've replaced them all with bigger dudes who have much higher ceilings. They also have a top 15 OL coach who turned a 2 star OL into a 3rd round draft pick this past year. Would have been a 1-2nd rounder if teams weren't so heavily focused on QBs and skill positions.
The average OL size for KSU this year is 6'6" 300lbs. Very few teams can say they are that big across the line.
@@EngineeringUSAthe average line size in the B12 is 6’ 4.7” 311.8
@@EngineeringUSA "KSU lost 4 SIXTH year senior OLs but they're actually going to be better" is the dumbest take I've ever heard. Be better.
Thank goodness someone talked about every johnson not being able to throw.
But he competed in the Elite 11 and threw 74 TDs to 6 INTs in high school. As a Kansas fan I hate admitting it but the kid is really good.
Houston ahead of Colorado? No way. Colorado got some of their best players out of the transfer portal.
You guys are saying avery is better the mahlomes. He got 7 wins. Ksu lost 9 starters on offense and 6 on defense. Im amazed.
BYU ranked too high.
What no one is talking about in these ratings is the imbalanced schedules. It seems that across the board people have a you are what your record says.
KU only plays 2 teams projected (fandual odds) in the top half whereas ISU plays 7 (?). It was the flip side last year where WVU was the only team in the top half that KU didn’t play and WVU only played two (?). But ‘eers suddenly think they will fair as well when the majority of their opponents come from the top half.
2024 Schedule a significant factor.
Utah does not play K-State, Kansas, has Arizona home and UCF away for their last game. Their challenge @ OSU (09/21). Any QB Utah (1st or 2nd) should beat teams 5-16 on your list. UCF away maybe a challenge.
Arizona does not play Kansas, OSU, ISU, and K-State is non-conference game. Arizona loss at Utah is likely. Otherwise, Arizona only other potential loss verse your 5-16 teams is UCF.
So, Arizona 2 Loss Conference Season is likely. Enough to play in Big12 Championships?
AZ Offense portal pick ups includes Kendrick Reescano (No. 5 running back in his class). O-line returns 4 and added experienced portal beef.
Offense retains 75% of playbook & keeps play calling language per Head Coach Brennen and new OC Babers. Very wise. Almost seamless, but there’s improvements.
Improvements include bringing more TE into playbook, 2 set running backs, overall more looks than OC Jedd package. That’s the 25% playbook up grade. Jedd was HC/OC.
Last years Defense brains, Duane Akina. There’s no significant change for 2024. Should be improvement over last season with new coaches for linebacker, corners. Very good portal pickups on D-line.
We know more after week 3 @ K-State, then bye week followed by @ Utah.
I would have AZ as the favorite if their coach wouldn’t have left and taken 10 players with them. I don’t know enough about their roster to know how much of a factor that will be tho. I think the best 3 teams are WVU, Az, and KSt. I’m not all the way sold on Utah or Kansas, but both will be factors for sure. IaSt and OkSt also good, but won’t catch teams by surprise like they did last year. TCU and TxT will be much improved, certainly will factor in as well.
As a kstate fan I'm glad we're getting love...but wvu and Texas tech and isu will be in the mix unfortunately
The best team is Utah and Oklahoma State in the big 12 almost everyone is returning for Oklahoma State and they have about 7 to 10 guys or more going to the draft next year same with Utah they have cam rising an amazing defense and some good offensive weapons. Oklahoma State will go 10-2 beat Utah at home early then Utah will go 11-2 and take care of business against oklahoma state in a big 12 rematch and take the 4th spot in the college football playoffs and Oklahoma State will lose and go 10-3 and just miss the playoffs... You heard this first from me!!!
Rank wvu 14th again! Green is bad Jaheim white and CJ Donaldson is totally not the best RB duo in the conference!
The fact that everyone is disrespecting Ostate. Played in 2 of the last 3 conference championship games. How is Kansas picked above us and they havent done anything 🤦🏾♂️
Paul doesn't care for OKState. He's said so himself - he doesn't think they will win 8 games this season.
@@RT-iy9pu yea I seen that. I guess he’s just one of them people 🤷🏾♂️
Leipold has elevated Kansas every year he’s been there and they are bringing back all their starting playmakers for the third straight year. If Daniels stays healthy KU is primed to win the BIG 12.
That being said you can never count out Gundy.

@@cjboyer4355 I see the progress at KU but u have to do more then a few years to convince me that roster is better then Ostate and there gonna be in the conference championship game over us this season.
Chris Klieman has never been an O-Line position coach. He’s a DB and defensive coach. Connor Riley the OC is the O-Line guy…
Thanks Luke Fickle!
I definitely feel iowa state is underated, and this is a hawkeye fan saying that.
Just like the Hawkeyes the cyclones need to learn there are two sides to the ball not just defense before anyone considers them a threat.
The challenge for ISU is that I believe they have one of the most difficult schedules.
WVU ⬆️
I think we are rating some of the new schools to high it's difficult coming into a conference where teams are unfamiliar with each other. Remember Utah barely beat Baylor last year!!! The BIG12 isn't the princess paint your fingernails conference like the PAC12 was??????
beat the hell out of oklahoma in a bowl game last year? You mean almost getting beat by double digits until OU's rookie QB passed it to the other team inside the other teams 10 twice? Not to mention all the other bad turnovers. But at the end of the day, its a bowl game.
TCU bounce back year. The disrespect is real 🐸
Utah scored 7 points against Northwestern in the bowl game, but I suppose to believe they are a top tier program because an average QB is coming back.
You would actually have to do more research than looking at a Bowl game box score to second guess guys that do it for a living.
@@chucky0034 well I also know from the top of my head, outside of playing USC, they get handled quite easily when playing top 25 teams over the last 2 seasons. These are the same guys that said WVU was going to finish in last place last year and their coach was going to get fired. These guys are biased, they don’t do research, they look at stat sheets and star rankings and think they know teams. I suggest you watch Ricoknows if you want to learn about players and teams. These guys are looking at a schedule and they think it’s weak, that’s all they know, same reason media has Penn St and Missouri ranked so high, not because they are good, because their schedule is soft.
@joshuacolvin8988 Opinions are like chocolate starfish, and everyone has one. The only difference is that some get theirs bleached which I think effects their opinions.
@@chucky0034 You seem fascinated with that area, I think that’s a sign
@@JoKeer80I don’t totally disagree with you, but let’s be honest: almost everyone expected WVU to fall apart last year
K-State without Colin Klein as the OC at #1… you’re trippin
Colin Klein was a great OC, but lets not act like the plays he was calling were his own. He had Bill Snyders playbook lol. He was just responsible for calling the correct plays.
Guess what? Conor Riley and Matt Wells both have Bill Snyders playbook and can do just as well as CK did.
@@EngineeringUSA I hear you and that sounds great in theory.. but Colin Klein PLAYED in that system directly under Snyder. You can’t discredit his feel for the game as a former QB legend in that very system who developed into a top play-caller in the country. That experience is invaluable sir.
@@GWSosa You aren't wrong, and if we still had Will Howard as the QB this year with a new dual OC role, I'd be worried without Colin, but because of the threat we have with Avery Johnson, im much less worried. I'm in a way glad that Klein isn't here anymore because Avery Johnson isn't the biggest dude (weight wise) and I had a bad feeling that Colin would run him into the ground and get him injured. He isn't like Will Howard who is 6'5" and 250lbs.. Avery is a solid 6'3" 190-200 lbs.
I do miss Collin and truly hope he comes back one day to be the HC of his Alma Mater.
@@EngineeringUSA I agree and I do think CK will return home once Klieman is done. Im just a salty lifelong Pokes fan who wants that #1 spot. So excited for our new Big 12. See you in late September, my friend! Go Pokes🤠
@@GWSosa Oklahoma State and KSU are both one in the same my friend. I hate playing you guys because even when we are better, ya'll always beat us (except 2022 lol!)
But I'm pulling for both schools to show the newcomers who the top dogs in the conference are. EMAW!
Utah easily is the best team in the conference by far. Arizona is top 3 as well. If you genuinely don’t think a healthy Utah will run this conference you’re either being disingenuous or just dumb. I know you Big 12 fanboys don’t want to admit the new teams are the best in the conference now, but y’all need to face reality😂OKS and K-state are pretty good, but Utah and Arizona are still miles ahead of them
Cam Rising only played for two seasons as the Utes QB. He's the only QB for these teams who has actually won a conference title, and he won it both times. If he stays healthy, they'll win a third conference. They'll probably beat K State in the conference title game. Keep in mind that their schedule will allow them to be the top team in the B12 this year. It's the 800 pound gorilla in the room that you're pretending isn't there.
LMAO.... Gee, did BYU's Gerry Bohanon win the B12 Conference Championship with Baylor?

@@Phislammajamma4ever I hope they do, but I don’t think a team still transitioning to power conference football will be able to turn it around that quickly with one recruiting class and one portal class.
