    I found it isn't very loud on my USB 2.0 ports or pulling power from my smart phone via the USB OTG. For a loud experience I use my laptop plug 65watt USB-C and bluetooth connectivity. The audio quality isn't as natural sounding over Bluetooth, but it has more volume because of the power supply.

      Yes, but shoot for USB3.0 as this works best with at least 3amps of power. I found it isn't very loud on my USB 2.0 ports or pulling power from my smart phone via the USB OTG. I just got my Stage SE Mini and at low volumes on both Bluetooth and USB connection the sound sounds like a very low quality MP3 file - lot's of noise, compression and a crackling quality to the audio. It also has a bit of audible hiss. At certain volume the audio sot of "breaks through" and gets clear. Can't find any mentions of it online, but entirely unusable for low level listening in evenings/night. Others with similar problems? Faulty unit? Comments appreciated!

    These speakers are advertised as under monitor. Can you leave them on and connected and they will power on/off according to the state of the desktop? If not, that's one more thing to manipulate just to hear a sound. The 'dumb' aux based speakers were better, they just did what they were supposed to do.

    Hey, I'm thinking of buying this to connect to my PC using Bluetooth. Do you know if it stays powered on even if there is no sound? My current bluetooth speaker turns off after a while with no sound. I dont want this to happen with my PC sound as I often work for long periods with no sound until a zoom call.

    • @RaavMedia

      For Bluetooth it will stay connected as long as your PC in ON and the speaker is connected to a power source!
      Alternatively, if you use the cable to connect your PC, it will be ON as long as you PC is powered ON!

      Just to round this off. I ended up ordering this speaker and the Edifier G2000 speakers. I kept the G2000 and returned the Creative. The G2000 sounds a lot better, more full sound with more base, but more expensive. The Creative was a better fit for under monitor though. Both nice speakers.

    The only thing I'm finding weird is that the volume knob is a software volume knob, so it adjusts the windows audio level and the speaker just outputs at whatever strength Windows sends it. I am generally used to having my PC audio at max, and adjusting the volume manually on the speakers. I guess it doesn't matter, provided it can be loud enough. But at 100% volume it's not exactly "too loud", so seems a bit limiting.
    Also, the USB-c cable sticks out behind the speaker, so you can't have it pushed up against the wall

    • @RossDCurrie
      @RossDCurrie 4 месяца назад

      11 days into owning this and the software volume is definitely an issue. Sometimes I want it louder, and there's nothing I can do because (based on my very rudimental understanding of speakers) there's no physical amplifier in the device, which you would see in most desktop computer speakers.
      Otherwise, great piece of equipment and I know there are a few models in this range, and that this is the "mini", so if I was someone reading this comment I'd look at some of ther bigger models to see if they have bigger output or however speakers work

    • @JohnSmith-so4tm
      @JohnSmith-so4tm 4 месяца назад +1

      @@RossDCurrie I'm not sure if it's applicable to your case but I had the same problem with my Tronsmart T6 and Windows 11 wherein every time I adjust the physical volume of the speaker, it also adjusts the Windows master volume. Turns out it's because of Windows "Absolute Volume". After researching it, I was able to turn it off (registry editor) and the master pc volume and physical volume of my speakers are now independent of each other which resulted in louder volume.

    • @RossDCurrie
      @RossDCurrie 4 месяца назад

      @@JohnSmith-so4tm Interesting. I've tracked it down and set the appropriate registry flag. Not sure if USB audio counts as Bluetooth audio, but I don't see a corresponding flag so maybe it uses the Bluetooth stack somehow. Will reboot later and see if it works.
      I had another audio driver years ago that would let me put volume on certain apps above 100% in the windows volume mixer, so will probably look into that at some stage too.

      I found the speaker is louder if you can supply it with enough power. My USB 2.0 ports aren't as loud as my USB 3.2 ports because of the power limitations. Pretty loud for all the bigger the sound bar is.

    • @BenyaminLorit
      @BenyaminLorit 4 месяца назад +4

      That characteristic isn't just exclusive to this speaker. There a lot of these USB-based mini speakers that don't have analog capability because it's a digital interface and all the processing is done within the speaker. Besides, a type C to A adapter is so easy to find these days and there's no reason for it not to work.
