    Abstract:
    The presentation will briefly review the biological characteristics of the HPV virus and HPV-related cervical carcinogenesis. In the past decade, HPV testing and cervical cytology have become the routine clinically in screening cervical cancer and its precursors. The lecture will review the sensitivity and specificity of HPV testing and cervical cytology. Cytomorphological features of squamous dysplasias (LSIL and HSIL) will be briefly reviewed. The presentation will particularly emphasize the challenge of endocervical glandular abnormality and discuss the differential diagnoses of glandular lesions in cervical cytology
    About the Speaker:
    Dr. Bin Yang is a full Professor at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. He is specialized in Cytopathology and Gynecological Pathology. Dr. Yang received his M.D. at Zhengzhou University School of Medicine in 1983 in China and his Ph.D. in molecular cancer biology at Case Western Reserve University in 1996. He finished his pathology residency training at the Cleveland Clinic in 1999.
    He did his Fellowship in Surgical Pathology at Washington University in 2000 and Fellowship in Cytopathology at Johns Hopkins University in 2002. Dr. Yang was the Director of Molecular Cytopathology from 2008 -2015 and the Women?s Health Pathology Fellowship Director from 2016-2018. He is currently the Co-Director of ePathology/Digital Pathology and Medical Director of International Outreach at the Cleveland Clinic.
    Dr. Yang has shown keen research interest in identifying and applying biomarkers in early detection, risk assessment and prognosis in gynecological neoplasms. He has been an editor and co-editor in three books, eleven book chapters, and 90 scientific publications. He has actively participated in global cervical cancer screening programs in rural and low-resource regions in Asia and North and Central America.
