- Singapore has seen a boom in populations of otters and house crows in the last few years. These otters are excellent at catching food, but the crows have slightly more mischievous methods for sourcing their dinner.

On every continent, in every ocean, conquering frozen landscapes and searing deserts - mammals are everywhere. Sir David Attenborough reveals the ingenuity behind their success. The series also highlights many of the challenges facing mammals in a rapidly changing world and how they endeavour to overcome them.

It just amazes me that Singapore managed to restore/preserve their ecological balance so that otters can live in the water near the city. Can’t imagine the same in my city. It’s so unbelievably beautiful!
Otter don't survive just anywhere, they need a natural water source for food, they prefer fish or seafood, we have river and ocean otter here. Someone's pond with fish in it will do just fine too. The koi in Vancouver's Classical Chinese Garden were decimated by an otter that kept coming back, and that's right downtown in the city. The otter became known as "The Godf---otter"
That is really fun to watch, otters and crows living in harmony... Crows pulling tails and otters don't seem to mind it & casually left the fish carcass ... Real patience & hard work by the BBC EARTH team
I'm not sure I would call it harmony!
My 2 favorite animals in one video
I rly lucked out ❤
U like crows?
Where there's a tail, there's a puller!
😂
They are so adorable! 🥰
I love otters!
Me too!
Hell no
I wonder what the first time a baby otter goes into the water will be like
There's a clip of it in youtude
There are a few otter channels on youtube, cheifly Loutre, that feature baby otters. When the babies first get put in the water, even though they can touch bottom, they kind of freak out and peep a lot and try to get out of the water.
A curious thing is from a documentary of an keeper & a small cub. Time to bath was not so smooth as may be imagined. Hesitant, needed assured by his his surrogate mom at first. In the wild the similar thin would happen. With some encouragement, a bold one first, then sibling would follow.
Singapore is on my bucket list, both my brothers rave about it. 😊
LOVED visiting Singapore...from Africa ❤❤❤
💯💯
Silly cawcaw friends!
Singapore 🇸🇬
Otters are our real Singaporeans.
@@tangt4860😂🤣🤣
Singapore represent! ❤🤍
Unbelievable, amazing success in harmony! Where there's a will, there's a way. Hopefully, may my home country in Asia follow suit!
Singapore, never fail to amaze me❤
I'm in love. They are very cute. 🥰
Quit CROWING OFF😂😂
Aw that's so silly and cute 😊
This video should have much more views!
...Open to all things gastronomic 😂
Hahaha I'm just pullin your tail
Cute!
Thanks for meaningful and valuable video as always ❤❤❤
They are simply adorable and totally at home in Singapore. Have seen them wonder around the estate several times and came close to their pack in Sentosa to realise they can be quite fishy smelling. Until they ate the koi at a nearby church, did we realise how super rich the church was to even keep such expensive and costly pets. The same also happened to a much disliked unit in the neighbourhood😊😊 who kept infringing on public space by even building a fish pond outside his public housing unit -same fate to the fishes. That silly man actually complained to the local press and photos of his illegal structure and story came out in the MSM. Thanks to the otters for exposing such social malaise. Unknown to that resident, the otters actually came back to look for fish a few weeks after that during daytime. 😊
In Singapore, the largest predator is the Water Monitor Lizard that eats everything 🙂
Nope. There are river crocodiles.
Go Otters, get past the feathers and there's a good source of protein.
So cute ! I'm so fascinated by those cute otters . I gotta go chasing after them ~
Too cute
Always look forward to randomly see any of these guys in our waterways
Crows with a sense of humor😂😂😂! This great. Considering all the other things researchers have determined about the crow it just fits perfectly!
Amazing animals 😊
I have seen four little black birds (those with yellow beaks and white edge wings) pranking a monitor lizard the same way with no food involved on the floating platform in the same marina Bay Area during F1. It shows birds too like games, even if it involves a little danger
It's so funy how little the otters care
wonderful ❤
“Avian Marauders.” 😆😆😆
Very Informative.🎉 Spinal Nerve Checking
I once befriended a crow and it REALLY liked my shoelaces. We used to play tug of war with these and once I let it win it completely lost the interest, when I started to pull back again it vigorously started pulling back . Fascinating birds, they do like pulling and claiming things for themselves 😂
Real life ossawott❤
Thanks.
Crows are very very clever
Gelungenes Video. Gruss Jürgen 🤠
Narrator: “The otters have made the city their home”
It was their’s to begin with
😍😍
It doesn't say who the narrator is, but it sounds like Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery to me.
تبارك الله أحسن الخالقين.
Good for you
❤❤
❤
Não tem o vídeo só de ariranhas não criançada?
Commentator: Crows seem to have an instinctive understanding that pulling tails is an excellent distraction, and helps them swipe the otters' food.
Crows: WE ARE DINOSAURS WITH WINGS GET OUTTA OUR BOSS WAY SILLY NOOB FURSNAKES
👏
❤❤🇮🇳🇮🇳
Love the video, those otters are adorable! ❤We explore topics like Singapore's hidden gems too, swing by for more!
It have to be in their DNA because I see crows doing it to all kind of animals
They are trying to play and make friends! Like some do with wolves and become hunting buddies❤
Haha
its all cute and game until you realized the otters are on a civil war for territory across the river
Que lindas lontras!! Adoráveis ...mas os corvos estragaram a refeição, são incómodos!!
Antes del COVID, en Sentosa, los cuervos ya estaban haciendo daño a toda una familia de nutrias y había que ahuyentarlos.
Atleast Crows only pulling their tails, not making furr stuffs from their skin like Humans
The US has always had crows and ravens. I'm not sure if they are house crows. American Indian lore has crows in them. So they have been here for some time. Could have come over on the Mayflower as far as I know. 😊
Different species. Notice the brown patch on the back of the neck, unlike the carrion crow (European) and American crow which are all black. They certainly could have made it clearer in the video, though!
So cheeky crows everywhere pull on tails. Cats, dogs, other birds, and even otters are harassed by these intelligent birds, sometimes just for fun.
Crows and ravens have long graced the skies of the United States, their presence intertwined with the fabric of American landscapes. While I can't confirm if they're specifically house crows, they've certainly left their mark on American Indian lore, becoming symbols of wisdom, mystery, and cunning. Their ancient presence suggests they could have arrived on these shores as early as the Mayflower, their enigmatic flight tracing a history as rich and storied as the land itself.
These crows are an invasive species which came over from Malaysia. Over at Johor Bahru their population are out of control and squawking everywhere contributing much to the filth and uncleanliness of the place.
Hi
a lifetime ahead of getting your tail pulled!? i wish
No house crow did not hitch a ride...Singapore is not even half a mild away in sea from the main asia land mass as a crow flies! Yes the crow flies!
😍 - although I would prefer Sir David as the narrator. Hopefully we'll have an AI voice soon!
dinosaurs
Around 1:32 there is a brief shot of hooded crows, not house crows. Wrong species in this context.
Is this on Netflix?😭
It's not pranking; It's a strategy for stealing food.
" they'll even do it when there isn't food involved ... "
Dangerous animal even tigers do not attack when otters are in group .
Honey badgers of the east ?
Where is Sir. David? Is in unacceptable.
Love the video but is the loud music really necessary? It competes and sometimes wins against the soft spoken narrator.
Worried about Europe's seas...
?
@@sngray11 Why did BBCearth delete my comment? I was just pointing out something bad about the UK.
※ This is how trouble occurs, so it is wrong to just point it out and then erase the facts.
If you think it's wrong, then that's the ego of the BBC. I was just pointing out the facts. I made a normal comment like this, and it's immoral for an account that exists only for publicity and has no meaning to cause trouble and do as they please.
Moreover, the BBC is a national broadcaster, isn't it? If so, I think it is the media that should consider which is immoral.
Beautiful creatures too bad they live in the body of water. We decide to throw all of our garbage in the last documentary I saw them was talking about how many of them are getting sick because of the pollution in the water.
When, oh, when, are the producers of this and other wonderful programs, going to listen to their older and deafer audience and reduce the volume of the mood music while someone is speaking???????? We, who love watching these programs CAN'T HEAR THE DIALOGUE!!!! Myself and a lot of other viewers have been saying this in our comments now for a few years, but it seems that our cries are falling on DEAFER EARS THAN OUR OWN!!!!! This trend is so bad now that I don't even try to watch any of the new productions and go and look for the older and more sensibly produced programs.
People with good hearing just don't understand the problem.
Terrible audio mixing.
The narration is weak sounding and often drowned out by the music.
Also, the music is overly patronising.
Cheeky Crows Prank Baby Otters | The Making of Mammals | BBC Earth. 10.4.24. those three otters are called: Stupid, Ugly, Face...
go vegan for a life 💕
I am sick of these otters and crows in singapore! Anyone please help yourself with these pests😢
You must have lost your beloved kois to them condolences.
I think the crows pull the tales of the otters because they think it’s a worm
Crows pull the tail feathers of larger birds too to annoy them .
Now , u might wanna update ur thesis !
0:36 tourist attractions? nah... there are few cases where otters chasing or attack people for no reason 😏
They're like big, smart, annoying houseflies
Singapore 🇸🇬
❤❤
