When I saw masha, I was “okay, she will betray, but it does not say whom. That will be a plot twist”. Oh my poor imagination, There is not only one twist, but TONS of plot twists.
I just love her straight-man reactions and hand movements. She even had the same reactions as the characters multiple time. Love to see Salome Ojou-sama having so much fun! xD That plot twist lol. Masha Betrayin' is the best girl! The ending is so bittersweet, glad that it has a really nice story
I love how the plot starts out as a comedic parody, but by the end it becomes a mostly serious JRPG story. It's amazing how the games subtitle goes from a silly joke to a genuine reveal by the end of the game, after most players had probably forgotten about it. The way the spoiler subverions slowly escalate is also really well-written.
this game is the epitome of "someone does not notice he is being fool since he is busy laughing at the fool" or "knowing the future can leads to bad decisions, just like Odin". Such a great game.

I wouldn't say the story was good. It was super generic. What elevates this game is that it plays with your expectations from the spoilers it gives. Without the spoilers this would be a by the numbers generic JRPG plot.

The only thing it has going for it are a couple of gags based on false expecations, but if you go past the gags, it's really nothing special at all. Even the jokes are sometimes painfully repetitive, badly executed and just plain obvious. "His name is No Friends, so let's make him say he has a 100 friends and everyone say how he must be lucky to have so many friends" is barely even comedy. Then there is the premise of subverting spoilers and how half the game doesn't do it. It's way too inconsistent. Why are some spoilers as obvious as they seem and some are misleading? And then even some subversions aren't even good. No Friend becomes Hero because he lied about his name. So you had no way of guessing the twist. That's not clever, that's just changing the script midway. What I'm saying is, the actual plot of the game? Generic. The jokes? Basic. The twists? Inconsistent or badly telegraphed. If you consider this game to have a good story you most likely are just easily dazzled.
When I saw Masha's name as betrayer towards the end I personally assumed that she was the true villain. Right after the king died is when I found her to be suspicious. Up until we started to read the notes from the queen then I began suspecting the true villain was her.

Both Japanese and English are not my mother tongue, and naturally I have a quiet interest on translation. And your work here is so impressive. There is a korean version too, and that is relatively easier take because east asians share some words from kanji(especially kuro黒maku幕. In korean, this is hook黒-mak幕, so it is easy to slide toward hook-mark). I appreciate your clip and devotion toward translation! P.s. what can I come up with King kuroma-ku is King remarkably shady. But it is still not black lol
