- Here are all the cutscenes for Sonic Lost World in English.
Sonic the Hedgehog and his friend Tails pursue Doctor Eggman, who has captured several of their animal friends with the intention of using them to power his robot army.While the two attempt to retrieve a falling capsule filled with animals, Eggman shoots down Tails' plane. However, they end up discovering a world in the sky known as the Lost Hex, and crash land there. Entering the Windy Hill Zone, Sonic and Tails makes their way through clouds and the grassy fields. The duo then discover that Eggman has enlisted the help of a group of the world's indigenous Zeti race, collectively known as the Deadly Six, using a magical conch to keep them under his command. However, when Sonic rushes in and kicks the conch away, the Deadly Six rebel against Eggman and take control of his Badnik army. They then start to use one of Eggman's machines to siphon energy from Sonic's world below, planning to drain all of its life force until there is nothing left and use it to power themselves up. Reluctantly, Sonic agrees to work with Eggman, believing that he needs his help to stop the machine, though this seems to cause some distrust between him and Tails.
As Sonic battles his way throughout the Lost Hex, the Deadly Six concoct a plan to capture Sonic and turn him into a robot under their control, but they end up accidentally capturing Tails instead. After Eggman fakes his death, Sonic comes across the Deadly Six as they prepare to use the roboticized Tails against him. However, prior to the conversion, Tails managed to reprogram the process to retain his free will and instead helps Sonic to defeat them. Upon reaching the machine and finding it switched off, Eggman reappears and attempts to use the energy harvested to power his latest giant mech. Upon defeating Eggman, Sonic and Tails return the stolen energy to the world below and return home. In the post-credits cutscene, Eggman was shown to have survived his fall by landing on a soft spot of dirt, and is dug out by his servants Orbot and Cubot.

The story here is so needlessly dark and cheesy that I can't help but love it, it's hilarious in every unintentional way.
The story is probably darker than the rest of the games. However, the stories in Archie and IDW comics are even darker.

As many have said Eggman has a loyalty to his allies, but he also respects Tails a lot. Tails is a fellow genius, naive but still a genius, probably reminds him of himself at that age.

Eggman is so different from most villains. He’s cold hearted and evil to the point of where he tries to roboticize and conquer the world, but I get the feeling he genuinely does care for Sonic and the gang at least a little bit. In Sonic X for example, he gently talks Tails through his grief before Tails has to kill Cosmo. I feel like in an alternate universe, Eggman is pals with Sonic and co. haha
It was at this moment that Sonic knew, he messed up.

Eggman can literally stop the machine by himself, he can run as fast as sonic, can punch as hard as knuckles, and he can fly with the egg-o-magic.

I really liked Eggman's character development in this. It showed there was more to him than just "MUAHAHA EVIL GENIUS SCIENTIST WANTS TO CONQUER THE WORLD WITH ROBOTS!!!" He does have an actual human side. We saw glimpses of it in Sonic Adventure 2, and here in Lost World we get to take a peek beneath his perpetual shell of rage and evil. Eggman not only speaks nobly of Tails after he gets trapped, and encourages Sonic, but he literally saves the lives of both Tails and Sonic at different points. And it's not just the human decency either, his human emotions also make a brief appearance. Eggman is normally angry, but that anger is his baseline state: cold, calculated, somewhat controlled. Here the Zeti takeover enrages him so much he actually loses his cool and the rage and malice he shows are obviously an emotional response.
And then the writers erased ALL OF THAT by having him double-cross them in the end!!! ...Well, almost. You could argue that everything mentioned above was just acting, but I like to think maybe Eggman actually let his guard down around Sonic and Tails, just a little.
Eggman betrayed Sonic and Tails was just an excuse for Tails' arrogance.

Honestly, it's not the last time Eggman has suggested some major respect for Tails. In the IDW Comics, the Bad Guys mini-series, Dr. Starline is trying to frame Sonic for his raids on Eggman bases, and when the idea of the technical glitches and incomplete security footage being Tails' doing was suggested, he shoots it down, not even calling him Tails. "Prower wouldn't be this sloppy." Between this, and some later comments, it really gives the idea that Eggman does have some really major respect for Tails, but simply doesn't like to publicly acknowledge the skills of his enemies until after he's beaten them.
When he's on the back foot after losing control of the Zeti, I think his moments of letting his guard down around Sonic & Tails are genuine. It's just... Eggman will be Eggman, and once he has his chance to take control again and get back on his Scheme Scene, he jumps fully back into Performance Mode.
From the dialogue to the sound effects-- it's clear this was game's creators were going for comedy: and the team nailed it!

The characters feel a lot more in their own skin. Sonic being impatient down to being impulsive and knuckles being less dumb dumb and also seeing sonic as irresponsible and reckless aligns with what i love about them the most.
So Sonic being an unlikeable asshole is better than his hot-blooded and impetuous but pure-hearted self he was in 2000s (and is in Frontiers)? Lol.

Its been 7 years and I'm still wondering where Eggman's ARK gun went after the opening. It might've been useful against some cardboard cut-out villains...
It appeared again in Shadow the Hedgehog, but that was probably the last game that took place in the adventure storyline, and never appeared again (maybe in sonic colors or something)

The thing that sucks about having Tails save himself from what happens is we miss out on having an interesting boss fight. This game marks twice where Sonic having to fight and survive against Tails while trying to save him as an opportunity lost.
And an opportunity for a dark sonic comeback too.

I unironically find this story good and fun,and out of context this story is incredibly dark,sonic and tails are stranded on an unknown planetoid and Sonic’s friends are at risk as he’s threatened that his world will be gone and his friends,but overall? I find it fun! I love the colors,the six steal the show for me,I like sonic’s characterization here more than forces for how we see multiple sides of him,we see him not just be cocky but also sad,angry,scared and confused at times,the stories about a spiritual quest that the three under go,sonic learning how to rebuild his trust and to be patient and think when fighting,tails learning to regain his confidence and not to be a jerk and eggman to not mess with the zeti or ancient creatures,also this might be one of the best cutscenes for the amount of camera angles,different scenes,comedy and cinematography,especially when sonic is alone and is just taking in the moment as the wind blows with a baritone piano setting the mood,making it feel more like a movie! This is my favorite sonic game and I’m not afraid to hide it❤

Idk why people give sonic lost world so much flack. I think it gave the characters a lot more in depth emotions that we don't usually see. I found it really refreshing. Albeit, the gameplay is not my cup of tea, the story plot was nice

I always liked certain plot points of this games story, but sometimes the tone still feels like it’s leaning more in comedy or it doesn’t spend *just* enough time lingering on darker tones. The further along Pontac and Graff wrote for Sonic games, the less and less they cared about handling darker themes.

This story isn’t dramatic at all it’s actually laughable...if you want a good sonic story i recommend watching SA2’s cutscenes or even black knight 👍🏾
