Wow, I had to watch this twice! You have "the touch" for story telling, it is a natural gift from God. Well done, and great story that was not predictable. Big thumbs up. I really enjoy watching your videos.
I honestly didn't know where this was going, but then suddenly you hit me in the face with the plot-twist and I geniually started tearing up a little inside. And then out of no-where you came with a second plot-twist and I just had to shead a tear. Eskild, this was really good! It could have been part of a campaign against drunk driving or something. Thanks for uploading. :)
Yeah, I was very nervous when publishing this, and was afraid that people wouldn't like it or understand it. So I'm really glad to read comments such as this =)
I caught on to them not really being there early, it was a good twist!..but it just makes me wish you were still here to make great content. I just found you, I wish I could go back in time and help encourage you 💖
That was AWESOME Eskild! It honestly moved me to tears man, resulting in having to watch it twice! I went with it so the tag I didn't see coming. Holding that shot on yourself from 05:06 was too much to take. Beautifully shot (kudos to your friend Anders too), production values both visually and audio mix with 'less is more', together with dialogue so graciously delivered came together SO well. Only question is why did it take you so long to share this with the world? Yes, it was exposing yourself more on camera, but to me anyways you have shown yourself to be a gifted actor, so natural. As a long time subscriber, thanks for placing this piece of work for us all to see. Honestly dude, superb job! (Enter it in a short film festival!) (I'm sharing this everywhere... people in my industry need to see this.)
That's truly inspiring to hear! I was honestly very nervous before uploading this, and wasn't sure how people were gonna react. So I'm very relieved you like it =)
The plot, the settings, the combination of realism and mental infinity... it has all the characteristics of a masterpiece! I give you my honest congratulations from Barcelona. The end was totally unpredictable as long as I am concerned, I didn't expect it at all and it really shocked me deep inside. By the way, the acoustics are brilliant. I wonder how you can record sounds with that quality, it is admirable. Moreover, the four actors, including you of course, have great skills. Good job must always be congratulated. PD: I subscribed to your channel, I enjoy very much your productions!
This is very original and very pleasant to watch like all your short films. That was better than many big movies on the big screen. Keep doing what you are doing! I was again impressed. I liked the plot a lot and the double twist was 😱😱😱😱!
Nice to see what you can do. Really liked the acting would be nice if you could make more films like this really inspiring. Liked the acting of the older man too very natural.
Joseph Bergeon Thank you! I will definitely continue. Making short films are what I enjoy doing most as a filmmaker. Alas, it's very time consuming, so I can't produce them as often. But reading comments such as yours is really inspiring =)
Great job! I lost my grandpa a couple of months ago and sometimes experience the same. You got this nice on film. I am proud of you that you are so good in acting and telling a real story at the same time . Thank you!
Jeez, I get inspired every time I watch one of your videos. But I must remind you of the guy I came across 2 years ago doing your thing, but with blackmagic cameras and now he has a film called lights out in theaters. This reminded me of that, and the dream that should never die which is to always keep creating.
i am new to ur channel but seriously that was a really good attempt with those basic camera stuffs. videos made by u and andyax are really inspiring and helpful. waiting for more short films and videos just like this. all the best.
I was about to neat pick about certain technicalities... but the film was so beautiful overall that my emotions overpowered any criticism I had. Great job.
Thank you for your honest feedback. I made this film many years ago, and I agree that there are certain technicalities, which I would have done differently today. But, I'm glad you still liked it =)
Wow Eskild this is absolutely amazing! You did a great job. When you said "Jonas is dead" I was like "wow, i didn't expect that" and then the ending! This is a masterpiece. Oh and you are an amazing actor! Keep up the good work! You have fans from holland!
I'm from Germany and i'm really inspired of your film especially because it was made with a 550d and one lens !!! :)You're acting skills are also good but one question does the 24-70mm L-lens really work with the 550d or did you use an adapter? Keep up the good work
How did you/Anders do the eye close up with the reflection of "your father and brother" without getting any reflection if the camera, if that did make any sense…
Having been proceeded in my philosophical development from Kant to Kierkegaard, and recently to Lev Shestov, I definitely welcome this kind of existential bravery. "All things are possible" - for God who, standing above the ultimative imperatives of reason, is even able to undone that which is done. But in everyday life, tragically, many care about the living ones less, than some rare, noble souls (whatever "deranged" in their love) - about the departed.
@Eskild - nearly busted out in tears on this one. Having lost a son, it was close to home. Really well done, great story line and for one that is real to many. thanks for making this and inspiring us.. Sill have SO much to learn. Question for you, with this push to 4k - should one start shooting now? Or just make great films and documentaries with what you have?
First of all, thank you so much! That's inspiring to hear. I feel really humbled of the positive feedback of this film! Second, that's a good question - there's no clear answer - but if I were to buy a new camera today, it would definitely be one with 4k capabilities. Five years ago, 4k was something an amateur film maker could only dream of, and the closest thing you could get was the Red One, which cost like $25000. 4k is a major upgrade in resolution, kinda like when we went from SD to HD. And modern cameras like a7s II and GH4 are able to produce some really beautiful 4k images. Even the relatively cheap Sony a6300 looks great! 4k is also a lot closer to film stock than HD, plus 4k is more future proof. All that being said, I still mostly "only" shoot in 1080p, and I'm not going to upgrade very soon I think. Mostly because the films I make, doesn't really require 4k. So all in all, it's really up to you: Do you really need 4k? Better resolution doesn't necessarily give better quality. Good lighting, dynamic range, focal length etc. also have a major impact on the overall quality. And the most important aspect will always be the storytelling. Although this was no clear answer, I hope this was helpful =)
Fantastisk kortfilm!
This was fantastic! I l thought that the little signs like him dropping the cup all added up to them really not being there! Great job!
DSM Studios Thank you, I'm glad you appreciate that detail =)

Really wished more youtubers focused more on story than visual like what you have done here. This was really good. Everything wraps well at the end.
Yeah, I was very nervous when publishing this, and was afraid that people wouldn't like it or understand it. So I'm really glad to read comments such as this =)
That ending was very unpredictable, brilliant job
I caught on to them not really being there early, it was a good twist!..but it just makes me wish you were still here to make great content. I just found you, I wish I could go back in time and help encourage you 💖
Wow this is truly amazing, very emotional and powerful short. Just started watching your videos, keep it up!
Touching film! Thank you, Eskild, for sharing it with us!

Oh my stars! So much potential packed in several minutes! Absolutely marvelous.
Nice to see what you can do. Really liked the acting would be nice if you could make more films like this really inspiring. Liked the acting of the older man too very natural.
That's inspiring to hear =)
I'm impressed. I would continue to explore this side of your creativity.

This is a really great film !! Your acting really puts me in the scene and mood, and made me cried like a little girl in the end.
Very touching and emotional short film. I loved it!

+Luc Flèddérus Thank you very much! That's inspiring to hear =)
Omigosh! Did you write this yourself???! I was all watery eyed! You did great with this short! Hope to see you do more!
Thank you, that's inspiring to hear! I wrote the story, but there was also a lot of improvisation - I feel that makes it more real =)
👏👍
Jennifer Oakes RIP Eskil Fors :( He committed suicide last year unfortunately. I hope you found the peace you were looking for, man.
That's very sad to hear. I thought he was very funny, outgoing and handsome too. :(
I can definitely see you in a Sci-Fi movie! :)
Jeez, I get inspired every time I watch one of your videos.
But I must remind you of the guy I came across 2 years ago doing your thing, but with blackmagic cameras and now he has a film called lights out in theaters. This reminded me of that, and the dream that should never die which is to always keep creating.
Yeah, I remember watching his short film a few years ago. And yes, always keep creating =)
***** amazing acting!! I've been watching for a couple of days and I LOVE this channel! keep up the awesome work:)
Wow! That had such a crazy twist at the end! Incredible video Eskild!! :D
I'm glad you like it!
Eskild, this short film has a very GOOD story line which is so sad..I LOVE this short! Thank you for entertaining me.
i am new to ur channel but seriously that was a really good attempt with those basic camera stuffs. videos made by u and andyax are really inspiring and helpful. waiting for more short films and videos just like this. all the best.

Breathtaking till the last minute! Beautiful done!
I was about to neat pick about certain technicalities... but the film was so beautiful overall that my emotions overpowered any criticism I had. Great job.
Thank you for your honest feedback. I made this film many years ago, and I agree that there are certain technicalities, which I would have done differently today. But, I'm glad you still liked it =)
Fantastic! Directors always make good actors.
That was nice. Thank you for the actors.
Wow Eskild this is absolutely amazing! You did a great job. When you said "Jonas is dead" I was like "wow, i didn't expect that" and then the ending! This is a masterpiece. Oh and you are an amazing actor! Keep up the good work! You have fans from holland!
Erik&Luna Thank you very much! That's really inspiring to hear =)
Visuals were good, plot was good and what I often don't see in short films is good acting which was there. I liked it :D
This was great! You do some very good acting and great work... I wish I had your talents..
Real nice drama here! Good twist! Nice shots, very nice
Nice work!!!amazing acting and screenplay
very nice. i like the way u framed, grading, acting and story-line for the short. LIKE
Great job, Eskild. Never mind the gear - content is king. Kudos for rather fine acting :-)
I'm from Germany and i'm really inspired of your film especially because it was made with a 550d and one lens !!! :)You're acting skills are also good but one question does the 24-70mm L-lens really work with the 550d or did you use an adapter?
Keep up the good work
Thank you! The 24-70mm works perfectly with the 550D, no adapter needed =)
Excellent film, and it seemed so real. I hope you do more work like this!
Eskild died from suicide in 2017. Behind his smiling face, he suffered from deep depression.
well done! and you are pretty good at acting!
Wow, this was beautiful. Major fan of you and Andy too, you guys do so much good work!
Thank you =)
omfg... that was the best 7 minutes I spent in last time... it was so well made :o

How did you/Anders do the eye close up with the reflection of "your father and brother" without getting any reflection if the camera, if that did make any sense…
After Effects ;)

Good work man, I can only agree with all the other comments
This was just amazing... and so sad! It had a strong meaning though!
Nice work, what mics did you use?
+TENLINES Thank you! We used the Røde NTG-3 =)

(And there is a noticable interlingual play of words: etter - "after" - eternity.)
I shed a tear...really nicely done...ur pretty talented
Best wishes from Germany. You make fantastic works!
Brilliant! Very poignant and concise.
Du er en meget dygtig "forfatter" (jeg ved ikke rigtig, hvad jeg ellers skulle kalde det) og skuespiller. Din kortfilm fangede mig virkelig. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Great work! Very moving.
Really nice short Eskild.
Good script, good shot, good audio = really good job ! :)

Holy crap man! That is a great work! Are you a director or something?
I wouldn't consider myself a professional director - but a enthusiastic film-maker, with a sense for somewhat different films =)
Amazing work
Excellent acting!
