as someone who casually follows fashion, I really enjoy your videos because you explain everything really well and make it short and easy to understand. thank you for that 💗
Minimalism is my style aesthetic. That’s why I loved Tom Ford Gucci years. The Row, Céline (Philo knows how women want to feel and look like) and 90s Prada and Jil Sander (that’s why I shop at vintage shops to find some great 90s JS and Prada pieces) are my favorites.
I laughed when you called out Anna Wintour and the fashion critics "because in the past we kinda ran shit." It's kind of sad to see icons of the past losing their touch. People are exhausted with the Instamodels, yet the old figures in the industry keep pushing them forwards as though they're embracing the past in a new way. Instead of focusing on what you think the generation likes, how about you turn your attention to the things that they're really focusing on? I.e., making campaigns more inclusive and racially diverse. Breaking the gender barriers between certain garments and blurring the spectrum overall. I could go on...
loved that short yet educative and super interesting format. really teaches us how fashion really works, its history, etc.. keep up the good work honey
it might be late to reply, but anyhow. i can recommend a documentary film 'Dior and I', 'the next black', also a youtube channel 'the ultimate fashion history', which does fashion history series and much more. if you want some fashion related movies, 'yves saint laurent' 2014 and 'coco before chanel'
love this video! your eyebrows look amazing and gucci is my top favorite along side miu miu i have these mary jane pumps with spikes and a lion from gucci everyone stops me when i wear them they're iconic and i dont think they will ever leave my wardrobe
What's it like studying fashion/how has it changed your perspective on the industry? and would you consider doing lookbook/style videos again? Also have fun in London! Ur videos are always super informative and interesting to watch
I never cared for Gucci until Alessandro Michele. It’s like a child has been given the wardrobe of David Bowie’s eccentric grandmother and I’m loving every second of it. There’s so much color and print to be inspired by and styling and embellishments are just everything. I really don’t care if he does the same shit for 10 years I love it.
You look amazing, your eyebrows look amazing and I'm so excited for you to join us over in London - you've definitely got to make a few videos about the fashion culture here from your perspective! LOVE your videos - I really appreciate good, coherent conversation about fashion, hoping we can normalise this!!!
Its also because they became a new money brand and made their clothes more attractive to the younger generation, which is become richer. Also making styles that fit the Chinese's customs since they have new billionaires and millionaires every second.
What's your biggest tip about moving to manhattan and getting a job in the fashion industry? I am graduating next May and the thought of moving to New York is just a lot to me.
QnA question: What's your favorite luxury brand for clothing. And what's your favorite luxury clothing brand for accessories (i.e. Bags, sunglasses, jewelry etc..)
I was going to say...I lived in London for 2 years in the early 80's and fashion was maxed out, for real. I loved living there, brilliant for fashion, music, art, men...you should have a blast!
It doesn't matter the aesthetic choices, it's either "worth it" or not. If you are wearing well tailored clothes, not matter the style you will get noticed and you will buy more. This is why every time someone tries: oh, let's deconstruct, let's make it cheap, let's make it non-design IT FAILS. BECAUSE THOSE ARE BASICS. You go to Gap for that. If you're buying from a luxury brand, you want luxury. PERIOD. And one thing around all these Gucci things is that they are actually well made, it's not a total crap fest like Prada or D&G.
When Gucci first came out with Alessandro, I was like - this is the shit the new generation will buy for many years. They looked so dreamy and pretty, it's hard to say its not Gucci. They're the it brand as long as Alessandro is there.
Awesome, you're going to London. I am looking to go abroad soon but can't find anything Fashion related to do besides studying abroad. What are your plans in London?
where did you get the clips of the Gucci hip hop party? Looked really cool like old school 80's hip hop with everyone weraing gucci. what year was that promo material from? Thanks
the rolls that the fashion gives to be legitimized are well explained in the film about Ana. a brand becomes fashion when it is copyed. real value is discontextualized and the only thing that goes to be valored is the icon: stripes and colors. never can make chanel. gucci now comes made in china. gano gucci. i lov your videos, Luke :*
This aged in a good and bad way at the same time. Pretty amazed he lasted this long doing the same thing in a way. Def changed the winds back into favoring maximalism and “purposeful tackiness.”
Watching this vid on my dinner break @work feeling so faSHUN educated then you announce you're moving to my city? YES pls hello come thru 👏🏼 ps. Hope you've chosen north east London as ur area cos that's where street style is on🔥💯💃🏻 (imo)
Isabella Simpson that's a lie!! south London is creeping up on all your mofos now with your underground lines and close proximity to everything else lol
Great, fun, informative POV. Why London? English speaking, gateway to Paris, boyfriend? All of the above? I like the way you playfully take the air out things. Are you going to design school?
i absolutely love your channel, have discovered it few days ago, and can just say that it is truly unique and amazing. i was wondering if you know the name of the music (violin) at the very beginning of the video.
What are things that you expect from fashion in the future?(like trends) and what approach do you expect future designers (generation z and millennials) to take towards social issues
abcdefg there are literally so many other social issues than men and women being equal. There's lgbtqia issues, trans issues, black lives matter, global warming, minimum wage etc. And making a huge profit off of fake woke white feminists won't help anyone.
Sasha Quamie well most fashionable people wont want any political stuff on their clothing except advocates of all that fake woke shit. can you imagine saint laurent with some kind of global warming shirt? then there is all those brands by young black people with the blm stuff, but they are nobodys and charge 300 for pants. they totally miss their target audience. we will stick to european luxury for the foreseeable future
Wait ... back in the 90s? Galliano AND McQueen? What about Christian fuckin Lacroix? What about japanese streetstyle (decora et al) What about this period in history called baroque/rococo which pretty much invented maximalism?
can u pleassssssseeeeee give more views of yours on the Dior by Maria Grazia ? do u watch any fashion youtubers like Drew Scott etc ? do u think Chanel should do full menswear collections and do u think itll be any good ?
as someone who casually follows fashion, I really enjoy your videos because you explain everything really well and make it short and easy to understand. thank you for that 💗

Question: Do you have a list of good documentaries on fashion. I really wish to get deeper into the history of fashion.
it might be late to reply, but anyhow. i can recommend a documentary film 'Dior and I', 'the next black', also a youtube channel 'the ultimate fashion history', which does fashion history series and much more. if you want some fashion related movies, 'yves saint laurent' 2014 and 'coco before chanel'

My question for the q&a: Thoughts on Hermès for ready to wear... thoughts on the brand beyond leather goods?
London is the best place to live ever, I live there and the mentalities are so chill and it's good. Are you going to stay there for a while?
I just think of BST and DNA iconic looks...2:50 Namjoon's slippers 5:20 Jimin's jacket
Gucci is currently successful because of its amazing marketing campaign. That's it.
What's your biggest tip about moving to manhattan and getting a job in the fashion industry? I am graduating next May and the thought of moving to New York is just a lot to me.
I'd love to hear your take on the current streetwear giants (eg, Supreme, Bathing Ape, etc.).
QnA question: What's your favorite luxury brand for clothing. And what's your favorite luxury clothing brand for accessories (i.e. Bags, sunglasses, jewelry etc..)
I loved this, I love YOU. When are you moving to London? Cause meeting you here by chance would be a dream
Great as per usual 👏🏾so instructive 🥳
maximalism in fashion actually started in the 80s because of the economic boom the world experienced at that time
I was going to say...I lived in London for 2 years in the early 80's and fashion was maxed out, for real. I loved living there, brilliant for fashion, music, art, men...you should have a blast!
aaaand along came the crisis
I love the way you told that story.
Love your hair, love the vid!
