@jrd476 yes it is 2007 model.It should work with 2006 as well, but I am not sure. If no longer want to monitor your temp just kill the engine and switch off ignition.
great video, just wondering iff you swich the engine off and back on will it still show up on the computer and can you still scroll through the trip computer
Hmm let me get this straight ,on a hot day when I smell smoke and see flames from the hood all I have to do is scroll through a hundred menus to get the engine temp , at least ill know how many miles per gallon i got before she burnt up , Great job BMW

I tried many times to check the engine temperature on my bmw e60 525d, 2005.and I tried like u did same but it dosnt show the temperature so this is my vin number cr27404 and I would like to know how many time I have to press this vin number coz I do not have idea how many times I need to press so I would like that u help me on this problem! thank you
It's a bit crap the E60 not having an engine temp gauge. They've also done away with the interior boot release and glovebox torch. I'm really dissapointed with E60 [ 530i ]; so much so, I bought an E39 M5 last week. :-)
there are many bmws that also have a gauge for the engine temperature, just a few don´t have it. btw there are lots of other cars that don´t have one, it´s not just bmw....

round the town, yes.On motorway I can do 55 mpg and longer journey 45 mpg

in facelift models it doesnt move mate, plus it is not temperature gage, but security against reving engine to much ;)

no it doesn't, this is face lift model and it doesn't work this way

a warm coolant temperature doesn´t mean that the oil is warm and that the oilpressure is build. those two oilfacts are more important.

the thermostat is the red portion that lines up with the 5RPM's dial... that's why there are three dashes....
