Sabaton has a dedicated channel called Sabaton History. American Historian Indy Neidell co-hosts with members of the Band and discuss the history that is behind each song.

If you're curious, Sabaton are in fact a historically based band. Mostly warfare, but they cover other topics occasionally too.
Also Joakim (the vocalist) said in one show something along the lines of "we look like the village people in camo pants" so yeah, it's their thing.

Yes, Sabaton writes about war and epic battles and horrible chapters in our history, but they do it with class and respect for the history. They are world class story tellers and often tell stories of war from different perspectives. Being an American, I only learned about war from an American perspective so I was intrigued when I learned about WWII from the German perspective with the song Hearts of Iron and Ghost Division and Wehrmacht and Rise of Evil or from the Polish perspective with the songs Uprising, 40:1, and Prisoner 4859, or from the Russian perspective with songs like Stalingrad, Panzerkampf, and Attero Dominatus. I learned about Simo Haya and Lauri Allen Tourni who were Finnish hero’s and I never knew of the Winter War before I knew Sabaton. And I have only scratched the surface of their large catalog of historical events. This band has re-ignited my love of history. The songs and stories are all there for you to learn and expand your knowledge of history. Thank God for this band!

If your interest in history is re-ignited I'd really suggest checking out Dan Carlin. He does amazing series of basically books on tape, but better and more entertaining about different events or periods in history, called Hardcore History. He has a few available on his RUclips channel for free, including a great WWI series called Blueprint for Armageddon. The rest are available on his website or itunes.

All of Sabaton's songs are based on historical battles and war. A really good example would be "To Hell and Back," which features the story of Audie Murphy. Quote from Wiki: Audie Leon Murphy was one of the most decorated American combat soldiers of World War II. He received every military combat award for valor available from the U.S. Army, as well as French and Belgian awards for heroism." I highly recommend giving this a listen.

Q*bert nearly all of their catalogue to date is military history themed in nature. The one exception is their album "Metalyzer." It has a fair bit of experimentation and a wide variety of subject matter. The number of tribute songs to heavy metal or specific bands, there's one song about the Nazgul from The Lord of the Rings, and there's one song about the death of Rock and roll to pop music disguised as the death of Norse mythology and religion at the hands of Christianity.

Sabaton are definitely all about history. Mostly military history, but they did do an entire album about Charles XII (Carolus Rex), though granted he was involved in a good deal of war. They've even started a RUclips channel where they talk about the history behind some of their songs.
If graphic representations of warfare in a video are troublesome, you might want to skip their latest song, Fields of Verdun. That one gets pretty intense. Good song, but the video's definitely more grounded in the horrors of war than Bismarck was (which was pretty good).
As for how this video was done, it's funny you mention video games, as they partnered with World of Warships, an online game where people fight in teams of warships (hence the name). The in-game graphics are nice, but this was a whole other level of CGI.

Can you please please please do an amaranthe tune or three? Amaranthe is amazing and unique and you may not love them but you'll at least be fascinated by them. I recommend: Burn with me, Dream, Limitless, Endlessly, True, That song, Digital world, and the nexus as possible first selections.

Just discovered your videos last night and after seeing the joy Rime of the Ancient Mariner brought Kel, I had to subscribe. Since then I have been watching your other videos. One that really brought back memories for me was your Stryper reaction. They were from the city not far from where I grew up, so they were local legends. I always loved their dual guitar attack. And that brings me to a band suggestion: Litzy Borden. Anything off the Give Em The Ax, Love You To Pieces, or Murderous Metal Roadshow albums. If I had to pick a single song it would be American Metal.
I also want to thank you for introducing me to Sabaton. I’d never heard of them before this video. Loved em. Looking forward to more videos!

Ok. I have been watching on my Xbox or PlayStation, so I couldn’t read the description. Here is my proper hash tag request
#Lizzy Borden Psychopath Harrison, AR m.ruclips.net/video/4MNTnZ-zUQs/видео.html
I first heard this song in 1985 at age 15 at a girlfriends house. My best friend and I went over to this girls house. Her parents were gone for the weekend and she had invited 2 girls to come stay with her. So my girlfriend and 2 other girls. My best friend got together with one of the girls and the third girl invited her boyfriend over. He was a little older than us, 17 or 18....and he brought the cassette Lizzy Borden “Love You To Pieces.”
We drank some beer and listened to the tape ALL night long. As a drummer I was captivated by the rhythms and sat playing air drums learning the songs. Yes, I had a pair of drumsticks with me like usual! The next day I bought the album and cassette and it was a regular practice source for me from then on...I still play American Metal and Psychopath occasionally to this day.
I linked the studio album version above, but you can also use the “Murderous Metal Roadshow” version as well for a live performance. I have the dvd and break it out once or twice a year just for fun.

"The details are like tat of a video game"
That's because they are. This was a collaboration with the company that made World of Warships, to commemorate the game's release on consoles. The band made this purely for the fans, as they had been asking them to make asking about the famous battleship for years. And given that they actually have a contact form on their website through which you can ask for songs about specific historical conflicts, I expect mote of these songs to come in the near future.
Check out their latest video, Fields of Verdun,. as well. And look into the history behind the songs afterwards, to get an impression about how deep their research goes.

This is a promotion song for the World of Warships game too as a tribute to the historical event. Same with the song "Primo Victoria" which just so happened to be what the boat got named before heading out to sea, that song is also a promotion for the World of Tanks game.

One of the lines in text has just stuck with me "2000 men and 50,000 tons of steel, set the course for the Atlantic with the Allies on the heel", I don't know but to me that line is just brilliant both from the historical context and how well it fit into the song.
Speaking of Sabaton though, I feel like they are getting better in general with nearly every album, the more recent ones have been focused around a central theme that just ties them together so damn nicely. 'Carolus Rex', the rise and fall of the Swedish Empire. 'Heroes', those groups or individuals who went above and beyond the call of duty or showed considerable heroism and compassion for others during WWII. 'The Last Stand', so many different stories of people who stood and fought against tremendous odds. Gotta say I'm really looking forward to 'The Great War'

Titanic wasn't close to devastating enough as the sinking of Bismarck alone. He sank the Hood as well where 1415 sailors died out of 1418. That's only 3 survivors. Almost 2000 sailors died from Bismarck and a few tens of sailors died on, I think it was, HMS Prince of Wales when a 380mm shell hit the floor directly above the conning tower and killed several officers and wounded a couple of them as well. Luckily the shell didn't detonate but over penetrated and went straight through on the other side. The Hood sank within 5 minutes of combat when a 203mm shell from Prinz Eugen penetrated the deck and detonated inside the anti air ammunitions lockers. The next salvo from Bismarck sank HMS Hood by also penetrating the third deck and detonated inside the main battery (381mm) ammunition stowage. it blew up, devoured HMS Hood in smoke and flames and split her in two. The first reaction of the officers on the bridge was: "Vice Admiral! Steering is not responding!".
YKW! Just watch this and they'll tell you most of what happened: ruclips.net/video/2CV1tvMYFRs/видео.html

You aren't the first to compare Joakim Brodén (lead singer of Sabaton) to Chuck Liddell. The guys on A&P Reacts channel have been doing it for years. lol
But seriously, Sabaton is my all-time favorite band. Nearly every song has real history behind it. As a longtime student of military history and a lifelong Metal fan, Sabaton is the perfect band for me.
I highly recommend pretty much everything they've done so far... except for Metalizer. That one didn't have any military history songs on it.
